They are a seriously impressive and deadly AI. They're not as physically imposing as others so you often overlook and prioritize them lower than you should. Kudos to the Devs at Id for coming up with such a devious AI.

Carcass is possibly the most annoying demon, I always prioritize them unless there is an archvile

Carcasses are one of the best examples of AI I've ever seen in any game ever. BTW, you missed their 2 biggest weaknesses, 1 pip of destroyer blade and blood punch instant stagger.

I'll never forget when I was about to glory kill the Possessed Marauder in The Holt slayer gate and one of those guys prevented me from doing so.

This demon is way more intelligent than I thought

Additionally, the lowest power destroyer blade also instantly destroys the shields

You can also instantly kill them with a 16 shot of destroyer blade.

Blood punch can also stagger them, and refills your blood punch by glory killing them.

These things are always the first to go. BTW, I already felt Doom Eternal had some of the best designed enemies in gaming history but these videos really help me appreciate just how great they really are.

Every time I see that big blue shield pop up somewhere I immediately say “Ok where are you fat boy!?” and go on a wild goose chase.

Carcasses have always been my number 1 target whenever they're on the field. That and prowlers.

I honestly thought the carcass shield was made to always be in-front of the player. I had no idea that if you looked directly at them they would summon it, or attack demons with microwave beam or after freezing them. Great video

Carcass is the real homie. He prioritises shielding his homies instead of himself.

Darn, I had no idea that it placing shields in front of enemies I was about to glory kill was a part of its programming, a really devious move from Id. This is probably my one of my favourite demons to hate, but at the same time it’s actually really interesting to see demons work together

Another weakness they have is that they get almost always staggered from a blood punch at full health, which will refund your blood punch once you glore kill them after the upgrade.

I think you can instakill the carcass overheating his shield with he is close to it and you can also instakill the carcass with a arbalista shot or its detonation. but I didnt know he goes to glorykill stagger when headshot with balista Great video

The amount times a carcass has put their shield in from of me JUST as I fire a Rocket/BFG shot is too many

i cannot count the number of times i tried to glory kill a demon just for a carcass shield to appear in front of me making me waste a blood punch

The super gore nest ML has made me develop a deep hatred for the carcasses. Those bastards always got me in the worst moments in the encounter with the 4 tyrants

As frustrating as Carcasses are to fight against, the glory kills that can be done on them are honestly some of the best ones. My personal favorites are where the Slayer kicks the Carcasses upper torso off from their lower half, steps on it’s back leg while breaking their neck from behind, and when the DOOM Slayer tears off and stabs a cybernetic piece of it’s upper arm into it’s face.

1:45 do carcasses defend any demon or do they have some kind of priority? I assume they don't bother defending fodder enemies like imps and posessed, while tyrants, hunters and archvilles are more likely to get supported.

one weakness you forgot to mention is you can kill them with one destroyer blade charge. The tiniest destroyer blade can cut through the shield and kill the carcass

The carcass may actually be somewhat intellegent with the AI

It is annoying, but they are surprisingly easy to deal with. I think a meat hook + super close range Super Shotgun and then a ballista shot kills them

This and Whiplashe Teamed Up Together Is My Worst Nightmare.

Tbh he's annoying but in a great way. He is supposed to annoy you and distract you, and if you fall for it you are only hurting yourself. What a creative and fun enemy.

also: 1/3 charged destroyer blade cuts through an unlimited number of energy shields and 1 hit kills all carcasses hit you can get an incredible amount of mileage out of 16 plasma ammo doing this edit: oh like 57 other ppl commented this already lmao

As annoying as they might be, theyre very well designed.

I can think of 3 demons (without variations) that I find more annoying; Whiplashes, Cybermancubi and Prawlers.

Damn that is annoying especially their movement it's all erratic and jumpy and the fact that they help the other demons bruh that pisses me off. They remind me of those doil elite leets from power rangers that spawn in around the main villain.
