Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1 is based on his DC Extended Universe counterpart. This doubled the fact that his actor from that universe, John Cena reprises his role for his inclusion in the twelfth mainline game.
Like Captain Marvel (now simply renamed Shazam as of 2011), Peacemaker used to be owned by other comic book company before being owned and integrated to DC Universe. In Peacemaker's case, it was Charlton Comics.
