The all new 940 Pro Turkey is an excellent gun, allowing you to use an optic or your front site simultaneously. The machined receiver allows for a much more natural cheek weld (as the optic is lower) and is much cleaner looking. Make sure to change video quality to 1080 HD.
Here are the products seen in this review:
• Shotgun: Mossberg 940 Pro Turkey 22” Barrel
• Ammo: Hevi-18 Turkey 3” 2oz #9 shot
• Red Dot: Holosun HS507K X2 amzn.to/3rudrfb
• Sling: Camo Quake Slimline amzn.to/3vd5fAU
• Laser Boresighter: SiteLite SL-100 amzn.to/3rsW3Hz

I recently bought a 940 Pro Turkey 18.5" and put a Swampfox Sentinel on it, sighted it in with a bore laser and had it zeroed to 35 yards with one shot of #7 BOSS TOM, killed a 24 pound tom with it the next day at 30 yards, mine came with a Carlson's .660 turkey choke and no oversize bolt release which seemed strange but I love the gun, it's a tack driver.

Nice review but I can’t believe you didn’t clean your gun after every hunt, you love this gun and yet you can’t take a half hour to clean it and take care of it!!! Don’t get mad at me for saying this to you because I am only trying to help ❤

Questions I've been asked: * I know MSRP is almost $1100, I paid just over $800 online * Gun as configured is 7.9lbs * Rumor mill is that there will be a 20 gauge version of this gun in the future, no confirmation from Mossberg that I have seen though * I have not tested any other chokes than the stock x-factor choke that came with it. Was very happy with patterns out to 60yrds so do not see a reason to change.

People as far as I know doesn't 3 1/2" mag loads only give you more shot capacity not powder, therefore your shot is heavier and lower? Even if slightly more powder it is not enough to off set the extra weight of load. I guess one can look at the FPS to gain this info on the box if printed with the truth of fps and not over rated.

What screws did you use when mounting the Holosun. I know my 507k has shirt and longer screws that came packaged. Or Mossberg provide different screws for mounting?

Great gun, but iv read that the X factor choke it comes with is lead only…you have been shooting TSS out of it? Anything noticeable happen to the choke or choke threads ?
@Clifwalker
@Clifwalker Жыл бұрын
I zeroed with lead dove loads then proceeded with TSS probably ran 10 or so thru it. The only issue I've seen it rusts quick when wet. Most likely the were referring to no large steel shot, small 8's and 9's TSS hasn't harmed it.

So my 940 turkey pro didnt come with a oversized bolt release... When I called they said only like first production of the TURKEY PRO came with them then they switch back over to the 930 style standard size
@tomsreviews4422
@tomsreviews4422 2 жыл бұрын
@Jose Temali That sucks! Considering the gun is advertised with the oversized bolt release I would hope they would eventually send you one. Maybe they did it due to supply chain issues on that part? But I hope they do you right and correct that.

@@tomsreviews4422 no kidding .. Mossberg hasnt started to sell or stock them for sale yet so until they do I'll just keep it as is..the standard size on mine is very smooth and crisp and I was wondering Does it get in the way as being oversized with accidental hitting it when in the field hunting?
@tomsreviews4422
@tomsreviews4422 2 жыл бұрын
@@josetemali3 I have not had an issue with it getting in the way. When gun is chambered, the oversized bolt handle is basically right above the release -- which sticks out farther. Have not had an issue with either one. The oversized handle is definitely awesome, I like the oversized release too -- although not sure it is 100% necessary on a turkey gun. May be nice for waterfowl or hunting Merriams or Rios out west in cold weather...

Thanks for the review! Do you think the 24" barrel is a big advantage over the 18.5" barrel?
@tomsreviews4422
@tomsreviews4422 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! In these barrel lengths you’ll gain about 7-8fps per inch. So your gaining about 44fps with the longer barrel. Not too much of a performance improvement. I would just get what you like. For me, I like the 24” as it lets you get the most out of the expensive tungsten rounds and it’s normally just long enough that I can push it past the bigger branches/ brush I’m hiding behind. An 18” is very maneuverable but just a little short for my liking. Personal preference.
@HamiltonDilbeck
@HamiltonDilbeck 2 жыл бұрын
@@tomsreviews4422 I really appreciate your response! I keep going back and forth, but I'm glad to know that its not taking too much of a performance hit to get the shorter barrel. In my mind it could act as a home defence gun as well as turkey with the 18.5", but who knows what way I'll go! Thanks again and Happy Easter!

@tomsreviews4422
@tomsreviews4422 2 жыл бұрын
@@brianguest5622 I cut some aluminum foil into sheets that were a little undersized on width of the sight and about 1/4” long. I think I used 4 thicknesses of aluminum foil on the front of the site. Literally just dropped the site on top of the shims and screwed it down. Worked well for me and doesn’t take much.

Pro tip. If your having to shim the red dot with foil, the gun isnt that great. 2nd pro tip, use cheap shells to help u sight it. So ur not wasting 15$ a shot. Mind blowing.

Thanks for watching! There is quite a bit of manufacturing tolerance stack up between barrel, receiver, optic mount machining, red-dot, etc. it’s to be expected that shimming MAY be required on a gun that is at this price point. Real world price I paid was $850. High end guns may have better tolerances, but it’s an easy fix that’s very cheap. As for the site in process, I 100% agree with you if you do not have a laser boresighter. I still believe the boresighter is the way to go if you are an avid hunter or shooter. I am able to mount all my own optics on my rifles and shotguns for the rest of my life with a super simple device. 15min with this shotgun to boresight it at home and I sighted in in at the range with one shot. Huge time and money saver.
