GUTS SEASON 5 SCORING: (Via ‪@tominatorK‬ )
Base Points:
1st place: 4
2nd place: 2
3rd place: 0
Bonus Leaderboard Points:
1st place (Run the Board): If the contestant who came in 1st came in 1st place on every event throughout the episode including the Crag, they get +1 point.
2nd place (Never Last): If the contestant who came in 2nd never came in 3rd place on any event including the Crag, they get +1 point.
3rd place (Broke 1000): If the contestant who came in 3rd got more than 1000 points by the end of the episode, they get +1 point.
Shoot your Shot Point:
At the end of the 1st event, every team chooses what they think their contestant will place in the 3rd event. This is unrelated to the total scores and is only concerned with the result of this specific 3rd event. If the team correctly chooses the result of their contestant in this event, they get +1 point.

The new rules on scoring are much better this season. I like the bonus points and the “call your shot” point too … This is going to be a SPICY season

Yep. Glad this is working out. Thought going in that this was the best system they've had: Known, equal draft picks to enable trading, 4-2-0 so 2nd places aren't killer, reset episodes to enable catchup, and the bonus points to keep everyone invested every episode. It's a great ruleset to keep it interesting through every episode and through the whole season. Even the bonus points ranked is probably 3rd place's as easiest (crack 1000), 2nd place's (never 3rd), and then 1st place's as the hardest (run the table).

@@thomasgraf1986 Yep, kept waiting for anyone to realize that's what probably happened. Don't normally have 3 minutes used up in the pool. I do wish the show would have just cut the recap before the crag down a bit to make some time, but what they did was cut the event. At least the event they cut was my least favorite in the whole show. I'd much rather have the high jump with the paint on the wall than this version of it where there's only 4 possible results. That one was messy, but there's probably some way to fix it up better than this.

@@ImRanchWilderno they usually tape them up as they go. So they have the 6’9 one up first then when they do the 7’5 one they tape that measurement as to not confuse people. So the biggest number you see is the one being jumped over at that time.

Insane episode. The new system is working AMAZINGLY. Absolutely insane how things fell perfectly to give Jimmy last this episode. Jean was two feet away from taking first in the water event and couldn't make it. That plus Meagan coming in 1st and Jean coming in last on the Crag by a split second was the difference that pushed Jimmy's contestant into last place. Also, Jake now not only holds the record for the only person having his contestants get DQed, but now has had the only contestant in GUTS history to cry.

They should’ve just scrapped the recap before the crag instead but they chose to scrap jump 3 for some reason. It’s so funny how we talk about this show like it’s happening today but this episode is from 1994 I believe lol

Great episode!! I have to admit I wasn't sold on the scoring (I like the big points and GUTS scoring), but the bonus points definitely make things far more interesting than the 3, 2, 1 or 4, 2, 0 straight scoring, which is just tie central

It’s like they don’t tell the kids they’re RACING, fastest time WINS. I remember thinking that a little when I was a kid too. You wanted everyone to try as hard as possible and none of them seem to give it everything they have. It’s weird you would think the kids would understand it’s a competition and they would want to win. The kids sometimes don’t even look like they’re trying or know what or where or when they are
