The Ohio State house in columbus was originally built from bricks made from clay and mud from an native burial ground that resided on the intersection of Mound Street and High Street in down town Columbus. (Hence the name Mound Street) The building of the state house, as mentioned, was shrouded with bad luck during it’s construction. Many believe there is a correlation between the chaotic construction of the building and the destruction/ demolition of the native mound. Mound Street is not far from State Street, where the state house currently resides, I’d say about 5 blocks distance as well.

There's a Mound St. in Miamisburg Ohio too. There is a huge mound (called "the mound") , on Mound Hill at the top of Mound st. I lived about a block from The Mound; and my family always saw indigenous Indian ghost walking through our back yard at night.

These are some of the more famous haunts but i lived in a house in Mansfield Oh, that would make you crap yourself 7 nights a week, constant shadow people, stuff moving, ice cold air, rancid smells. I once seen a ghost so clearly that i could tell it was holding a knife while standing over me, that's the incident that made me move.

A lot of haunted places in Ohio,I lived in what turned out to be a maternity hospital for poor unmarried women,I didn't know that when i moved in but i constantly was woken up with a baby crying next door to the point i finally called the police thinking someone was leaving their baby home alone at night. The police came and called the landlord to open the door and no one had lived there in over a year and there was no sign of squatters or homeless. I finally moved a few days later ,when I told my mother about it she told me about the history of it.

I feel like all in Ohio have. I lived in a house in Cincinnati that when I was in 8th grade I got home before anyone else, I was downstairs in the living room when I hear plain as day what sounded like boots walking in my room. (All wood floor and steps) Footsteps went to the top of the steps and stopped so I waited a second then heard the boots come flying downstairs as if someone was running. I never ran out of that house so fast didn’t go back in until my parents came home. My dad did a house sweep thinking someone broke in. I remember him talking to the landlord when he said his great grandfather built the house when he came back from the war. Lastly I was playing with my dogs and we were all wrestling when I heard a man’s voice yell “quit it!” The dogs froze and myself included. It was odd but those are the two biggest notes.

Fun fact about the buxton inn. When repainting the buxton inn and stripping back layers of pain the exact same shade of blue they were repainting was found when stripping back the layers of paint. The little bell collar of the deceased cat is said to be heard in the halls late at night. As well of reports of a girl in a blue dress looking out the window

Wilson Hall and the Ridges at Ohio University should definitely be added to the list. I stayed in Wilson Hall my freshman year and was able to get in to the old psych ward building used for early lobotomies. It was named as the 8th most haunted place in the US at one point and they still do guided tours of the ridges and sealed off room in Wilson Hall. Check it out!!

When I was a kid we walked through the moonville tunnel on a hike. I've been to the state House on a school field trip. I live outside Granville when I was in 3rd grade we had a your of the buxton inn and watched videos on the supposed haunting. During the summer before my surgery we went to the buxton inn to eat because I was super into ghosts. Our waitress as very nice we told her about my interest in ghosts and my surgery and sue took us on a little tour of the most haunted places in the buxton inn and she gave me a free book. I'm not from Granville, I'm not even from America but this video hits so close to home it's insane.

@@FrightNightScaresthe Ridges, formerly the Athens lunatic insane asylum is the oldest asylum in the state of Ohio, it was built in 1868 and opened in 1874 where it housed many civil war veterans. The asylum originally had very humain practices but when it became overcrowded, the quality of care dwindled. This is around the time when lobotomies first started to be preformed on patiences in the basement of the asylum. The asylum closed in 1993 and the property was transferred to Ohio University who has been maintaining it since, Cottage B, the old tuberculosis ward, was demolished in 2013 due to students exploring the building, which was full of asbestos due to fireproofing standards in the early twentieth century. Many ghost tails surround the old asylum, including the story of the “stain”. The “stain” is where a girl in the 1970’s was lost during a game of hide and seek, her body was discovered 3 months later, her clothes where neatly folded and placed on the window sill, he decomposing body left a stain on the concrete floor, one university student touched the stain and went insane, killing herself in her dorm room in Wilson hall.

@@FrightNightScares Said by some to be the most haunted place in Ohio, Dead Mans Curve does seem to have a dark history. This allegedly haunted stretch of road is between Amelia and Bethel in the village of Bantam in Clermont County, where Route 222 meets route 125. Urban Legend says that this stretch of road is haunted by a faceless hitchhiker. He is said to roam this area late at night, usually between 1:20 and 1:40 AM, hitching a ride, sometimes appearing in the middle of the road where unsuspecting drivers hit him, only to jump and chase your car afterwards. People report seeing this strange man on the side of the road, others tell of their car being pelted with rocks from someone unseen. Those who have gotten close enough to him to get a good look all report the same thing, theres no sign of a face at all, just blackness! The road itself does have a reputation for being dangerous. After all, it’s not called Dead Man’s Curve for nothing. However, oddly, theres not even much of a curve at Dead Man’s Curve, at least not anymore. That stretch of road was originally part of the Ohio Turnpike, built in 1831. The original road was designed in a way that it curved sharply at the top of a hill, causing many horses and carriages to slip or roll over and down the hillside,in turn, causing many deaths. It was a two lane highway until 1968 when it was straightened and widened to four lanes. There was said to have been a celebratory ribbon cutting commemorating the end of Dead Man’s Curve. However, this turned out to be a bit premature. A month later, there was a huge accident at the intersection. An Impala with 5 teenagers inside was hit by a green Roadrunner, said to have been traveling at 100 mph. Only one person survived the wreck .By most accounts, it was after this accident that the faceless hitchhiker started to appear. There have also been reports of a green roadrunner chasing drivers down this stretch of road from time to time since then. Since that accident, it’s said that over 70 people have been killed at that intersection. We haven’t verified this number yet, but we do know there have been numerous accidents there. Considering the road is pretty much a flat, straight run, this fact does seem a bit weird. I’m not sure why the time from 1:20 to 1:40 is when ole’ faceless likes to cause trouble, but I guess it might have something to do with the time of the accident.

Grew up in two houses that were haunted AF. Would love to find out if some of the rumored history of the places was true. The first house (lived in til age 4) was supposedly host to a murder. And whatever was there hated our cat. Second place was haunted twice. The original owner's son was supposed to inherit it, but he died in a crash coming home from his time in military service. Then, we had a house fire (arson caused by my sister's ex) that killed several pets. We would see a black cat whenever that person would call to harass us.

An article from the Akron Beacon Journal about Chris Woodyard, author of the Haunted Ohio books, says that “the statue of the Confederate soldier has been ‘to turn on its pedestal, then raise its bugle and blow revelry.’” Also, many years ago Italian workers, who spoke no English, started whistling “Dixie.” (This should get you started.) PS - I do research for a living.

People who believe these stories are naïve… you waste your money to go sit in the middle of the woods in some of the poorest counties in Ohio, where there is nothing absolutely nothing!! But those of us who have spent our lives living in these poor counties, appreciate the money you spend in our towns… although I must say we have a good laugh on behalf of the naïve ghost hunters… Who come here and entertain us with their stupidity!! And the Moonville tunnel remains standing because it is a tourist attraction…

@@FrightNightScareswent to a few field trips at music hall, saw the nutcracker as a kiddo. Recently, last year - went to a Wedding there! It was gorgeous. There was a time I was in the bathroom in the basement, & I heard a woman in heels come down the steps & wait for the 1 stall I was in. When I came out, no one was there. I’ve grown up with a lot of experiences, particularly in the 513 area. So I shrugged it off 😂went back to the party. A few other times I could hear people talking that definitely weren’t there - like whispers all around, but I was on the dancefloor with loud ass music. So that could have been after something knew I could see/hear them & maybe a few other spirits approached close to me. Nothing was bad vibes though, even alone in that bathroom. I kinda giggled, like the spirit had to pee & was messing with me lol. Ohio certainly has cool spots. Waverly Hills Sanatorium was one of the coolest & most active places I’ve ever experienced, by far! Highly recommend.
