I just commented something along the same. I think his only fault was his presentation. He should have gotten together a little orchestra to play all the instruments, and played a serious piece of classical music..... THAT would have shown the true creativity and beauty of his work.

I mean its fairly easy to do. People make 'folk saxophones' out of oil cans and surgical tubing where im from. There are instructions online that will yield a much better tone and intonation than this one.

9:17 that instrument is called a theremin, this was not a good representation of what you can do with them. The theremin was used to make "spooky" music for old movies and radio shows. Check out Rob Scallon to get a better understanding of what it was used for.

Okay, first of all 6:00 did not deserve all those buzzes. It’s cool how he builds his own instruments. And they sound LEGIT. I know there’s a whole town where kids are so dedicated to music despite being in low-income families, they build their instruments out of things they find in the dumps. I’ve never built an instrument, but it seems pretty difficult. They even have a whole youth orchestra of children using home-made instruments. Classical instruments too, like a viola or cello. Those judges really missed out on a cool opportunity to show off some real talent. He even brought in a bunch of different ones. Think of what he could have brought in for future shows: he could have brought a whole orchestra!! I’m honestly very disappointed.

When I tried out for Idol I discovered you go through multiple judges and rounds. So sometimes the bad people on TV were put through purposely for entertainment value. I didn't even bother going through anymore rounds after I found that out.

The biggest drawback to the Earth-Harp that I can see is how difficult it probably is to properly tune it. Especially if you have to essentially rebuild it every time you need to play it. I applaud the guy teaching such creativity in schools. Trying to force out originality and excessive punishments for the wrong students is why I think schools are failing.

My guess is for attention, and, when they think it's not too obvious and before the contestant has a chance to prove him/herself, they (talentless bimbos that they are) do it out of nastiness and, in some cases, jealousy.
