Fatal Forecast: Tsunamis - Deadly Forces of Nature: • Most Powerful Forces o...
They are naturally-created machines that operate with the energy of 10,000 nuclear bombs. They’re tropical storms with wind speeds that can reach up to 230 miles per hour; capable of generating enough electricity to power the entire United States for months. They are tropical cyclones. In the Pacific Ocean, they’re called typhoons; and in the Atlantic, they are… hurricanes. While scientists are working hard to mitigate the damage hurricanes can cause, they generally agree that in the years to come, the risk of hurricanes will get even worse and more unpredictable.

Excellent documentary.I have learned a lot from watching this and other similar documentaries, every bit of advice or guidance to prepare for these hurricanes is a blessing. I live in the tropics so I am very familiar with hurricanes and the preparation of them every year. You never get use to the feeling of anxiety even fear of these natural disasters coming ashore, never taking any situation for granted, you just keep praying and hoping for the best outcome. Thank you so much for posting I am very grateful to all. 🙏🏽

I'm terrified. I live in Massachusetts, 50 miles from the Atlantic Ocean where the rising temperature of the sea makes it more likely that the hurricanes will increase in number. I live in a small home and my deceased husband would be by my side for these events. I'm really praying, for me as well as all who may be in the path of one of these monsters, that we will be safe. (wake me when it's over 😢)

@@Nicole-kr8xn i agree with you, with hurricanes and typhoons the same thing, but as my comment reads, documentaries about typhoons, in WESTERN PACIFIC, so its not the same since their documentary is about hurricane on EASTERN PACIFIC, get it??..

Harvey is a great example that it isn't just the wind. Windspeed for it was Cat 1, but it was all that water that did the damage.

30:32 at least one guy on the bike was wise enough to get the hell out the way lol😂 I mean seriously though what did they think was gonna happen ?? haha gave me a good chuckle. Gotta laugh cause this story of a tragedy was heartbreaking to watch:( crazy I normally know about most major past hurricanes but never heard of Odile 🤦🏽‍♀️

That lady's story was a waste of time, I would have rather listened to a local or from someone who can compare from a similar event they experienced. The worst thing that she said could happen to her was to stay for a month, how about all those people that couldn't just take a flight to their cushy home and escape the aftermath. Such a shallow person, please find more compassionate people to tell these kinds of stories.

I've lived in the tropics my entire life, I'd rather deal with a hurricane than a tornado, blizzard, wild fire or earthquake, people get scared of hurricanes but you usually have 3-7 days notice, you just have to have a plan and a backup plan in case it goes sideways, I rather that than 3 mins to 3 hours notice

That was a good testomony of an outsiders view of hurricanes - ive rode out many hurricanes - katrina was the worst - 200 yr old long leaf 90 ft tall pines that stood against all the huricanes snapped in half diring katrina - i had worked in the gulf of Mexico in the offshore oilfields for decades and seen 50 ft seas during hurricanes - I ride huricaned out in a 20 ft shipping container - most of the time i sleep while storms pass over - I live in a rural area so the power can be knocked out for several months -

A truly scary event...I pray and hope that such events do not ever occur again...I also wonder to what extent the interference of man with nature (of which 'man' is also a part...!) causes or influences these events...!?! Thank FreeDocumentary...

One thing in this documentary that is very false is when it states that Hurricanes primarily form in the southern Atlantic Ocean. Hurricanes never form in the southern Atlantic.

4:44 hurricanes almost never happen in the South Atlantic Ocean, at least, not where you put it in your graphic. They happen in the southern North Atlantic Ocean, but that's different.
