It irritates me when people still use the term "shark infested waters." THE OCEAN IS THEIR HOME. Edit: Of course waters that are known to have high shark populations should be avoided. I simply believe in using language that doesn't insinuate that humans belong everywhere. Furthermore, if an area happens to be a habitat to predatory creatures, that means that it's their home, not a space meant for us which happens to be infested.

As someone who was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawai'i and spent most of the last 45 years here, going to the beach near the volcano is not something that anyone needs to worry about. This video creates a false sense of fear about going to the beach there. Kilauea has only erupted twice in the last 45 years and geologists are able to predict well in advance when it's going to happen. Puna is one of the most beautiful and serene places to be.

I went to New Smyrna and Daytona Beaches hundreds of times never saw a shark. Most all the bites were from small sand sharks that people stepped on in shallow water. Shuffle your feet to stir up sand and they run. You can drive on most places and sit in your car if a storm approaches also. Now...Ft. Lauderdale, that was scary. A pod of four huge hammerhead sharks that you could see swimming in the cresting wave. It was like the scene from Jaws when everyone panicked trying to get out of the water!

The wife and I were at the number two beach and got swept into a rip tide. Fortunately, I could swim for days. I grabbed her and swam sideways to safety but it was a loooong swim back to shore. Away from the rip was fairly shallow, about 5’. The rip itself was over 8’ deep and when I went down I could feel the sand sucking away. Scary as hell but I stayed calm and we got out.

Didn't think people would be a major threat on beaches. Christopher Columbus wouldn't have made it home alive
@gregoryreese84914 жыл бұрын
Sad to say the peaceful Taino who were the people Columbus famously met on the beach (Columbus noted they were generous, friendly and quite physically well proportioned and comely) so of course he and the leaders of the next couple of European expeditions, captured and enslaved them all. Forced to work in mines, (even in places where there was no evidence of gold or other valuable ores being present) disease and forced labor had virtually eradicated them within the next forty years. In the Nineteenth Century there was a belated effort to reestablish the society which created a sort of quasi-Taino population, but seeing as both the culture and any "full blooded" descendants no longer existed, the goal was, realistically speaking, nothing more than a pipe dream.

@zuwarkgaming6 жыл бұрын
B R A Z It is clickbait because it enticed you to click on the video, not because the title or thumbnail wasn't what the video was about
