A beloved treat to Americans of a certain bygone era, we've never seen Cosmic Brownies outside of retro photographs. We've been looking at those photos for two years, thinking about how cute and delicious they look, and wondering if we could pull of making our own. ...And we've finally done it! Well, something like it. Plus, they're humongous! A quick count revealed that our brownies clock in at over 8,500 calories. After taking one hearty bite of this, you're going to want to slice it up and polish it off that way, because it looks like our recipe is about equal to 24 pieces worth of regular Cosmic Brownies.
Recipe (21 x 12cm)
1. Soften 325g of unsalted butter.
2. Add 300g of sugar and mix together until light and fluffy.
3. Add 4 room temperature eggs one by one, blending well each time.
4. Sift together 325g of cake flour, 165g of cocoa powder, 4g of baking powder, and 15g of corn starch. Add sifted dry ingredients to batter, mixing to combine. Add a pinch of salt and mix to combine.
5. Add 90g of milk and mix to combine.
6. Pour into a 9x11 baking dish and spread evenly.
7. Bake for 40 minutes in an oven preheated to 170 C (325 F). During baking, cover with aluminum foil at the 25 minute mark.
8. The brownies are done when a toothpick inserted into their center comes back clean.
9. Place the brownies, still in the baking dish, on a rack to cool.
10. We made Ganache, too. Place 430g of chocolate and 180ml of heavy cream in a heat-resistant bow.
ある世代のアメリカ人にとっての心のお菓子、レトロな写真でしか見たことがない『COSMIC Brownies』。かわいいな、おいしそうだな できるかなと思って眺めること2年。とうとう作りました、それっぽいやつ。しかも、でっかいよ。ざっと計算したら、8500kcal超えのブラウニーとなりました。ガブっとかじりついた後は、切り分けてコツコツいただきます。なんたって普通の『COSMIC Brownies』の24切れ相当らしいですから。
*レシピ*（21✕12センチ）
１．無塩バター 325gをなめらかにする。
２．砂糖 300gを入れ、軽くふわふわに混ぜる。
３．常温にした 卵 4個を1個ずつ加え、その都度混ぜる。
４．薄力粉 325g、ココアパウダー 165g、ベーキングパウダー 4g、コーンスターチ 15gを合わせてふるった粉類を加え混ぜる。塩ひとつまみ も加え混ぜる。
５．牛乳 90gも加え混ぜる。
６．23.5✕29.5センチの型に流し込み、平らにする。
７．170度に予熱したオーブンで40分焼く。途中、25分の時にアルミ箔を被せました。
８．竹串を刺して、何もついてこなければ大丈夫です。
９．型のまま、網などの上で冷ます。
１０．ガナッシュを作ります。耐熱ボウルにチョコレート 430gと生クリーム 180ml入れる。
１１．600wの電子レンジで2分加熱し、一旦取り出しかき混ぜる。その後、チョコレートが溶けるまで様子を見ながら加熱する。今回、その後1分加熱したら溶けました。
１２．粗熱の取れた９にかける。
１３．カラフルなスプリンクルで飾る。今回はM&M’sで飾りました。幸せのピンク粒が入ってたらもっと本物の『COSMIC Brownies』に近づけられたのに！2袋買ったけど、入ってなかった！残念。
