Chick finally freed itself, no? These birds act on instinct, so both were flummoxed for a bit. Feeding mistakes are common. Actual thinking is being a bit charitable.

Both parents are at the nest and they are identical, there is no way to identify mum from dad, so please refrain from crediting mum with everything that happens. Both parents feed and share responsibility in maintaining the nest.

Most parent birds pick and prep the food into the baby’s mouths…. I know because parents have natural survival instincts to eat, and in turn are smart enough to know what to feed their young. This just isn’t right💔

parents bird dont go to school parenting 101 , parents simply feed their offspring , as maternal instinct , sometimes they know and see them that the food is to big for them and remove it. that's it
