A 24-year-old football coach has been sentenced to 25 years in prison in Dubai after police discovered 4 small bottles of CBD oil, which he claimed were left in his car by a fellow Londoner he'd driven to the airport two weeks earlier.
Despite being able to prove they weren't his, Billy Hood was forced to sign a confession written in Arabic and convicted of trafficking, selling and possessing CBD. Billy's mother, uncle and friend joins Ben and Susanna as well as the founder of Detained in Dubai, Radha Stirling.

Biggest tip in foreign countries with severe drug laws like Dubai - be careful on whom you hang out with, especially close friends. Trust nobody unless you are absolutely sure they will not place or plant contraband at the wrong places in Dubai!

When traveling to foreign counties understand that some countries have *very strict* drug laws, what may be legal in the West may be illegal in other countries and it’s your responsibility to figure that out. When in Rome, do as the Roman’s do and respect their laws and culture.

👨‍⚖️ ~ The same laws exist in the United States, and they existed in almost every state even 10 years ago. The difference between the United States and Dubai is we are a civilized country they do not punish people for 25 years for something so small and insignificant. And that’s especially true if you can prove that you didn’t even know it was in your car at all.

If a cop really wants to put you in jail they can do so, but you’ll be out within a couple of hours in almost every place. Plus we treat men and women the same according to the law, more or less.

There is literally no excuse for this man's behavior. He knew full well what was in his luggage and the potential ramifications if he was caught with CBD oil, yet he knowingly brought them into the country.
