Scan and go is like someone answered someones prayers. No more long check out queues. No more kids screaming because they want a million chocolate bars that are always placed at a till. All you food is already packed. Its what everyone has ever wanted when shopping lol

Been doing this at Waitrose for years. One of my main reasons for going in fact as I LOVE IT! My local Tesco doesn't do it unfortunately, only certain ones.

And so time saving = no more queuing, unloading & reloading at the till !!! BUT - my husband won't use them because its doing people out of a job, or it will in the future !!

Been using the scan as you shop at our local Tesco for years. We use it to find out it things have been reduced. A lot of the time items have no price on the shelf so we use the scan as you shop to go round to find bargains. We always get stopped because we cancel a lot of items in the end!

Im luckily enough to have had this in my Tesco for years now. Makes shopping so much easier. I do my weekly shop in 15-20 mins.

Used this a couple of times and although it is fun we've been stopped for a "random" check and the end each time! No longer faster :(

for me, even with a random check of a few items, it's still quicker than them scanning everything and packing at the checkout

The scan as you shop has been around for years in my local Tesco. Rarely anyone uses them. I wouldn't ever use them because they do "random" checks scanning through all your shopping after you've done it. That would be so embarrassing and invasive.

that is so cool, I am 22 y/o and I really want to try them. I have never tried them before, I really want to try them. It makes it much easier rather than queuing up for self-checkouts and tills.

@@MissBudgetBeauty I agree, I actually tried it today but people(customers) didnt say excuse me or just nothing to me, as I trying to figure out how to use them and they were very cold around me (btw I have got ASD).It is pretty easy and as I finish I didnt know where to pay and then people were looking at me and thinking "what is this girl doing" and I ask a member of staff they told me to go to self check out or the till. I struggled and I have noticed that a lot of customers were moody and they don't bother to say excuse me please and stuff. The staff has helped me out and I actually gave credit for them and it is pretty easier but check out is the problem. As soon as I get to know how to use them, more than I get to know and feel better. I feel like it is a lot easier.

Scan as you shop is great and the kids love it, you must make sure everything is scanned or the alarms at the exit will trip out Edit: which particular store is this that you shop at ?

MissBudgetBeauty okay, just looked a bit like my local store lol. We use this scan as you go often but always make sure the kids scan each barcode as once they didn't scan a barcode item and the alarms went off very loudly almost making me never want to go in that store again lol. Also I have barcode tattoo on my wrist so every time I go to a supermarket I often get random kids approach me with these scanners and try to scan me !

MissBudgetBeauty I worked in the Wilkinson's store and our alarm gates where programmed to respond to go off if it detected an unscanned barcode. Some stores program the security to detect tags at the alarm gates and some stores program the alarm gates to detect barcodes and tags. I know Tesco alarm gates are programmed for barcodes but that will vary store to store depending on which device they want the alarm gates to detect. Been lucky with my barcode tattoo though up to now, it's not set any alarms off at the exits lol

Also is this scanner meant just for self service tills? If so it's no use to me as I prefer going to a cashier.

MissBudgetBeauty More self service tills = less staff needed= job losses= more profits for the company. Just popped into Poundland in Wandsworth shopping centre which has now doubled its self service tills. Only 2 cashiers on the normal tills instead of the usual 5 and a long queue. It's a slippery slope.

@@DominosAndHearts you go the the front of the store swipe your club card and pickup a scanning gun now go shopping but as you put stuff in your cart scan its barcode and then put it into your grocery bags now carry on doing this till your done now go to the checkout scan the barcode on the machine and pay and your done walk out the store and don't forget to put the barcode gun back

I love that they use android! Give the android team some boost, android runs on everything while ios is so locked down it only runs on phones and apple tv thats it.

I wouldn't let kids lose on the device as I can see them scanning the items more than once.

MissBudgetBeauty also the barcode scanners are very bright and can damage eyesight, especially little kids eyes. It is totally fine so long as they don't look into the scanner laser as the radiation is dangerous,

I'm confused. This isn't new and I've been using it for about 3 years. I know they bought out new Clubcard that apparently were different from the last ones somehow. Not hating at all as I wish I had a car so I could go and use it again (sadly) but online delivery will have to do for now 😔😢

Julie Cross perhaps they had it in certain stores as a trial? We definitely only got it in our Tesco this year. I assume they're promoting it now because people weren't using it?
