Unfortunately those mediums from brush&Pencil are not available in my country. I wish to know what they are made off. I assume that white powder is simply a pigment of some kind, but what's the base of the liquid? Knowing that, I could maybe find some equivalent?
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt 3 жыл бұрын
You can usually buy them from places like Jacksons Art (they are UK based but they ship worldwide - that's where I get mine from and I'm in Australia!) The sprays that Brush and Pencil make may be unavailable due to shipping restrictions on aerosols but those two products should be able to be sent anywhere 😊 Unfortunately, there is no other alternative to these products either. They are the first of their kind which is why they are so popular!

Kirsty would you recommend using the brush and paint white product for highlights on pastel pencil drawings? Thanks☺
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt 4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend it because those products are designed for coloured pencil, and because it's a liquid, I'm not sure how it would react on top of pastel, and also whether it will be archival over time! I do have a video that might be helpful if you are trying to add white highlights on top of pastels though kzfaq.info/get/bejne/obxoqJRq2LTZhXk.html

Thank you for sharing...I heard you can use nail polish remover have you ever tried it?But I don't remember if the person on a KZfaq used Acetone or non Acetone....
@KirstyRebeccaFineArt

You're welcome 😊 I wouldn't recommend using anything that wasn't made for art Although baby oil, hand sanitiser, acetone, vaseline, hairspray etc might work for certain techniques... they weren't created for that purpose which means you may come across archival issues in the long run such as yellowing, discolouring, fading, chipping, flaking etc If you're not worried about your artwork lasting a long time, then you can go ahead and try using nail polish remover 😊 I use odourless solvent to blend my coloured pencil but most solvents that oil painters use will be fine - i.e odourless solvent, odourless mineral spirits, Mona Lisa paint thinner, Gamsol, Zest It! Hope that helps! 😊

Great video. I can access to touch up because live in Argentina and the shipping is not possible. I have the powder only. Do you know if I can use it with another liquid medium to paint highlights?

I actually do! I have a DSLR camera but it doesn't film for long periods of time and my tripod won't film top down My phone can film in 4k so that's super high quality anyway! But I do use a professional microphone, which is more important in my opinion 😊

I think you forgot one that works well too. Adding a base layer with alcohol markers/markers. The fluid or alcohol gets soaked up by the paper very well and leaves no marks then draw/color on top of that with ur pencils. Unless this is not “archival”, but last time I checked art can be very subjective even in its process, techniques and mastery of skills. Whatever u can do to get the job done. Now how long it lasts is up to u to figure out or master ur technique. So what u meant it’s not archival just because it’s not written down or because the piece won’t last long? Can’t take everyone’s word for stuff even if it’s written down u just gotta get out there and try it great video I did enjoy it🤷🏻‍♂️😊🙏🏼💙

Yes that would work too 😊 When I mention archival or lightfast, I'm talking about using supplies that will guarantee your artwork to last many years (there are proven standards that companies use to test the lightfastness of supplies such as the ASTM or Bluwool scales) Personally, I sell my work so I want my work to last as long as possible which is why I choose archival and lightfast materials/supplies If you don't mind your work fading/cracking/chipping/yellowing/becoming damaged over a long period of time, (for example, illustrators who convert their work into digital mediums, or artists who are not planning on selling their work) then you don't have to worry about that and you're welcome to use whatever supplies you like 😊
