Don't generalize. It's very common to see this behaviour in India. Not what the kid did per se, but treating them as "service people" and not bonding. It's very very common. Especially in Delhi.

Dude. Thats not true. I've seen plenty of people treat their drivers, maids, gardeners like absolute crap, haggle with them over petty shit, deny them holidays. That happens a lot.

@@himelsarkar5892 Don't know where but..... mightbe. From Mumbai till South in Kerala, I have (generally among those 50 - 60 odd households I have been to) only seen the maids having an upper hand. In Mumbai they are professional (general) while in South they literally want you to adjust to everything they say.... and people do ! I mean not normal schedule related at all...... It is like : " Can you give me my salary everyday ? I need 5000 today.... mightbe 2000 tomm..." In Kerala it is the situation due to the conglomeration of free funds distributed by the Communists to win elections, so they can keep spoiling people without any work to sit and earn while the local households having old people are severely disadvantaged by this policy as maids *show their upper hand. Also these families are spoiled by American expats who pay huge sums, literally huge in lakhs and millions to make them look after their family. My parents experienced that and initially being very nice, they were taken advantage of as anyone who came to work asked money every single day. In Bangalore things can go anyway unless it is someone known to you or has been helping your family over years. Else, issue is with foreign expats again ruining the day.

Even the first ad is exaggerated during diwali these street vendors sell the most,diyas n candles these things have a lot of demand, don't assume them to be true for real life

Ya there is nothing wrong in wishing them, even if they don't celebrate. We have loads of festivals in different states. Some of them we don't celebrate but we still wish the people belonging to that state. Spread positivity and joy. ✌🏻

True. Culture is portrayed very differently in ads. That is why many of whom I know from my village, myself all educated lawyers, engineers, doctors, chemists etc. have stopped watching TV..... the set's there but more time is spent amongst ourselves as we used to. In Mumbai, maids were not even called so. They were always "belonged" to the family where they came to work and my Gradndparents and parents and literally "everyone else" in the societies and colonies used to say : "We help them that's all, they are financially a bit challenged"......... That's how the relationship goes. Ads ..... I don't know what the popular media is trying to portray ? Indians with a **pseudo-American/western culture ?? Literally people get afraid watching colleges shown by Bollywood. Those are exaggerated. In normal Universities you will find decent people everywhere. The popular media's a big negative influence on our sanskriti.

Interesting not sure about majority but in my house maid is drinks tea us. But my mom is Kanthidhari so she has different utensils to eat.

But what is wrong in keeping seperate utensils for maids, in my house we've been keeping seperate utensils for our maids who has been there from before i was born but we are in no way rude or show ourselves superior to her i guess it was mainly because my family is vegetarian and where we live people consume beef pork etc I eat chicken,mutton sometimes but for that i too I have seperate utensils for myself and i have to clean them myself we have seperate utensils for guests too. Having seperate utensils doesn't mean anything unless you're being rude or things like they can only sit on the floor or not on same furniture etc that is definitely not good. And yes we have permanent maids so we keep a set of utensils for each one and also my mom arranges a new set whenever we change our maid and the old set is retired

It doesn't happen in family. We don't have separate utensils for her.

Having seperate utensils cannot be seen as a way of mistreating according to me, main thing is if they are being treated as lower class or something that is a problem because my family is vegetarian, we offer different set of utensils for each of our maids and even when i bring non veg at home sometimes i have to use seperate utensils kept for me and also clean them myself Eating in same utensils cannot imply we treat them very well its just like when somebody comes close to you and you pull up your mask, that does not mean someone is dirty or something we're just keeping it safe for both of us We have seperate utensils for guests too and yes irrespective of his caste or anything 😂

I'm glad so many people in these comments seem to treat their house help well, but if you ever talk to any house help, they can tell you absolute horror stories about how they have been ill-treated, looked down upon, blackmailed, given the most ridiculously difficult instructions, and definitely not allowed to sit at the dining table or on the sofa, or eat in the same plates as the family. And they have to deal with stereotypes of them being difficult, lazy, demanding, aggressive, all while having no job security or anywhere to complain when they are ill-treated. I grew up in Mumbai and can say with certainty this happens a LOT. The fact that people have to so vehemently defend their treatment of their house help in itself tells us something.
