The Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations or AFMAO is largely staffed by Airmen, but all services are represented within the walls. Two Marines are stationed in Delaware to provide care, service, and support as liaisons to families of fallen Marines. SSgt Caitlin Jones is with one young Lance Corporal who has a big responsibility to his fellow Marines.

The pain, the sadness, yet a slight sense of relief and kindness. Kindness does not signify weakness. No truer is that fact than in the mortuary services. Soldiers who go out of their way to see to it that the fallen find their way home truly are a rare and noble breed.

In this case a marine, not a soldier, but that's okay. It's offensive to call a marine a soldier. You can call them service members of the United States Armed Forces if you're referring to all veterans like this fine young marine and gentleman. I'm telling you this so you won't be screamed at or criticized by others on the internet. R.I.P to all who lost they're lives in all branches of the US military and those who can't be with us today. @Duffelbag Drag Fu^k off. Sadly, the US has turned into yet another corrupt banana republic. I made that comment two years ago (with a different screen name and icon) at a time when I still believed in my country. Now the country is run by a senile old puppet and every three letter department has been weaponized against the American people. You probably don't know that in the so-called "Infrastructure" bill that was just passed, Congress approved the funding and hiring of 87,000 more IRS agents.

Burying a loved one is always hard. One of the most moving things I have ever witnessed was the USMC Honor guard that came to bury my Uncle Tommy. 98 degrees with 80% humidity in full dress uniform and never so much as moved to wipe the sweat.

I had had less than 3 hours sleep in as many days when I preached my fathers funeral sermon. @@lariette856 You have no idea what that was like for me thank you for recognizing that no earthly words to describe when I first saw the very beginning especially the very beginning the rest I knew but the very beginning I remember after 17 years holding on to my wedding ring and holding my stomach and hitting the ground slumped over eyes never left the tv just kept rewinding because tears were in my way I knew but to see it like that was like seeing his things the rest I won't say because I don't think anybody would understand but I will say this my Facebook is public and my daughter is my legacy holder because I'm terminally diagnosed I was supposed to go way before my Marine never did is MOS was 0311 if you knew my sock was in he would have been right there he was eventually wanting to go be a DI at Parris island I pray the microphone is saying everything correctly because I absolutely have to rely on it and I'm proud of my son for doing that cuz he wanted to be near his dad but on my Facebook way at the bottom because I got to where I just couldn't post anymore it was too much I became more of an introvert not on here but definitely there I would just show up every four or five months and just post a bunch of things and be gone because I just didn't know how to handle things anymore and just let God guide me and God told me that was what was best for man it works but if you scroll all the way down there is a 50 cal lab round and I had asked his Marines if anything should happen yank it off of his magazine and somehow break the rules and send it to me and they did and you can even see in the picture the little scratch marks on the side well they're not scratch marks but you could tell it was pulled off of the magazine and one of my fellow retired Marines was like oh my goodness they gave you a lot of round when we get that away from you and it was like I took a war I was like no no no no no and he said no I'm going to take care of it so it's no longer alive round he loves you he would never want a live round near you he has no idea you said this and he has no idea they obliged and did as you said he had to soak it in a solution his friend owns stuff with armory you name it he has it specializes in it and it was soaked in a special solution because the way that it was torn it was too risky to do it the normal way and I have a Facebook picture of it many times over on my wall but it's not at the top it's you go to scroll all the way down but everything's public and my daughter is my legacy holder and I'm very thankful for her for doing that he had passed away on her first day and she gave birth this year on her birthday so celebration of life and wedding anniversarie other birthdays veterans days which are additional memorial days for us even my birthday his birthday our children's birthdays you name it it lands in November and so that was that was really tough for me this year I must say it was probably the hardest birthday I've ever gotten through but I was thankful that I was able to live through another one memory for birthday ball was always somehow scheduled on my birthday miraculously it just always wound up that way and nobody knew I was awkward about my birthday but normal with everybody else's so that especially Hit me hard this year after 17 years I even sleep on a couch and soon my home is a hospice address and I told them I don't need the bed I want my couch that's my bad I still wear my ring there's a plastic thing that they got for me so it will still fit me and I always wear my bracelet there's a special bracelet I wear and a necklace that I wear and it's pretty difficult that those are hard to fit me that's difficult for me I'm finally wasting away after all these years and I don't like how my bracelet won't fit me and it's the metal kind and the little tiny Bible my eyes really can't read it anymore but thankfully I have my childhood Bible and it's huge I don't have many people with me except my pet but she's Heaven sent she's a real sweetheart she's a rescue head but I don't like the word pet my kids they're either serving or they're away healing I just want my grandkids to know me and I told them whatever is easier for them then that's okay cuz I know what it's like to lose a parent and so do they I pray the microphone said everything correctly I'm one of those people that want my grammar perfect .,! I don't like how I don't get that even have that anymore but as alone as I feel I know that God is with me everyday I've even had an out-of-body experience and God allowed me to choice to stay or come home and let me stay a little longer and how bright and how beautiful those angels are is mighty angels and they refer to him as father when they speak to me and will never forget that my ultimate Kevlar my Lord and Savior he even got me through that movie cuz I don't know how you can't watch that movie and not cry no matter who you are but you're the only one that has ever mentioned that to my knowledge to my eyes to my ears and as time goes by you know I sleep a lot it's like come asleep like you don't know morning from evening and I don't like that I want to be awake but when I'm asleep I dream of my family sometimes I sleep with that movie playing on demand believe it or not that's how much of home it feels like to me and I try not to miss a sunset but there's nothing like a sunset in twentynine Palms but thank you for remembering that detail and recognizing that nobody ever mentions that and nobody ever mentions their job I mean for them to do that then to come home and have dinner with their kids and their family God only knows what is going on in their personal lives God bless them my heart really goes out to everybody and I'm thankful I made it through another birthday I'm no longer awkward about my birthday I'm no longer trying to push away November I'm like come back come back come back it's been 17 years society hasn't been able to go 17 seconds without touching their phone or griping about something I've gone 17 years without things by choice and I and I could have easily done that differently but it didn't feel the same for me I could not do it was very grateful for your attention to detail though I really wanted to make that no it deserved to be said there is so much to say but not really always any earthly words to be able to say it sometimes it's just said with a gaze depends on what I have to hear in public or what they may have to hear afterwards in public but don't worry they'll reflect on life whenever I'm through it's not meant to ever hurt Lord knows I know too much about that but nobody knows more about that than Jesus and God is love and I love my Ultimate Kevlar so even though I don't get to see family except maybe once a year if not maybe once every few years my family had me in their fifties so I'm used to elderly and most of them have already crossed over and my siblings were 30 years older than me and were never really in my life but I come from a huge military family they know I don't video chat I want to look like me not what's happening to me so they just call if I'm awake but thank you for recognizing that that means really a lot to me nobody's ever recognized that not even a service member has mentioned that and they could have quietly I never would have said anything I suppose it just depends on the person on the other end of it I guess I'm sorry for his loss but I'm thankful that they kept that in the movie I'm glad that they really showed it in a way that it has not been shown before to the civilian community thankful the country can see God Bless him and his family and thank you again for your attention to detail ✝️💜⏳

As an Airman, in the USAF, I was stationed at Dovver AFB and had the blessed opportunity to serve as a Body Escort for a fallen Airman who had lost his life in an automobile accident in Germany. I have to say that those who serve at the Port Mortuary, at Dover AFB, and I must say that they are all professional beyond professional. Much love and thanks to all of them!!!!

Marines take care of their own. A sublime understatement. I am an airline pilot. Former Air Force. Although I have never had the honor of transporting service member's remains, I have witnessed this happen and it is a solemn and emotional ceremony. I have had the honor of taking wounded soldiers, sailors and Marines to and from their rehabilitation hospitals in San Antonio and Washington DC. Every one of them is escorted to, and picked up from the aircraft by an active duty escort. It is amazing to see, the brotherhood runs deep. Thank you all for your sacrifice, thank you for protecting our nation, our way of life. Thank you for your service!
