Exploring the main square, old town, and the vasa museum with my favorite person and my best friend. The best time in Stockholm despite the cold. We were blown away by how underrated this city is by Americans and I’m already scheming to plan another trip during the summer. I love you, Stockholm!
Next week is Vienna- subscribe so you don’t miss it!

Summertime really transforms Stockholm. Suddenly, people on the street look more attractive than from a few weeks ago, and you feel more attractive yourself? The setting is the same, but the vibe is suddenly like a flower opening for you to enjoy the nectar of! Pretentious? Mnyeaah, maybe.

I think this is often the case in countries with colder climates and/or less sun. It's the same in the UK for sure.

As a native Stockholm, you should absolutely make the effort to go there for maybe like a week in the summer and take the boats out in the archipelago. Been living here my whole life but still is breathtaking to go out there on a sunny summer day. 🙂 There are tons of islands that the boats dock at so just take your pick. The more popular one is Grinda because it is close to from central Stockholm and it is fairly large. My personal favorite is Finnhamn. Takes a good while to get to but man it is a beautiful island.

@@asraralam2317 Not really close, but are you attending KTH for studies? Apartments for longer stays are in general a bit tricky in Stockholm as there is quite a shortage of apartments. But if you are there for a shorter stay there should be plenty of hotels around depending on your budget. There is hotels around a park called Humlegården which is roughly 15 minutes walk to KTH from. So depends on what you are looking for. 🙂 Hope it helps.

@grim8050
@grim8050 Жыл бұрын
@@asraralam2317 Well, if you have to wait until December, I would probably look into the more suburban areas of Stockholm in particular north of Stockholm as it most likely will make your traveling to KTH easier. Hard to say prices but your best bet is probably finding a subcontract apartment. It will cost a fair bit but it will be cheaper most likely in suburban areas compared to the more central parts. But if money is not really an issue then you can probably find a subcontract apartment more centrally located.

A really nice weekend-winter-guide to Stockholm! Fun historic trivia: Where the big building (Nationalmuseum) is located next to bridge over to Skeppsholmen island is roughly where the infamous ship Vasa was built. Before becoming a peninsula, it was actually an island as well, with ship building yards on it, like on Skeppsholmen. It's still called Blasieholmen. ('holmen' is "the small island" in Swedish)

Not sure how much reindeer you'll actually find in Stockholm restaurants. I'm sure there are restaurants that serve it, but if I wanted to eat reindeer I'd go further north. When I made a stop in Jokkmokk, just north of the Arctic circle, a few years ago, the local pizzeria had reindeer pizza on the menu!

Hello, how are you? I am going to visit southern Sweden near Denmark or maybe Stockholm on February 8th ( do you recommend south of Sweden or near Stockholm and why?). I want to see the beauty of winter and the SNOW, I especially chose the beginning of February because I heard that it's the month with the most snowfall. Is this true? I want to see Sweden completely white, covered in deep snow. Will I find it on February 8th or will the snow have melted? And if you recommend a specific rural area in southern Sweden or near Stockholm , near the nature that is covered in snow and beautiful for a holiday among the snow, could you mention its name because I haven't booked accommodation yet. Thanks ! Waiting for your reply 😄.

Did you hear about the Stockholm bood bath? It wasbin Stortorget in gamla stan in 1520. It sparked the war of liberation from the Danes. The main battle waas in Västerås (my home town) in 1521. Declaration of independance was in June 6, 1523. June 6 is our national day. Great that you visited the Vasa museum. I think that it should be illegal to visit Stockholm for the first time and not visit the Vasa museum. Another great little museum to visit is the Medeival Museum. It is just across the steet from the house of parlament.

And on top of it, I found the Swedes to be some of the nicest people I ever met. They don’t give you an attitude if you don’t know Swedish (or any other Germanic Scandinavian language). You may visit other countries that have more aesthetically pleasing natural landscapes or architecture, but you will never meet much nicer people.

If you go during the summer months, aim for Midsommar (Summer Solstice). My friend who speaks Swedish and did a semester abroad there says that it’s a big deal in Sweden. Do the Archepelago boat tour (it’s a 3-hour tour 😂) and stop at Vaxholm. Visit Drottningholm palace. Also, you should visit the Skansen open air museum. (Interestingly enough, every Scandinavian capital has one such open air museum, according to Rick Steves.) Also, did you and your friend do “fika”?

It's not accurate to generalize that all Swedish people think they are better than others. However, some Swedish people might feel a sense of pride in their country's achievements in areas like social welfare, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. This pride doesn't necessarily mean they think they are inherently better than people from other countries, but rather that they are proud of their nation's accomplishments and values. Remember, cultural differences and pride don't always equate to superiority. #RespectDiversity

@@abinashmishra329 If that were actual lingonberries they’re the only one. Never seen that my 5 decades here. It sounds kind of ridiculous, unnecessary and expensive. Yes some actual fish dishes are served with them but usually raw stirred with sugar. Like fried herring. There are tons of reasons, practical, seasonal, very limited availability and cultural reasons. Traditional Swedish cuisine is quite specific about its flavours and ingredients. lingonberries are traditional and would not be wasted as decoration. Lingonberries are in only season August - September. The rest of the year they are served in various processed ways usually mixed with sugar or thawed. There’s some great sushi places in the city indeed but berries are not a sushi thing.
