And what's more...God specifically told us to listen to what the rabbis teach, in the absence of the Temple (Deut. 17:8-11). In Biblical times, the Judges had to be rabbis, so they were the teachers of God's Laws.

Thank you for the scripture references, I have been immersed in the Tanakh for a few days now and HaShem has opened my eyes. What is amazing to me is learning about the truth of the free will we have in him. The questions I had before over the last 20 years that I was told “we don’t ask, we just believe Jesus by faith” the Tanakh has answered in just a moment of reading the Torah as the inspired word from HaShem. Something I’ve noticed since repenting of my idolatrous worship of Jesus is that I have a new respect and love for my fellow man. Those who believe and those who don’t, those who are stuck in idolatry, that are ridiculing me for repenting and turning to HaShem, they don’t upset me, you know why? Because with this wisdom there is no doubt, I admit I did love Jesus but I doubted. When I was a very little child, HaShem nor his word was in my home, yet I looked at the trees and everything around me and I knew he was real. I was abused severely, but HaShem was with me and I knew it. When I met those who taught Jesus I was told that I was not worthy to have talked to HaShem in my childhood, that only those who knew Jesus could, I was made to believe that what I knew of HaShem was not real. Now 20+ years later, He brought me back to him. Thank you for encouraging your listeners to read the Tanakh for themselves, it has opened my eyes and I’m thankful.

If I was atheist/agnostic, I would see this as a great argument though. For instance, Why would Hashem create an "adversary" to make us fall. Why would he create us because of "love" and then create someone to make us fall and suffer? Is he responsible of the destruction of HIS two temples? Why would he make his children and first born(Israel) suffer so much. Why would he let the romans and babylonians destroy his house? Why would he let Jesus deceive multiple of his creatures? All of that was created by God because he created Satan, Therefore how is the Hashem good? Is the human race a CIRCUS? Did he create us for entertainment purposes? He tells us he loves us, then makes someone to make us fall and accuses us of sinning against him? That is why I see a problem with the view of Satan as Hashem's servant. What do you guys think? @@isaacbermudez7837 the love of God is different to the love of man. Gods love starts with giving of choice. Live or die. You must 1st be alive to be given a choice yes. He is life those that hate him reject him. Those that choose death die spiritually 1st and then physically. Human love is mixed with self interest and so has difficulty facillitating the desire to die in the object of there affection and would even deprive that object of choice which through desperation becomes a desire to control others. Mankind is generally disconnected from God on a spiritual level and so they must recieve intimate personal awareness of him before they can recieve a choice. No one knows when another individual will recieve an understanding of the voice of God. He is known through knowledge of good and evil on the individual level(torah is an example) Each time we obey him in our hearts and minds (in our secret place) we choose life and our character soul ego is moulded by his word and spirit.

A much simpler explanation and not complicated at all The word Satan שטן in Hebrew means stumbling block! That means it does not even have to be an angel! It can be anything that bothers a person is called in Hebrew Satan! For example - in Numbers Chapter 22:22 there is a angel who stands in front of the donkey and prevents him from passing ! Or 1 Kings Chapter 11:14 A man is a devil to another man And in general in the Book of Psalms chapter 109: 4 there is a use of the root "ש.ט.ן" -" תַּֽחַת־אַהֲבָתִ֥י יִשְׂטְנ֗וּנִי - -וַאֲנִ֥י תְפִלָּֽה׃In return for my love they are my adversaries; but I am all prayer. Thus the word Satan in Hebrew is a legitimate word and has nothing to do with what Christians or Muslims call Satan

Christian theology does not teach that Satan is the arch-enemy of God as equal to him. That is a straw man argument. We actually believe the same that Satan is a servant of God. We believe that God is sovereign and almighty. Satan cannot do anything evil unless God permits him to. Christianity does not have a 'yin-yan' perspective to God and Satan. You fail to acknowledge that the Tanak is part of our canon. Our explanation for this apparent contradiction is identical. We maintain that Satan, the adversary, consistently wages war against the good in us. He is the Tempter. In fact, James 4:7 says "resist the devil and he will flee from you." So yes, Christianity actually teaches that we can defeat Satan. Moreover, the longer ending of the Gospel of Mark teaches this allusion to Genesis 3 when it says Christians will trample on serpents. And, Jesus Christ Himself teaches this when He said that He has given His disciples authority to trample on snakes and scorpions in Luke 10:19. Rabbi Singer, you do a great job on pointing out issues between the Septuagint and the Masoretic text, the strange quotations of the Tanak found in the Gospels, and the contradictions between the Gospels. However, what you fail to do is explain the Christian apologetic to those issues. Rather you just state them and attack the faith. A good critic tackles their opponent's point of view by fully representing these views. I will concede that your best argument against the Christian faith is the Trinity. The doctrine is very difficult to explain because it is a paradox. How can we explain an existential paradox to which we have no point of reference? This makes it hard for Jews to see one God. I will hand it to you, the Trinity is a hard doctrine to accept, especially coming from a rigorous monotheistic perspective. However, I will maintain that Christianity does not teach 3 gods, it teaches 1 God. I believe in 1 God. I do not, I cannot, and I will not believe in 3 gods. He is One! Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.

"We actually believe the same that Satan is a servant of God." If Satan is a servant of God, then when Satan temps people, he does so at the behest of God. That means God temps people. @@chad969 I would encourage you to read Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology. He explains this well. There are primary causes and secondary causes. God does not make Satan do evil but he permits him to. Satan wants to tempt and devastate but only does as God permits. The book of Job is an excellent example. So this applies even to temptations. God permits Satan to tempt us, He does not make Satan tempt us.

The Messiah prophesied in the Tanakh !! 1). Who is a man called woman’s seed in Tanakh ?: • Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. • Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. • Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. 2). About the Messiah, God (YHWH) said by the word: “I AM HE” • Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I AM HE: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. • Isaiah 43:13 Yea, before the day was I AM HE; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it? • Isaiah 43:25 I, EVEN I, AM HE that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. • Isaiah 52:6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I AM HE that doth speak: behold, it is I.

This comment is to Tovia Singer. It is not in regard to this video. If you are a Jew, if you worship the God of Abraham, Issac, and Judah, and if you acknowledge than Nathan was a true prophet, note these verses in II Samuel 12:13 And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. 14 Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. Because you have patience with Christian's, I will tell you how I read this passage. David, did not die for his sin. The son of David died for his David's sin. I began this letter in this fashion, because two of my Biblical quotes were deleted from your channel, and one of your commenters who seems to be a friend of yours, says he respects the Torah, but not so much the prophets. Here Nathan says this is from God, and not himself. If you tell me that Nathan did not speak from God, then please do not call yourself a Jew. The same especially goes for the aforementioned commenter, and who ever deleted my quotes from the Bible. You can tell me you believe in Moses and the prophets, but not the New Testament. I respect that. I will try to persuade you from time to time that Jesus is the Father(John 8:24). Perhaps, I am riled up because of the aforementioned commenter. Perhaps you did not delete my quotation of Isaiah 1 and another passage from the prophets. If my indignation is misdirected, please forgive my manner, but tell me you did not delete Bible(in this case Old Testament, KJV) quotations. Also, if you believe that the first chapter of Isaish is not from God, please tell me here publicly. Examine your heart. Disputing whether the New Testament is from God based on a common agreement that the Old Testament (a Christian term) is from God is a righteous thing to do, if both parties love and seek the truth. If the other party believes in neither, that is alright if he acknowledges such. Again, if you do believe in Moses and the prophets(Old Testament) and love these words from God, please forgive my misdirected indignation. If not, I stand by my words above. All of us have sinned. You know that is in the Old Testament as well as the New. I listened to you to understand the viewpoint of Jews who do not believe that Jesus is the God of Abraham. If both of us live the truth, then we love God, and I believe we will come into agreement. Because of the manner of this letter, I will tell you that I saw Him on February 23, 1983. I only expect that you will talk to God and read the Torah, and hopefully the prophets. In the Love of the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, William K. Earl

16Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,”fn who is Christ. 17And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ,fn that it should make the promise of no effect. 18For if the inheritance is of the law, it is no longer of promise; but God gave it to Abraham by promise. 19¶What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. 21¶Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26¶For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

@Strava 89 So from the testimony of the Jewish people they have directly seen God on Mount Sinai. From my understanding there was no evidence of the Exodus and hence the journey through the wilderness. Not to mention evidence that appears to directly contradict the Exodus narrative. Also, the Documentary hypothesis would bring some doubt as to the validity of the story from the bible itself as the authors would not have witnessed any such events since they would be written much later by other authors (not Moshe). I am not sure if the documentary hypothesis is completely correct but the Torah was clearly written by multiple people and some areas definitely shows signs of a much later date than Moshe. I am unsure of what the oral traditions provide in way of clarification but I am not convinced the story of Sinai is real. What is your reasoning as to why you think it really happened? Maybe you have some evidence I do not.

Adam was created good, but not righteous. For what purpose was Adam created, when God had already created angles (and the other inhabitants of the universe - Gen 1: 26 let us make man in our image)? Notice that the tree in the midst of Eden is called the tree of knowledge of good and evil...and that if they were to eat of it they would surely die on the same day they ate from it. In Gen 3 the serpent raises doubt that leads to rebellion against God which changes her...she became evil (as did Adam), and in the natural course of action (being evil) she ate the fruit...giving her evidence that she knew evil. Eve became evil, but God did not predestine her or Adam to fail, but he did create them with free-will i.e. which means they had the potential to sin (and fall and die); but the ideal scenario was they did not sin & die but would go on to seek after life to spring up in themselves i.e. righteousness in themselves, no longer dependant on the the good fruit, herbs etc for life in their original state of being. After they ate the fruit they knew they were naked - their deeds were uncovered, and they sewed fig leaves to cover their wrongs. Now humanity - in the orignal pair - has no free-wiil, but sin arising from within their now evil hearts of stone (Ezek11) made them its desire..but they could rule over it once they were saved (saw past the sacrifice of the firstling of the flock their need for salvation from their fallen state). Only then can man have any free-will. God's spirit takes our prayers (He is the fire on the altars, if you would have it, that burns up our sin offerings and our incense (prayers for change - like the prayers Abraham offered up for Sodom, Moses offfered up for Israel, Enoch offered up for the wicked) that makes them acceptable . Yes we can't ask properly having no free-will, butGod interprets our cries and our needs and answers them. The lusts that live inside us, control us and deny us free-will. Salvation is the beginning of true free-will, when we can see where we do wrong. Without salvation we are cursed to justify our wrongs and use the treat of war or inticement; and can never choose to do right. Also, God has to deal with a multitude of different minds, servants, his children with all sorts of beliefs and un god-like ideas...so he uses language that is in synch with where we are. God is not an accuser, he blames himself - this is why we read God says I will kill them, yet He also says I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked.

It's not a contradiction actually when you know that Satan has to obey God also. Just as when Job was tested by God using Satan. Simply read Job and see that it was God's favor on Job that provoked Satan to allow him to test Job which God then accepts the challenge. Also God sent a lying spirit so that Ahab would fall and die so that God's word will be fulfilled that he spoke by his prophet. So no real Christian has a problem at all with this. God does as he sees fit and answers to no man

Matthew's temptation narrative recounts 5 Jesus' spiritual preparation for ministry; the event contrasts the disobedience of Ancient Israel with the obedience of Jesus; representative of the new Israel. Israel and Jesus are both called God's Son. The temptations of both Israel and Jesus are preceded by a baptism. Israel was tested for 40 years; Jesus is tempted for 40 days and 40 nights. Israel failed it's wilderness testing; while Jesus triumphs over Satan through obedience and self abasement. These parallels are supported by Jesus three responses to the devil taken from Deut 6-8. These texts Deut 8;3 6;16 6;13 warned the Israelites against disobedience and reminded them of God's provisions in the wilderness. Jesus victory sets an example for Christian obedience. Earthly life is a wilderness trial for God's people en route to the land of heaven. Through this probationary period; God wills the faithful to overcome temptations from the world; the flesh and the devil. Triumph is possible through penance and obedience to God's word.

The "New Testament" is NOT scripture that was given to mankind by God, but is a false, pagan, man-made, anti-God, anti-Jewish, hate-filled, replacement theology work of fiction, and the "Old Testament" is only a twisted, mistranslated, taken out of context, bastardized, Christianized VERSION of God's original words to us - i.e. BLASPHEMY!! When God gave us His Hebrew scriptures on Mt. Sinai, He specifically told us that they are ETERNAL (i.e. STILL in effect and binding TODAY - a LIVING document!) and that we are NOT to follow ANY other teaching than what is in His Hebrew scriptures. Christianity IS another teaching that God NEVER gave to us, therefore, we are not to follow its false, pagan teaching - God's orders! Also, God ABHORS human sacrifice (a purely PAGAN ritual!) therefore, the 'Jesus dying on a cross for people's sins' narrative just did NOT happen! PLEASE do some honest research on how your false, pagan religion started, and you WILL discover that it absolutely did NOT come from God, Creator of the universe.

For those who love to ridicule Christian belief I offer this explanation from a well known Christian teacher. "David probably ordered this census about 975 B.C. "After the revolutions of both Absalom and Sheba it would have been reasonable for David to reassess his military situation against the possibility of similar uprisings or other emergencies." In support of this hypothesis is the fact that Joab and the army commanders were able to take over nine months to gather the population statistics (v. 8). This suggests a very peaceful condition in Israel that characterised David's later reign but not his earlier reign. The writer of Chronicles wrote that Satan (perhaps an adversarial neighbor nation since the Hebrew word satan means "adversary") moved David to take the census (1 Chron. 21:1). Yet in verse 1 the writer of Samuel said God was responsible. Both were true; God used an adversary to bring judgment on the objects of His anger (cf. Job. 1-2; Acts 2:23). "… paradoxically, a divinely-sent affliction can be called a 'messenger of Satan' (2 Cor 12:7 …)." "God, though He cannot tempt any man (Jas. 1:13), is frequently described in Scripture as doing what He merely permits to be done; and so, in this case, He permitted Satan to tempt David." We can identify perhaps four levels of causality in verse 1. God was the final cause, the primary instrumental cause was Satan, the secondary instrumental cause was some hostile human enemy, and David was the efficient cause. The Lord was angry with Israel for some reason. He evidently allowed Satan to stir up hostile enemy forces to threaten David and Israel (cf. Job 1-2). In response to this military threat, David chose to number the people. David's choice was not his only option; he chose to number the people. He sinned because he failed to trust God. The Lord did not force David to sin. Quite clearly David took the census to determine his military strength. Taking a census did not constitute sin (cf. Exod. 30:11-12; Num. 1:1-2). David's sin was apparently placing confidence in the number of his soldiers rather than in the Lord. "

Islam is for everyone! Prophet Mohammed peace be upon him was sent to all nations. Allah loves all of his creations; he doesn’t favor one race over another. Modern Hebrews lost the message when they started to question Allah! They also proffered the man-written talmud over the torah. Allah choose many prophets from the ancient Hebrew to spread the message of the One true creator and to hold the commandments. This message is sent to all mankind & persuasived till the time of Judgement.

je&moi-meme * From the Quran; Surat Al-Baqarah (Verse 255) Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

If I was atheist/agnostic, I would see this as a problem though. I'm not a FOLLOWER of Rabbi Tovia, but rather a student.

יצחק Bermudez Hashem allows this evil to take place in order to test people. He created man with a choice to do good or bad. Hashem told you to always choose the good. If people chose to do evil, they will be enabled to do evil. In this world and the next, people will be rewarded and punished accordingly. Hashem does everything for the good. He is also the King of kings. Being king He also has servants which He created to perform certain tasks. One of those servants is the Satan. Hashem wanted the Satan to tempt people to sin. That’s his job. People can certainly choose not to sin and pass the test and again, they will be rewarded for it. Hashem wants a relationship with his people, in order for there to be a relationship there has to be obstacles in the way for you to seek out G-d. You’re supposed to look for Him amid all the evil that’s in this world. Yes, Hashem destroyed both Temples, better to destroy both Temples than the nation of Israel. No this world is not a circus, rather a proving ground to determine whether you will merit to have a share in the world to come or not.

Brian GC Isaiah 45 v7 says explicitly that Hashem creates good and evil. Hashem creates every concept and act of kindness for man to do and creates every possible sin available to man. Hashem has the Satan tempt mankind to sin so as to test them.

@Strava 89 There is freedom of religion as that also is freedom of choice. A Jew could also run away from his people and land in an attempt to escape exact punishment. Jewish history also shows that many displayed foreign practices openly. I think that the real question is wether or not a practice is acceptable, tolerable and permissable; as there is a difference. Freedom of "Religion" In the book of Joshua the people are given the opportunity to choose their "religion" as it were, as even before this they were told to choose life (Torah observance) over death (rejection of Torah). If you judge the word "freedom" by the Westernized Liberal "anything goes" ideal, then you are misleading both yourself and others from the pre-liberalized understanding of the word freedom. Here's an example.... Imagine going out to the African Safari for a guided tour. You are in a group of foot travelers and an experienced, armed guide. Before the actual off-road treck begins, you are given some instructions amongst them are to listen to the directions of your guide as well as not to stray off the beaten trail. Most sound people would excitedly join and without hesitation obey the commands given. No one really thinks about the consequences of disobedience to their guide; will I be devoured by an animal? Get Kidnapped by a marauding Safari tribe? Contract an unknown disease? Only the foolish would think about straying. The outcome of straying is not up for discussion - "it is what it is." It is much the same with the Torah. We have commands and instructions that guide us on this beaten path in life. It's all ruff and tuff, but we can't control the outcome of straying off the track we've been put on. We surely have the ability to stray; but would exercising that "ability" really be "freedom"? It's much like young children wanting to fly, so they ignore their parent's warnings, wrap around their backs make-believe wings and jump off the high kitchen table! Their ability to do the wrong thing is not freedom - it's stupidity - their fateful fall brought them to injury. True (actual) freedom is being wise. Fake freedom, is stupidity which fools use to test the laws of nature and the not yet seen reality of making a bad choice. I hope this explanation makes sense.

@Strava 89 As a Torah observant Jew, I can tell you that there is no "compelling" in the Torah for a Jew to oblige a non-Jew to keep the Noahide commandments. I don't know from where you obtained that thought. I'd encourage you to ask multiple educated individuals before making a belief. Even upon making a belief always be open to evidence based on original sources particular to the subject discussed. FY.I the information I provided you is not uniquely mine, but rather the reality and that which is deeply embedded in Judaism.

Yes there is. Isaiah 48 12-17, the first and the last, the creator of the world was sent (and loved) by YHHW and his spirit. Isaiah 44 24 YHHW created the earth alone. Combine that with Isaiah 48 the only way to solve it is with trinity (YHHw father and YHHW in the son (Jeremiah 23 5-6)). Pslams 45 6-7 God was sent by God. Isaiah 9 5-6 The Messiah is called "אל גבור". Four times in the bible three times about God. Jeremiah 23 5-6 The messiah is called YHHW our righteous. Zechariah 13 7 "עמיתו"Gods fellow, aka equal to God. Also Genesis 1 26 with combination of Isaiah 44 24. Search in youtube trinity in the old testament by inspiring philosephy.

@@samsungkartit God is not three, god is one. One God in three different figures. The trinity emerges from verses where God has physical body (like Exodus 33 20-23, Exodus 24 9-10, Ezekiel 1 26-28), a character that is God but also God appears in the same verse as a separated being (Pslams 45 6-8 , Isaiah 48), The Messiah is named by the name of God (Almighty God Isaiah 9 5-6, YHHW our righteous Jeremiah 23 5-6). Another way the trinity emerges is when the Messiah gets treated like God (Micah 5 1-2 was born in Bethlehem but always existed, Zechariah 13 7 fellow of God, in Hebrew "עמיתו" means his equal in work). Read Isaiah 48 12-17, read Pslams 45 6-8. Read every verse I gave reference to. Search "the trinity in the old testament here in youtube".
