Blackhead plucking can be very effective but trying to prevent sebaceous filaments from developing again is key. Using skincare products like Salicylic Acid can help keep the pores clean and free from dirt, oil and dead skin cells. Retinol, Tretinoin, Retinoids, Peptides and Copper Peptides can help keep the skin first, improve texture and tone and decreasing the size of pores.

Sebaceous filaments are a natural structural part of your skin. They help guide sebum to the surface of the skin. You'll never be rid of them, but like you said, you can minimize their appearance.

For me the best way to keep the skin healthy is to eat a well balanced diet, exercise regularly, and sleep 6-8hrs a day preferably at night. Avoid chemicals on your face unless needed. If all else fails go see a doctor preferably a dermatologist. Don’t just believe influencers even if they are doctors. You need to be physically examined/seen in order to receive your personalized treatment.

@@BobbyZimmerman-op5gl I agree. Ofc you should take care of your body and health. But I was talking about the skin care. It just seemed a bit to much to me. To be healthy is good, but when your appearance becomes an obsession it's unhealthy. I mean no offence, I just thought it might be worth thinking about if appearance takes up a lot of your time and focus. And sometimes I express myself a bit to harsh. So I apologize if anyone got offended. But please remember. The skin will get old no matter what you do, so make sure you don't waste to much time on things you can't control and regret what you did not do. Because time goes by fast, and soon your on your last day and the skin will be the last thing you have on your mind.

I have super clear skin. My steps are: 1- warm up face with relatively hot water 2- baby oil and salt scrub. 3- green kitchen scrubby exfoliation 4- rinse hot working to cold. 5- air dry for 20 minutes 6- moisturize with fresh aloe Vera and a speck of baby oil. FYI: I don't wear makeup. I don't put my hands on my face. My hair is not in my face. I change my pillow casing weekly. My dog does not lick my face. I sweat easily.

While all that is decent advice, understand a lot of people have different skin due to a multitude of reasons. Clear skin is usually a gift from good genetics/environment. Acne runs heavy in my family and I have PCOS. We all got bad acne, but I got the least bad version. One by one doctors recommended us hormone therapys and luckily my skin is all but cleared up now. But my cousins aren't. They hate it when I give them advice on clearing up their skin.
@kellydavis6316

@@Dascia2 I didn't always have clear skin. I had acne when I was in late junior high and in high school some. I also have PCOS Amongst other female hormone dysfunctions. I wore makeup in junior high and high school just like my older sisters because I was trying to cover up what I considered to be unattractive. I have 3 sisters which are much older than me and they all had a acne and they all wore makeup and used different acne drugs all the time. One summer I finally decided no more. I stopped using acne products I stopped using soap and I stopped using makeup. It took 6-8 weeks for my skin to get clear. After that I wore no make up. When you do not have makeup on and you are at school you can wash your face as often as you wash your hands. So my face stayed super clean pretty much a 100% of the time. So 47 years later I still have had no more acne. My one sister who is more than 10 years older than me still has acne and she wears make up about 18 hours every day. Things that make you go hmmmm?

I did some basic research on this, I am not a medical student nor a medical professional. The information I have obtained came from simple internet searches and made sure the information came from qualified licensed medical professionals including dermatologists. The UNIFIED CONSENSUS is that you CAN NOT shrink your pores, you CAN make your skin healthier and more resistant to pore "clogging" (not a word they used, I am using it as a basic descriptor) but the size of the pore will remain the same. Seems to me that the medical professionals including board certified dermatologists agree that pore size does not shrink with any kind of treatment. Also to the people that say they "cut their pores" using sterilized razorblades to "close them up", your body NEEDS pores to be open and clear to function properly, so what you are doing is a very dangerous mutilation practice that is going to NEGATIVELY affect your health. You don't need to be a doctor to understand that, its pretty basic knowledge.

Esthetician here. Pores are connected to glands. Sweat pores are tiny and invisible. The more visible and issue prone pore actually feeds a hair follicle. So when a follicle is producing more oil it is being held open by its contents and will appear larger. Reducing/regulating oil production will make them lie flatter and appear smaller. This is why people with drier skin often appear "poreless". The follicle is shaped like a tube or cone going from smallet deep in the skin to wider on the surface. Exfoliation can remove some layers and also reveal the smaller part. Pores and follicles don't actively constrict like a blood vessel or muscular orifice though. Stay hydrated, exfoliate gently, and use your SPF folks! It's the basis of any good skincare.

Like the first commentator said, retinol is a night time treatment and if you're using it you most definitely have to be on top of your sunscreen application and protection. Multiple applications of sunscreen during the day and wear a hat or cap. Tolerance formula percentage varies from skin to skin, maybe you need a lower percentage or at least use a hydrating moisturizer on top of it. You also need to give your skin a break and not use it endlessly. In a year you should have taken at least 2 breaks, at the very least.

See if you can get a doctor to prescribe ivermectin. This sounds a ton like what I went through for two years. I tried multiple over the counter creams from the dermatologist and every special soap and bathing technique and the only thing that would actually help was steroids. Ivermectin was like the 4th cream I tried but wow, my face almost entirely cleared within a week and I haven't really been using it at all lately but the symptoms haven't came back in two months so far. I didn't get a specific diagnosis but I have a lot of auto immune issues and I'm on immune suppressant drugs so I think I had an overgrowth of bacteria or natural parasites that can cause symptoms very similar to what we both have dealt with and is what ivermectin treats as far as I'm aware. Good luck!

the only thing different from person to person is that there sebaceous filaments can oxidize causing them to appear brown/ darkish so a lot of people confuse them with blackheads. there are some ingredients you can use to minimize the oxidation but you can’t get rid of them

Sebaceous filaments don't oxidize. Sebum does. These are whiteheads, not sebaceous filaments. You can see a demarcation line where the keratin plug ends and the built-up sebum begins.

The provider is removing keratin clogging the hair follicles, not sebaceous filaments. Whiteheads (closed comedones) are often mistaken for sebaceous filaments but they are not the same thing. Sebaceous filaments normally do not protrude from the skin and are an important part of all sebaceous glands. If I had to guess, this looks like an individual being treated for something like Keratosis Pilaris or follicular hyperkeratosis. Granted, I am not a dermatologist- just a med student who also has issues with Keratosis Pilaris.

Rubbing alcohol works wonders and is far cheaper. When I was a teen my great aunt saved my face. I had a true pizza face. Even my neck had pimples. She told me to first pop my pimples, then wipe my face with Rubbing alcohol, then wash it with Ivory soap, then rub with a Aloe Vera. It worked wonders on my skin. Within 2 weeks 90% of my pimples were gone and within a couple months they were all gone.

That’s so damaging to the skin barrier. Men have thicker skin, so I’m not shocked but rubbing alcohol only dries out the skin, and you had pimples which is different. At least witch hazel is tamer & the actual plant helps with acne. I’m glad it all worked for you though.
@DimaRakesah
@DimaRakesah Ай бұрын
If rubbing alcohol is working that means you likely have bacteria or fungus as the root cause. That's why the alcohol works. Unfortunately it's very damaging to the skin, and even if it's fine now this likely won't be your best option long term. Try something like hypochlorous acid. It helps manage bacteria and encourages healing without being drying and damaging the skin barrier. Contrary to popular belief drying the skin out doesn't "cure" acne even if it seems like it's working initially. The skin needs hydration to function and be strong. Drying it out will weaken your skin and potentially make it more susceptible to infections, irritation and other issues that can make acne worse.
