A Mega Transport on one of the most dangerous roads in the world - the Siberian Ice Road. It doesn't forgive mistakes. It's treacherous. And unpredictable. A life-threatening adversary that has left many fractured and broken.
The Kolymar mountain range in eastern Russia - an inhospitable frozen landscape. With temperatures as low as fifty degrees below.
Only in winter, when the snow buries the underlying mudflats, is this region accessible at all - over the Ice Road.
One of the biggest businesses in the area involves transports to gold mines! Sometimes what they need is a colossal machine-like Komatsu D four hundred and seventy-five A. It's one of the biggest bulldozers in the world. It weighs in at a hefty eighty-six tons - far more than the world’s heaviest tank.
The mega transport route leads from the Russian Magadan through the tundra of Siberia for a total of one thousand kilometers.
Over snow-covered mountain passes, temporary bridges and unpaved ice roads.
There the truckers are on their own. Spare lines, workshops, rescue services of any kind - you won’t find any of these on the Ice Road! In order to reach the destination in time, the men will drive most of the way without breaks. Day and night.
The mine is basically still "hibernating." But in a few days, this year's digging will begin. And, if the transport and bulldozer don't make it there in time, the mine could lose an estimated ton of gold this season!
For the drivers an icy, brutal battle: "Man against Nature’s cold heart".

20 years ago I had an employee from Russia actually Soviet Union who after his time in the Soviet/Afghanistan war drove in that area of Siberia. But it wasn't as cushy as it is now. He also didn't just drive from Magadon to the Gold mines but he would caravan all the way from Czechoslosvokia in Eastern Europe to Magadon which is easily 5 times as long as this trip. He had some stories to tell. He wasn't hauling that kind of weight though but I remember about how the route was only useable in the winter and also all the cold requirements shown in this video how the trucks and cargo would run weeks and weeks straight and how the engine would freeze solid in minutes if turned off. I know they had to carry a lot of fuel with them. They used 6 axle Tatra all wheel drive vehicles with 2 driven front axles and four in the back, Ex Soviet missile carriers if I remember correctly. and they didn't use fifth wheel trailers (which I always thought was weird) but hauled wagon style trailers. Interesting to see this video now wish I could show it to him now for comment.

As a Russian, I can tell that noone makes any drama out of nothern projects - be it trucking on ice, or through rivers, geology or mining or oil/gas projects. People do their job and mostly joke about it.

@mhamma6560 4 жыл бұрын
@@theDigited people for the most part are the same. Doesn't matter the nationality, you give 2 different people the same job like working in the arctic and they'll do it much the same. Many RUS truckers that come to the US to drive trucks are just like the US truckers speaking a different language. People are all pretty much the same. Different choices of food and language is about the only difference.

@OAT351 with similar number of POW's over the war (3.5 to 4 million) on both sides, in Soviet captivity 450,000 POWs died (keep in mind that even soldiers on the front line had food shortages), while in German captivity 1,300,000 Soviet POW's died. All this considering Germany was a signee of the Geneva Convention on POWs, while USSR wasn't. Please cry your crocodile tears about Nazi prisoners to someone who cares.
