My favorite badass quote in history- In 1912, Kaiser Wilhelm II visited Switzerland as a guest of the Swiss Government. The Swiss army had a standing army of only 500,000, but they were all skilled marksman. Kaiser Wilhelm asked the Swiss king what they would do if Germany invaded with an army of 1 million men. The kings response? “Shoot twice and go home.”

No joke. I have a Swiss K43 rifle, and it is hands down my favorite rifle from my WW2 collection. The Swiss make AMAZING rifles that are absolute TACK DRIVERS. The best trigger I've ever felt on a military rifle, a straight pull bolt, a removable box magazine, and it's all milled, not stamped sheet metal. The build quality on that rifle is as good as many legitimate marksmanship rifles I've used. And it's a standard issue battle rifle with big controls easily manipulated in gloves for cold weather. They are incredible rifles, and a standing military of 500k would be devastating at 3-500 yards and a clear line of sight, which would be rather easy to get in the Swiss Alps. My rifle still has the name and address under the butt plate for who the last person was that it was issued to. Since everyone had to serve, everyone takes a rifle home, and that's how they denote who is supposed to be holding that rifle.

One of my favorite Spartan stories is about a delegation from a neighboring state seeking aid during a famine. After the delegation finished making their appeal to the Spartan king, he said that it was so long he forgot the first half and slept through the second half. They came back the next day with a sack and said, "The bag needs flour." Before giving aid, the king gave one final jab saying, "You didn't need to say 'the bag'."

If it has changed though, than this idea is genius, however instead of just making the end song they actually already made 97% of the video so that should count for something.

They don't have any say in the copyright law. The issue is their automated claim system, which favours basically anyone that makes claims. Even though they might be unjust or with malintent. You're going to find a lot of cases where fraudulent claims were made to make money. After the resolve of the issue, it saw the damaged party to never get any compensation for the mistake of KZfaq.

The problem is the copyright law itself. There is realistically no way youtube could EVER fully scan every video for copyright violations, so the DMCA gives them a "get out of trouble free" card as long as they follow the rules. Those rules unfortunately require them to automatically take action. When a company posts DMCA or copyright claims, youtube takes whatever action is requested and BAM! off the hook - it's between the company and the uploader now. If youtube looked at the DMCA\Copyright claims and actually reviewed them, they IMMEDIATELY become responsible for whatever the uploader posted, and might be on the hook for ALL other videos from then on. It's the LAW ITSELF that makes it this way. It's all or nothing - either you comply to the letter and be exempt form what your uploaders are doing, or you take action for EVERYTHING which at youtube's volume of content isn't possible. If you want this to change, call your MP / government representative.

@@zozolinakrejzolina At a certain size of daily uploads, going up on KZfaq's servers it is impossible to manually review videos. Only when they being fought over/ copyright claims being disputed. While the video is being claimed the party that claimed it earns the revenue. Which was used quite a loot as a quick scam. That has been repeatedly been an issue. I'm not certain that they actually changed something to prevent abuse of this system.

I want to say thank you for this channel. It has inspired me to go back to schools, and get my masters in history. I found my lost love of history, and my drive to go into education. I now have so many ideas to use to teach in class. It has reconstituted my drive to research the past for things to teach throughout the past.

I Love your channel Karl. Greetings from a 16 year-old kid in Chicago! I love how you stuck it to 'em. I also love the authenticity of your channel, and your dedication to making this happen without throwing away that authenticity. I am serious. This channel really quenches my thirst for knowledge in a way that I look forward to it. You also understand the magnitude of the facts that you tell us and that's not something I see in school very often, Even in my AP classes that people CHOOSE to take. I can't tell you how immensely grateful I am for your channel. You seem like a very wise young man. And let's not forget about Brad because he edits and puts in the funny clips and gives the channel it's taste/style that makes the channel what it is. Which is one of the reasons why it's great that you didn't take that deal from Studio71 because Brad does a great job. Both of you, Brad and Karl, thanks. A toast to you from Chicago.

Best laconic statement I have heard. Traveling sales man came up to our farm house one day when I was a boy. My father politely told him he was not interested and told him good day repeatedly but the guy would not take the hint. Followed him in to his garage where he had all the parts for a V8 that he was building custom arranged on a towel on his work bench. Traveling sales man dumps his stuff right on top of it. Meanwhile his doberman Lady ( formerly a junkyard dog) had been slowly creeping up on the guy. When he plopped his junk on top of my dad's V8 Lady reacted to my father aggravation and stuffed her nose up the guys ass and let out a deep snarl. The conversation ended as follows. Sales man" dose that dog bite?" My father "stick around, we will find out"

A really good bad ass quote from WW2 I read about was after some americans were surrounded by germans, a soldier ran up to his officer telling "we're surrounded". The american officer replied "The fools"

"I'll change your fucking life" is the biggest power move/word that I have never been more glad to experience. It's astounding how much power that one short phrase exudes, I wonder what it's like to see it used firsthand.

Not quite. The old man at the Olympic theatre said" you see all Greeks know what is right, but it is only the Spartans that do it". Good video.

One of my personal favorites spartan quotes is this: A spartan soldier, upon seeing he had painted a real size fly on his shield was asked "why the fly? are you scared to be noticed?" to which he replied "for you it is just a fly, for my enemy it will be a giant"

When I was in college, I did a summer aboard in Oxford,UK. On the 4th of July all the USA students went to the local pub to celebrate. After a few pints one of the students, a big Penn State Football player, stood up and ask in a loud voice " What are we celebrating? Are victory or their defeat." At this I paid my bill and left. You see, I am a lover not a fighter. :) On the walk back to the dorms I had to cross a big road. I looked left, right, left. Took one step and a huge truck(ok a huge lorry) passed me less than a foot away. I sobered up right there. Remember in the UK it is right left right

my Favorite line from history the Chasseurs Ardennais in WW2 when the German Commander asked they where are the of your man and the answer was We Were All, they were only 40 Man vs the Wehrmacht in the Ardennes during the invasion of Belgium. Erwin Rommel said : "They are not men, they are green wolves".
