I'm 62 years old. The last time I went on any amusement park ride I was in my 30's. The very last time -- on a flume ride -- I had heart palpitations and haven't gone on any rides since. Now? I can't imagine why anyone would take the risks these kids take. Yet I did, once. But with each one of these, I'm thinking, "possible back injury, neck injury," etc., etc. LOL! Yes, once I did. BTW, about the guy who looks like he fell asleep? People with epilepsy often have seizures on whirly rides.

I'm 67 years old. The last time I went on an amusement park ride, I was at Cedar Point in 2009. Yep, I was 53 years old, riding in the front seat of Millennium Force -- a certified gigacoaster -- at Cedar Point. I'd get back in the same seat tonight, if I could. Love me some coasters!

The last roller coaster I went on was in the late 80's in Virginia. It wasn't by choice, the people I was with talked me into standing in line with then, they said I'd be able to step through when the car stopped, they were wrong! When the ride I didn't want to go on finally ended, they had to PRY my fingers off of the safety bars, as other attendants were yelling at me to get out of the seat! My "friends", one of whom I later married (and divorced) still laugh at how white my face and how red my ears were when we finally got off of The Loch Ness Monster at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Va. NEVER AGAIN! If the life of Someone I loved was in danger if I didn't go on a Coaster..." Well, it was good knowing ya!"

@@leeannjohnson1808 People who nag and badger someone to go on a ride in spite of them insisting they don't want to do so are most emphatically _not_ friends. The ride operator was very wrong to make you ride it, too. I know for a fact that the ride ops at Cedar Point are trained to watch for reluctant riders. They kindly and courteously escort them to the exit so they can wait for their friends. To ridicule you later for having such a strong negative reaction after the ride is just downright nasty. It's not just adding insult to injury. It's adding cruelty to the trauma they inflicted. I'm glad to hear you dumped your bullying husband. If you still hang out with those "friends" who still laugh at you for your visible terror, you need to dump _them,_ too. They are also bullies, and nobody needs "friends" like them. I once badgered a friend into going up the mini Eiffel Tower at King's Island. I thought, "Hey, he tolerates The Beast and other coasters all right. He'll be fine!" I was so, so wrong. Rather than sneering and sniping at him, I held his hands and waited until the next elevator arrived. When we got to the bottom, we sat on a bench, and I apologized abjectly dozens of times. I still consider it to be the single cruelest act of my life, and am deeply ashamed of it. If your friends were really friends, this is how they should be acting.

I'm so happy I got to experience Action Park in its full glory. The funny thing is, the worst part about the rides is that many of them used the water from the creek that runs down the mountain. Thus, no matter what time of year you went, the water was ice cold. It would literally give you a heart attack, when you hit the water.

Action Park's nickname was Traction Park and for good reason. It had different areas and each one was just as dangerous, if not more so, than the previous section. Indeed. I remember hearing on a Dollop podcast episode about Action Park that not only did it have the looping waterslide (which people apparently got stuck in), a rope swing over frigid water, and an alpine slide where most of the sleds had faulty brakes, among other unsafe rides, but it also had a rafting ride where riders would suddenly be plunged into dark tunnels and tagged by unseen protruding rocks. Moreover, most of the staff consisted of teenagers who had more of an apathetic attitude toward the safety and welfare of guests, and would sneak off to get drunk, high, or satisfy hormonal urges.

There are also ITG (In The Groove) machines that are very similar to DDR. My brother and his friends hung out at the mall in the arcade just for this game. They could also all play hard or expert. Our one friend actually proposed to his then girlfriend (who was also awesome at it), right after they finished a doubles song. It was amazing.

As an avid music game person, you got some things wrong at the end there! The guy is playing Pump It Up, not DDR, and it isn't two player mode - just 'doubles' where you play both sides at once. Believe it or not, that level of play is also not uncommon to see. Those of us who play a lot can do even more crazier things :) Cool video as always!

I remember at the Imperial War Museum in London 1982 they had a big tyre swing outside. You laid out on it and this bloke got underneath and he spun it so fast that all the blood rushed to your head and feet. I never dared have a go as it looked too extreme, and the people that did have a go wished they hadn’t. It wasn’t a proper ride or he wasn’t official. He spun on one foot and no kidding this thing was doing about 5 revolutions a second at full speed. Even he could only do it a few times before giving up with the effort it took him. That wouldn't be surprising, these rides are engineered for a certain speed. Most of them assume that you'll have negligible speed at the top, basically just enough to start sliding. If you're giving the riders more momentum to begin with, those calculations either won't work, or they'll have to factor in for that and give a less enjoyable ride for the rest of us.

As a former ride operator for Six Flags and Silverwood, I can certainly say that the two dudes on the duck spinning ride got in absolutely ZERO trouble. Why? Because they weren't actually doing anything wrong. For those types of rides, it happens all the time, and by that, it was a flaw in the ride itself and failed when it was functioning as intended. Be interesting to see if those guys actually got some compensation for the situation.
@SmallSpoonBrigade
@SmallSpoonBrigade Ай бұрын
Yes, nobody was hurt and they were using the ride in a way that is easily foreseeable. The park was very lucky that nobody was hurt as a result of the failure. I'm not sure if they got any compensation, if so, it would probably be int he form of some tickets or meal vouchers, seeing as they weren't actually hurt and probably couldn't have proven damages anyways.

My daughter almost drown in a wave pool. It was her friend's birthday and her friend's parents took her with their family to a water park to celebrate. She lost her grip on her floaty device and went under. Once she went under, she couldn't figure out which way was up and couldn't find the surface of the water. I always taught my kids to let a little air out of your lungs and follow the bubbles to the surface if you ever get disoriented under the water. Of course, this doesn't work in a wave pool. Luckily, her friend's dad saw her go under and not resurface. He was able to get a hold on her hair and pull her up. She said he got her at the very last second she had. Thank, Bill.

The brat kid who was pulling Pluto's tail is part of the reason why many costumed characters have handlers who can talk for them to tell the AH parents that their child is not behaving up to park standards and that continued failure to do so will result in ejection from the park.

Universal's Volcano bay has a couple of them as well. Definitely cross your ankles like they recommend if you don't want to be doing the nutcracker suite out of season. It's a fun slide, but that first second or so on these types of rides is a feeling that isn't easily described. For me personally, it took me a tick to remember that I'm in a slide and not plummeting to my doom because the rest of the slide fell away while I was waiting.

New Jerseyian here. I'm 15, I was born and raised here. When I first watched the Action Park documentary I was honestly shocked at how dangerous it was, like my god. I haven't visited the new Action Park, I want to though, any tips?

I lived about an hour away from Action Park and went at least a hundred times. My friends and I would go early in the morning and stay all day. The last time we went, there were three people injured and required medical attention and were taken out via ambulance.

That's part of the point, That and the fact that a slide with a similar angle would have to be significantly taller if it didn't use that mechanism.

16:30 ah good old action park. Or accident park as we called it. This was still there in the 90's when I went as a kid. They had insane rides that they would never let you get away with today. 30-40 foot jumps off a cliff into 20 foot pools. Mountain luge sledding. Arenas where you drive around in a metal tank in the heat and launch tennis balls at each other. Good times if you were careful. Each time I went I always saw someone jacked up though. One guy I remember got scrapped up from the mountain ride and was covered head to toe in bleeding and cuts.

My most embarrassing thing ive done is when I was on airplane to Spain. A flight attendant was handling food and drink, when she asked us, I wanted some coke. She handed me it and continued down the aisle. Not even a minute later, Mum came down and got one for me. I was embarrassed and confused. 😮😂

As a child I always loved Disney World When Whn I got spooked by Mickey cause of realizing how much taller he was than me he knelt down and tried to reach out to me He still understood and waved bye to us yet a clown from the light parade saw me and raced over to me and didn’t stop even though I was screaming” stop” and was in tears and freaked out Mu dad got me - hugged me - And gave me to mom As he took a tuning start towards the clown The clown took off back towards the parade O was around 6/7 too So I believe it They don’t always come off friendly and can really scare a person They need to remember that the person who hired them can easily fire them too and to try to be more respectful - altruistic- and nice
