A return visit to the garden featured in this video: • Growing a Moss Garden
It's almost a year later, and you can see the progress with the ferns and mosses taking over the slopes and rocky areas of the garden. Also featuring a peak at the rest of the (more formal) gardens on the property.

Those boxwoods! And let's talk about the clipper skills & intricate design work that's used - admirable to say the least. Lovely garden tour!

🌻👨‍🌾🌼🐇🥕I’m back for another update of your amazing garden. Everything looks great! Your work is inspirational to me. I’ve been very busy in my garden. It’s never ending weeds here. I appreciate the tips you’ve shared in your videos. You’ve helped me learn ! Let’s keep learning from each other as we grow our gardens and our KZfaq channels!

Amazing boxwood. Looks like something you would see in Europe. The most garden is very soothing.

The Gardner - it’s evident that the “Gardner” is both creative and precise. The Boxwoods are trimmed to laser like precision ! With corners so sharp one could almost cut themselves. I can only imagine the hrs of work needed to maintain this wonderful space. I feel relaxed from listening to the creek.

Thanks Mark. I've enjoyed seeing the geometric shapes of this garden - and there' are loads of tall conifers also kept in interesting shapes with pruning. Always something new to see there.

Just stunning and inspirational! I love the contrast of the boxwood precision with the organic shapes and textures of the moss garden. I'm inspired to keep one boxwood I was debating replacing in my garden, and have settled on what to do with my pruned wood and twigs! 😊

Delightful! There are only a few places in my neighborhood conducive to ferns and mosses. However, the waterfall trail near Pleasant Ridge Park outside of Greenville, SC is an amazing moss habitat.

Beautiful garden! I wish I lived in a place not so harsh like Oklahoma! Gardening here is hard with the type of soil and the bipolar weather!🙃 I just have to be more selective when it comes to which plants to buy! 😬

It's quite amazing just how quickly mosses and ferns grow, especially when they have the moisture and proper environment. I have lived on this farm for 12 years and only saw a couple of very small fern sprouts at the base of some rocks under the macadamia trees, but this year little sprouts began to grow around some of my potted plants. I didn't think much of it a few months ago but this weekend I had to cut them all down because they were almost 5 feet tall due to the changes here on the island from less volcanic activity and increased rainfall. This side of the island is usually much hotter and dryer year round with the exception of about 3 months (April, May, June) which is the rainy season. During this small window you typically see a few ferns pop up, get about a foot tall before drying up and dying off. The Eastern side of the island has Hapu tree ferns 10 feet and taller, with all kinds of other fern varieties as well as many types of mosses because it is so much wetter there. The garden looks great!👌 It reminds me of The Pacific Northwest and Alberta with all the ferns and mosses growing in the mountains. I was up on the new property today and noticed a few small out croppings of ferns growing naturally. I was actually surprised because it is so much dryer up there, but I certainly appreciate the natural plant life that survives in that environment. The Mostera, Ti plant, and Poha berries I planted about a month ago have survived with no assistance, so the prospects are looking pretty good. After living in Hawaii for over 30 years I've gotten so spoiled by how quickly and easily most things grow here. When I see things like the garden project there in Canada it reminds me how dramatically different things are in the Northern states and up there in Canada. This time of year things are so alive and beautiful, but the other 9 months.... I don't miss that at all. Lol Wonderful update Jason.🤙

Thanks. It's wonderful to hear about a place where ferns and other (what I would call) tropical plants thrive and grow quickly. I'd love to have more ferns here on the farm, but our land is a bit exposed for that yet. Give it a few years and I'll see if I can engineer some shady/sheltered places!

@@FraserValleyRoseFarm Actually, the reason I was surprised is because there is zero shade where these ferns are growing. They are about 12-16 inches tall in small bunches. They will probably explode with growth when I start watering them. I spent the day yesterday driving into the property making a basic driveroad. The top lava is basically cinder in rock shell form, so as you drive on it, it collapses and you just break it down. Unfortunately under that top layer it bluerock in many places. I think you should plant a few small clumps and see how the develop. According to my neighbor it hasn't rained since I planted the other plants a month ago. I'm sure the ferns are much hardier than we think. I too alway thought they needed a lot of moisture and shade, buteven the ones I cut down were in full Kona sun the whole time. If the roots are shielded from the heat of the sun they will probably do quite well in your area, especially in a tire with lots of soil and mulch for holding the moisture and shielding those roots. I will certainly be digging up the roots from the bunches I cut down to take with me when I move the plants.

Oh wow! SO beautiful. How wonderful to see the beauty of a shade garden. The vast majority of videos focus on sun-loving plants. A quick plea, if I may - if you would move your camera a bit more slowly - otherwise we get dizzy watching :-) Thank you.

Rosa chinensis viridiflora. Green roses are said to have been around since about 1743, but were not cultivated until the mid 18th Century. They may even be one of the oldest roses of all, along with the single or wild roses. They are true roses, but unlike other varieties of roses, they don't have petals - they only have sepals which are green. Are green roses a thing? I found this on my FB feed.

All legit info. I've been looking to add it to my collection as a curiosity (because honestly, it's more "unusual" than attractive) - there are also some pale white roses like 'Green Ice' that show off a little like green.
