Hey Papa! I'm a huge fan of yours. Isn't the word "succinct" pronounced (at least in RP / contemporary RP accent) like this: /səkˈsɪŋkt/? The most renowned dictionaries show that this is indeed the 'proper' pronunciation. It's not a word that is usually used in informal conversations so that's probably why I haven't heard it used in the way you say that (with that double SS instead of hard K). Might you clarify that for me, please? Keep it up mate, cheers!
@HeadRoaster
@HeadRoaster 5 жыл бұрын
as a native speaker, though American, I can corroborate the SS sound he's suggesting is the way i hear that word used most often.

PARTICULARLY - this one is unforgiving in faster speech.. ok, in slower one as well :D (also i am not sure about position of the "one" in the first usage. what is the right position? - after "this" or after "unforgiving"? or both of them are ok to use? I really like using of inversion in my language but in english it is not always good to do, it seems.

Maybe a lesson from Mr Brown of the series Mind Your Language should give the people how hard English can be LOL. Also, I as an Arab, a seriously encourage all migrants to not stay long in capitol cities like London or their suburbs. I recommend that they must shift to the far villages where their same kind of nationality is scarce and very small in number just to be forced to use English.. When I was in Australia, I started in Sydney as a university student, and stayed for a year. Then I moved to Cairns in the far north east of Queensland where the number of Arabs there I can literally count them. and that's how I was obliged to use English. now my accent is more Aussie even it took a lot from the Irish and the Scots who live in Cairns. Now, although this expression would look strange, but English now is my other mother language. Papa! I guess you will be astonished that here in Beirut Lebanon we in secondary school used to study English literature like Shakespeare , Byron, Keats. I had Shakespeare's play Macbeth completely in English without translation to Arabic. After all that, one important question. Arabic has diagraphs. they are called TashKeel in Arabic. They are the signs for the short vowels. so what are their equivalent in English if I have to write them ?
