I don't mind that, but my God I hate the ram das stuff. That was a big part of me not listening to this show anymore. I don't know if it's how silly and LA it sounds, or if it's that not a single one of the quotes is any impressive, or a mix. But it drives me crazy. Some people are addicted to being addicts? Wow, so insightful.. Edit : OK, the terrence mckenna interruption got me.. 😂 That's like both things in one package. It's something about Pete's tone when he's saying things like that. It reminds me of my friends that are psychologist or similar, how they can say the most obvious stuff with the most patronising tone possible

I came here from the audio just to see if anyone felt the same way, and it’s the second comment! Pete’s interruptions have never bothered me before, but a couple times so far I was so invested in what Moshe was about to say I’ve also been feeling lately like Pete’s become a little too woo-woo for his own good. Doesn’t seem to be serving him at this point, enlightenment just becoming another thing to want.

I love this show and have listened to hundreds of episodes so this isn't a criticism but an honest question: how long do we have to keep saying "scandal noted" in regards to Louis CK (or anyone for that matter)? It seems like it is being said, so there isn't an association with someone who went through a scandal, but what is the time limit on it? Six months? A year? 10 years? It feels like it eliminates any chance of redemption for that individual if, at the mere mention of their name, we have to follow up with "scandal noted".
@stikkinixx
@stikkinixx 6 ай бұрын
The only person responsible for Louis's redemption is Louis, and he's doing just fine. Selling out shows, winning awards, continuing to make millions. He is as redeemed as he's gonna get, unless he wants to do the work to take it further. People who don't like him don't have to like him or accept him or root for him. Also, this is the internet, so if he didn't say it, the entire comments section would be people flipping out on him for supporting someone they see as a predator, and the people who don't think so would be arguing with them about it. There isn't a set time limit on it. Pete can say it until he no longer feels like saying it. You don't have to say it. No one else does, either. It's not holding Louis back in any way. It's pretty much just saying "I don't agree with his behavior, but he said a smart thing, and I don't believe in throwing the baby out with the bathwater" If anything, he's doing Louis a solid.

I was thinking about these 'cancels' generally, sort of weed out people's fan bases, and help artists find their 'people', and vice-versa, (for better or for worse)... Look at 'The Chicks', as an example. They started sharing their political beliefs, got a ton of backlash and lost a lot of country fans, but the fans they kept, and found, have a more authentic connection to who they are and their core beliefs...

Holy shit Moshe, that is such a good Hawking it kills me. I ruined a joke many, many years ago by simulating his voice in a fake voicemail left for Hawking by Hawking. “Steven, it’s you from the future, we finally did it, we completed the ramp to the Time Machine”. It bombed every time, but I loved it. If I could have done that voice it would have hit soooooo much harder. And in that parallel universe, I might still be in comedy, married to a gorgeous comic. Instead I became a disgruntled mad scientist. Probably for the best.

On a political podcast, they said that an election is not the game, it is the draft. I think that may be analogous to joining AA. You may not have won the super bowl, but you've hired Bill Belichek (scandal noted) as your coach, and you got Tom Brady (scandal noted) as your QB. But now you need to run the routes.

Just gunna put this out there: as much as I love "scandal noted", it kinda defeats the purpose if every time you say it, you spend 10 minutes explaining it. I think your viewers and your guests are savvy enough to pick up what's going on when every time you mention a disgraced celebrity immediately followed by "scandal noted". Isnt the whole point to avoid the rabbit hole? Just sayin'

I’d say it’s 50% calling attention to the fact that you realize there was a scandal, 40% comedy and 10% novelty, because it does make me laugh every time and then also, Pete gets to have his own thing. He came up with this cute, quick, acknowledgment that’s pretty funny, and he came up with it, and it’s his own. It makes Pete who he is. I personally love it.

Someday, Pete won't have to say "scandal noted" after he say's the name "Louis C.K.". Some day his fans will all have heard it enough times to go...."Louis C.K. once did something less than savory...do I care? Why don't i go investigate this scandal for myself? Oh look! He did x, y, and z and that makes me think blank" Keep it crispy, sweet Pete.

Really wish you'd knock it off with the "Scandal Noted" thing. With that logic, every time you reference a person you must acknowledge that bad thing they did. So every time you refer to your wife or your dad you should say "Scandal Noted" because they maybe stole a candy bar when they were 7.

Now… Is that the same thing as being publicly known as a perpetrator of sexual harassment, or someone who has sexually assaulted a woman before? They are not the same thing. “Scandal noted” is an effort to acknowledge the large public immorality the person has committed, while understanding that they have said a thing in the past that has some value. We are all humans and we all contain multitudes. Do we really need to pretend like what happened with Russell or Louie or woody Allen never happened? That’s the best way to deal with it?
