Answering the title: Not really, rtx mod has a significant performance hit and can make the game look worse or cartoonish but will always change in the future

Well, my big problems with rAyTRaCinG 1) Huge, HUGE performance hit. 2) Does anyone know the speed of light? Yeah, thought so. It is especially very well seen when you move camera fast enough (or in case of MW use back camera to look behind yo car) to see shadows just pop in the picture, first grainy, then more full. Idk how to describe it fully, england is not my native language anyway. While non-rt shadows are there, rt shadows have to render in after the rest of picture was rendered.

Culling is working through ASS. Objects off player camera disappear - as result their shadows also disappear. That's old nfsmw engine optimizations, it will be fixed don't worry.

Tried the UG2 RTX mod the other day finally, didn't really see the "matte" cars that you spoke of and saw in your original video on it. Out of all the RTX demos out so far it seems the most organized and advanced, but this also looks super promising! Honestly though if any game needs an RTX mod its undercover lmao.

That sunflare at the ground I think how to fix it is to delete the sunflare texture. The location is inagamea.bun if I am not wrong or another inagame files. I was forgot where the exact location, but the .dds texture is named SUNMAJORAYS. You need to replace the sunflare texture with blank .png that converted to .dds. But the downside is the sunflare at the sky will be gone. Because somehow sky texture in this game is mirrored at the ground below the asphalt, so yeah.

Jokes a side - if you open rtx remix menu (Alt+X), you will apply piss filter in less than a minute. You also can change time of day (yes you also can do night), weather etc.

He’s so right about that unreal engine brightness. State of decay 2 for example is so goddamned bright it’s not even funny. Night time you can literally see everything and the moon is like some spotlight in the sky shining absolutely everything. And I have a TN panel which makes everything dark as all hell but sod 2 I have to turn brightness down on. I hope future game engines can get lights right for once dynamic resolution is always so goddamn dark but I think that’s from my screen but they also always emphasize lens flare for no goddamn reason 😂 just BRIGHT all in your face

Only game I play with RTX ON is Metro Exodus. In other games like Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk I always feel that some areas are way too bright or way too dark. Normal refelctions and lighting are fine by me but I want see what iam playing with. Also RTX halfes my framerate and I cant stand that at all... If all you want are some improved refelctions and lighting there are much less power hungry alternatives ( improved shaders, textures, Reashade/ filters) that look good. But regardless the game has to support it, for example cars in MW dont have working headlights, lightsources and shaders for different surfaces and shadows work different than Raytracing " needs it".

I understand that making a mod like this likely takes hours and hours of hard work, but it feels a bit wasted when the game's original aesthetic wasn't designed to work with raytracing. It basically just makes the car models shinier, everything else looks like a straight downgrade.

I like the original look of the game so much better tbh. I don’t know why but the car models in all of these NFS RTX mods, the RTX look worse than the original game. This one in particular has a good looking environment but the cars, once again look like garbage imo. I know that it’s a work in progress but it the cars just look a lot faker than they do without the RTX mod and I can’t put my finger on it as to why that seems to be the case. Maybe it’s because they no longer fit the art style of the game?

Not hating on the people who made this, but I don't like it. I feel like this is how a remastered version of most wanted if EA decided to make one. The world texture is the same old one, but got more lightning. Same goes for the cars. I always like it when people wan't to mod this game. But in my opinion i would use the same texture from nfs World and add more to it if possible but might not be possible because both games are different.

It's a bit 'dumb' way to set it up to make headlights emit light from headlights when its daytime, this light would be so overwhelmed that you never see it cast light on anything, as even shadows are brighter than it. At best it could mildly brighten the deeper shadows and it should BE YELLOW, all cars in this game have halogen headlights, not damn LED or Xenon white/blue lights

I don't like these raytracing mods. They really mess with the colors and lighting of the original games which were mostly pre-baked. The games weren't graphically done with real time lighting in mind.

That's the problem with RTX mods of these games, they fix nothing about the game itself and only made it run worse with the ugly visual "upgrades" That I refuse to call it an update at all Doesn't look good, doesn't make the game look any better, doesn't make anything better, completely useless mod that's only for rich people with their ultra spec gaming PC to play with

Problem or not seems more like an experimental test to me. Don't know how much they really can make things look better or push it if the games weren't made for those types of lighting simulations. I am open that it could look alright with updates but I don't know what the limits are. For now other ''enhancement mods'' looks better
