My Dad and his best friend were Mose fans, would listen to Mose growing up in the 70's. Im 60 now, I get the music and the talent. Had the honor of visiting his blues trail marker in his hometown of Tippo Ms. Met a family member by chance, got a true history lesson on Mose. A true talent and Mississippi treasure.

I was introduced to him at about 14 and instantly became a life long fan. While he was playing in Newport Beach years later I spoke to him saying 'Thank You for playing all my favorite songs in your last set', he looked at me sideways and responded "Glad I could play all YOUR favorite songs man..." saw him again decades later not long before he died and he was still the coolest hippest ahead of his time artist ever!

Not sure when that was filmed but I didn't see Mose at his piano until about 1971 in NYC... then a few years later in Philly.. then a couple blocks from my loft in downtown San Diego, in a common bar with picnic tables circa 1994. Then a couple years after that, on an evening stroll, I walked past the window of the Hotel Grand on 3rd ave in San Diego and in the window, unexpectedly, there was Mose playing their grand piano. Whoa! I was shocked... mesmerized. [nb: Back then a night at that Hotel was about $90/night. Now it's $600/night. That's insane! ] I was priced out of San Diego, my hometown, in 2004.. As a musician (guitarist/violinist) I have always been and will always be a die-hard Mose fan, having played several of his songs on stage over the years and at least, on those several occasions, I was fortunate and privileged enough to sit down with him personally in between sets and tell him how much his music meant to me. I'm sure many did the same thing but I'm so thankful for that and always thankful for Mose Allison.

I started listening in 1969. Hung out with. Talked to him. I'm thinking he was an autistic savant. He was very single minded.

@@kinkle_Z I have had similar experiences with a few people, however: I was also lucky to meet, study and play with a few of my heroes. Sometimes people are going through things, and it may make them seem unfriendly. I try to cut people a break and hope that they are well. I also try too always be friendly and nice to everyone. Went to hear him live and was shocked that he was into a frantic speed of light style...much different than this coolest of cool style...still entertained though.
