As long as they are released when you catch them. Never keep wild birds as pets though. Tame birds are different considering they cannot live on their own, but wild birds should never be kept. Glad to see they freed them 👍

In the U.S these house sparrows are invasive so it would be illegal to release them

You can keep them as pets it kinda weird but they will tame down 99% of birds kept as pets are all wild their not domestic animals but birds are really smart so they know who to trust

Thank you, because we got a real bird problem in our backyard, my mom refuses to take down the bird feeder so this trap will be in my backyard. And there's gonna be multiple traps

These look like North American sparrows. I see the video creators did release the birds (thankfully!), but for anyone watching this: please keep in mind it's illegal to keep, injure, or kill any native birds in North America. The only birds that are NOT protected here are the non-native invasive species: House Sparrows (which are not in the video) and Starlings.

Cool trick. Used to do this as kids, but my dad built us a wire mesh top/lid for the box so we could view the birds inside before releasing them.

Once i had a trap set up but for some reason i had to jump the sparrow after a rain, i got one out of two for a few seconds but somehow it managed to escape from my hands. Not even my neighbours believed i catched one. . I was like 12 or something.. 😂

I tried this when I was 9 back in the early 90's but it never worked for me. This would be pretty useful if you were poor and needed food.

This would be great if you could do it with the invasive house sparrows and starlings (in North America - and humanely euthanize them). Keep in mind that wild animals like that last bird may look calm but they are actually stressed. It doesn’t look bad but it can lead to illness or death later.

Man these sparrows taste amazing! If you kill/euthanize them you might as well eat them. The bones are so brittle that you can grill it and eat the whole thing as is(minus the feathers and intestines). 2-3 birds are not enough though. My uncle used to oven roast like 20 of them and then dip them in a tahini based sauce. OH MY GOD it's the best game food ever. If only people knew they would hunt sparrows instead of deer and elk
