Rome has a staggering number of beautiful churches, almost 900. It is impossible to cover all of them in a single video.
I have highlighted the most intriguing and beautiful churches in Rome to provide you with travel inspiration. These are the most important locations you should visit. It is irrelevant whether you are religious. These gorgeous churches should be on your Rome itinerary or bucket list if you appreciate art and architecture.
▶️ Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore: This lovely basilica is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Monti district of Rome. The basilica was constructed in the fifth century and is among Rome's must-see churches.
▶️ Basilica of Saint Giovanni of Laterno: The Lateran is one of the four most important basilicas under papal control. All popes were crowned here until 1870. It contains the graves of six popes. The Lateran was the first church that Emperor Constantine founded. According to legend, Constantine dug the foundation by hand.
▶️ The Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs): The Scala Sancta, situated in front of the Church of St. Lawrence in Palatio, is one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the world.
Numerous visitors travel to Rome to retrace the paths of renowned historical figures, such as Julius Caesar, who walked the Via Sacra. At this place, though, Christian pilgrims ascend a staircase.
According to Roman Catholic belief, these are the 28 steps of white marble that Jesus ascended en route to his trial before Pontius Pilate. According to legend, they are stained with Jesus' blood.
After a long stroll and touring, we were hungry and stumbled onto Trieste Pizza. I have to admit, these were the nicest pizzas I've ever had, as they melted in our mouths, the service was excellent, and the manager was extremely polite. Then we also tasted pizza at Sapori e Delizie.
