24mm GM is glued to my Sony A7R3 body for a few months now :D cannot go wrong with that! One of the best photography purchases for myself.

That 1.4 is a beast! Very helpful in those night shoots and has one of the smoothest bokeh I’ve seen 😍

@@VictorLafortezalove the content! Also how do you get the aspect ratio you have with the black bars so it fills the full iPhone screen in landscape mode? When I try to do 16:9 it stops about an inch from the edge from both sides..

It goes all the way to the edges of my phone screen when most videos end about a cm from each side when in landscape mode. I would love to get the aspect ratio you have on this video!

Victor, if I already have the 24-70mm 2.8 GM and 16-35mm 2.8 GM, would you sell one of the zooms to replace with the 24mm?

Yes agreed with the other comment, keep what you have as you already have what you need :). 1.4 vs 2.8 is a matter of preference!

Hey, I am really confused between Sigma 16mm and 30mm for my Sony APSC. I m not buying Kit lens and directly buying Sigmas. Thats why I want something versatile and from which I can learn a lot as I m a beginner !! Which one do you recommend according to your experience ?? Like which focal length you would recommend 24 or 45 (FE equivalent)?

I LOVED the sigma 16mm. I used to rock it 90% of the time before I had gone full frame which is why I went with the 24mm. Its a good all around lens for video. I did vlogs/paid gigs/commercials/social media content and it fit perfectly to my needs. I would suggest the 30mm if you're into photography though!

@@VictorLaforteza No I am into videography mainly. I want to make Travel and Cinematic videos. I am confused between the two because with 30mm, we can get that creamy bokeh and we can do portraits. And with 16mm we can take diferent type of insane shots wih the help of composition and can achieve bokeh by going very close to the subject. It is also good for Product B rolls. Actualy man big film makers use wide angle mostly like Matt Komo, Rory Kramer, etc. I also think I should chose 16mm but I will lack that creamy bokeh, close ups and portrait thing. I am going with the 16 as I think I will learn more with this lens and I think lens is a very small thing. In making a good travel video, we have to be good at editing, colour grading , sound design, etc. Later after saving up money I can buy those Zooms and Portrait lenses. I am a student though I don't earn currently but I will try to do so along with learning this beautiful art of Film Making. I really liked your channel and Subscribed👍

Hey bro, were all these shots in 24fps? Because whenever I use this lens to shoot 50 fps is so noisy even when iso is at minimum 😅

Hey man! This is an old video and if I remember correctly, this was all shot in 24fps and I shoot about 800-3200 iso HLG3 on the a7iii for this video :) I made a video on how to shoot sony in low light! That might help you out!

its been awesome! not the widest frame but it works for what we do. I'd suggest getting the 20mm 1.8 if vlogging is more of your thing! was using a joby gorillapod :)

Great cinematography. This is the next lens I'm going to get. I'm curious as to how you achieved the cinemascope aspect ratio. Did you crop the original image or was some kind of anamorphic element used to stretch the image?

@@VictorLaforteza, cool. I wish someone would make a reasonably priced anamorphic element to mount in front of the lens so you could use all of the resolution on the sensor. I would use it for stills all the time.

Good call. One word of caution that many don't tell you - on a crop body like a6600, it will behave like a 35mm f2.0 lens and not a f1.4 (just something to be aware of)

Great footage! Have you tried the 20mm G? Would be awesome to see what you can achieve with that lens. Have you considered it and do you think it would be a good alternative to the 24mm GM or would you rather just stick with the 24mm?

I think since its such a minimal difference I would stick with the 24mm but if I didnt have the 24mm I would definitely go for 20 rather than the 24! 1.4 is overkill if youre not doing a lot of lowlight :)

@@sukhmeetchhabra9218 it’s definitely wide enough for 1-2 faces in the frame with decent amount of headroom. I showed it in the video. If you want a wider view, I’d go with 16mm

I'm kinda struggling here.....what should I go for? this one here sony GM 24mm f/1.4 or Sony GM 24-70? In terms of videography

Do you prefer primes? Do you need the 1.4 aperture? Do you want more sharpness? If yes, go with the 24 1.4. 24-70 is very convenient and I only use 1.4 on very specific uses. I usually go f4 on my production. I usually rent out the 24-70 for run and gun situations. That being said, I still prefer the 24mm prime since i really like it’s image quality.

love the colour of this! I have the a7iii but have noise issue in a variety of profiles, especially in the shadows/blacks, any tips? I believe i have all the standard stuff like low iso, properly exposed etc... love the shadows/dark in this video, any suggesitons or tips? It's gotten to a point I'm think it could be the camera? Not sure, but very frustrating as you can imagine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks! I use pp10 and changed it to HLG3 and nothing else. Overexpose by +1 and then in post just edit down the shadows or blacks until the histogram shows it just before 0 value! Hope that helps!

Victor, I think you have done a fantastic job showcasing the low light capabilities of the new Sony 24mm F.14 GM. I liked the video and subscribed to your channel. Do you think the low light capabilities of the 24mm F.14 GM outweigh the 16-35mm F2.8 GM for outdoor low light video conditions drastically? I do a lot of low light virtual walk tours with the 16-35mm F2.8 GM right now (Using A7iii body + Zhiyun Crane 2 Stabilizer). I usually set the focal length to around 17mm or 18mm to compensate for the Sony 4K video crop and Adobe Premiere software stabilization crop while still providing a true virtual wide angle experience. Despite being absolutely blown away by the 24mm F1.4, I am concerned it is simply not wide enough for my style of videos. I definitely welcome your opinion if you know any better alternative. Anyway I would greatly appreciate if you could check out my recent videos and provide HONEST feedback. Subscribe if you enjoy :)

I think you should stick with the 16-35mm! 2.8 is good enough for low light. I think it's only about 1 stop of brightness with the 1.4 compared to the 2.8. Especially with the types of videos you have (which is awesome btw!) I was considering the same lens but having to try it for a day or two, I simply prefer the 24mm. There were a few times that I wish I had a wider lens for some shots in the past!

Victor Gabriel hey I actually ended up getting the 20mm f1.8 by Sony. I agree 24mm is not wide enough - especially when the 4K crop is into effect.

@@VeeTravels 20mm1.8 is a great lens. For my needs I think it is just a tad too wide. Mainly want hip/chest and up shots + full body shots, and I feel 20mm will introduce too much perspective distortion at that distance. Much better for landscape/architectuer photography though and vlogging if you're into that. 2.8 vs 1.4 means 4 times more light passthrough for the 1.4. 1.8 vs 1.4 is 2/3 stop difference. Can';t go wrong with 1.8 or the 1.4 in my opinion after watching and reading a shitton of reviews. (for anyone interested).

@@virityrealtual3831 Yeah if cropping to stabilize video was not required, I think 24mm is the optimal focal length for stills and video -- probably 95% of all situations. I think you will enjoy the 24mm 1.4 a lot!

@@VeeTravels i just ordered my 1.4 24mm. Using an a7siii. So unless im using 120fps (1.1× crop whoch makes it a 26mm focal range which also seems perfect), i get the full 24mm. Cant wait to receive it!

PP10 changed it to HLG3 :) lowered the blacks on the curves in post. That’s it!

Amazing. It’s my go to lens. I use this about 90% of my production and travel vlogs. 10% is split between Macro and close up shots.

Depends on what you want for your setup and your preference. I thought about buying a 24-70 GM so I rented it. The focal range is amazing but it’s so large and heavy that I hated shooting with it. Even with the sigma version. I like the form factor of prime lenses and their very sharp and has little to no lens distortion. If you don’t shoot weddings or events, I’d get sell the 24-70
