It's a mistake that is made everyday and can easily be avoided. Do NOT commit to a price (or amount of time) until you physically see the vehicle condition in the appropriate light. Don't be fooled by a cloudy day. This is a Porsche 993 Carrera :) -L

+Engineering Explained Don't tell me you're beating up your STi! I have a 2013 WRX and baby it according to a lot of Larry's advice. I can't afford his products, unfortunately, but while I've owned it, it's never seen an automated wash, it's always gotten the two bucket, all microfiber treatment. It's tough to keep a daily driver perfect, but Larry's enthusiasm makes me want to do my best. That said, keep up the good work. Love your channel as well!

That looks like a paper towel dry job if you ask me. The reason I know is because when I still lived at my moms house years and years ago my mom took paper towel to the hood of my camaro. She was trying to help by getting some bird crap off of the car since I was gone at work in my other car at the time. I died a little inside when she told me and I went and looked at it. But I didn't have the heart to tell her she just did a number to my paint. I gave her a hug and said thank you then went and got out some compound lol. I don't think I told her until long enough went by that she would associate it with that incident because I didn't want her to do it again but also didn't tell her right then because I didn't want her to feel bad. Lol, moms.

Another key note , is to find the customers goals for the car ,not every car has to be perfect . Some just want a shine while others want scratches, light to moderate removed. You are absolutely right about not giving price before seeing , I learned this just from process , it just makes common sense . I am curious to know how long this correction took total and how far did you go into it as far as removing imperfections

Great video as always and the car looks amazing! About the "parking thing", I think you should always do that little extra to surprise the customer. If it's filling up the washer fluid, throwing out old parking recetes from the dash or just parking the customers car in a "nice" spot is just makes a good job look even more professional. If you think about it from the customers view it makes sense. When he/she picks up the car they don't know you took 1 extra hour to make the inside of the fueldoor look good but they sure will notice if their car is perfectly backed up in front of the dealership/shop. Keep up the good videos!

Some very good, and sometimes overlooked, points, Larry. Shocking difference once in the garage, it looked as though it had cleaned with wire wool previously. Lovely finished work, and I agree with the effect of having the vehicle facing outward once completed, it does give a 'Wow' factor, and eases the $ out of the customer wallet (Or £ as we have here in England). Thanks for the video :-)

I'm glad about the backing in, it bothered me seeing your own car pulled into your garage rather than backed in. At home I back in if I can, sometimes traffic can be too heavy to make it worth but, but I'd say 999 out of 1000 times I back in. Side note, I notcied that the center caps in your wheels didn't seem to be aligned to anything. I always base them off the valve stem, usually pointing the bottom of the badge to it.

I love how you pay attention to details! LIke parking cars with the front out. I do that too. 1. because it does look nice and 2. because it's easier to drive out for the next person. The only time I wonæt back a car in is if Iæm feeling really tired or just not focusing. Iæve learned from experience that if I feel that tired I WILL make stupid mistakes I would never ever make under normal circumstances.

***** I used to live in a bigger city and drove to imy school often and paralelled parked with several different cars. The biggest being a Toyota Hiace and a Volkswagen Transport. I was ok at doing it, but now I havenæt done it in a long time so if I'm very tired I'm just not doing it. I also work as a pizza driver and drive a lot. I'm just out of practice for paralell parking, I never have to do them where I live. IO can do one at a big place but a really narrow spot would take me some time whereas bnefore iæd get it in the first attempt or have to do one readjustment.

This is something that applies to the paintless dent repair industry. You would think that looking at a dent on a car would not be a problem, but once pulling the car inside and using proper lighting, we are able to notice the "real" extent of the damage.

Excel Dent Removal The reciprocal to this is doing work on a cloudy day. The customer will sign off on anything. I know someone who went to a dent repair place and was distraught about how bad the job looked in the sun a few days later.

***** Yes you are right. There are some dent repair companies I would not trust to work on my own car. That's why you have to find a PDR shop that does good work. I work inside in my shop and don't do repairs outside. That way I can provide an excellent repair for my customers every time.

The end result looks excellent. I've always backed into parking spaces/garages for many reasons. It's quicker/easier to just get in and go and it's much safer. It makes a lot more sense to back into a spot whenever possible. Sure it takes longer to park but that's the only disadvantage really.

Larry you are truly a man of that has mastered the art of detailing. Love your products. I will admit im not completely sold out on them i will say this. The detailing business is not just on who you know but your geographic location and market. I had a business in Milwaukee area and I could not get enough people to buy into the kind of work you did and still be profitable. Very few people in Wisconsin, wanted to pay for a high quality job like I would do. Glad to see you have a pretty good set up and a large client base. Keep at it brotha!

In my area there's a young dude that charges $40 to wash a truck, $20 car, $80 big rig and trailer. Never used his services but I find that to be very cheap in price. I don't even know if he details the inside of any vehicle for that price. The point is, I guess every one has there pricing, high or low, I guess.

I clean friends, colleagues and neighbours cars for free as I enjoy it and find it therapeutic so the question I get asked is 'how long will it take?'. Which is hard to say as it may take four hours or 16 hours over two days. I never commit to a time till I get to see the car and see where I may need to focus my attention or how big a job it actually is.

Looks like someone has been cleaning the car, couldn't clean the crap of it fast enough with a microfiber towel and started to clean it with the scrubbing side of a scrub dishwash scrub sponge.
