Lol my mom told me she pays me for chores because she wants me to be able to spend my own money on stuff. If I didn’t get paid for chores I would barely have any money at all.

My moms logic was I allow you to live here, I buy you clothes food and put a shelter over your head....

There are kids who get an allowance too, just money for doing nothing because their parents want them to be allowed to spend money at their own discretion 😂 totally wild to me, as a child because I couldn't believe people got money for not doing anything, and still as an adult because that's how you get 12 year olds buying cigarettes and alcohol from older kids.

I technically got paid for chores, but it was a whole $1/week. And when my parents punished me by making me skip things they paid for I was forced to pay them back. So it basically ended up as a discount for the money I owed them for their decision. Oh and I only got the dollar if I did every chore perfectly. I didn't clean up the pile of my mother's paperwork off the table? There was a single tissue in the trash can after I emptied it which therefore proved I didn't empty it even though my mother put it there after I emptied it and just forgot? No dollar. My last year of high school they "generously" increased it to $2. Also previously when my sister went off to uni I inherited all of her chores with no raise.
