I was in a stagnant place in my life for a while after graduating from college. I was without a job, my relationship was failing, and I had very few friends. When the first day the Winter 2018 season started and I watched episode 1 of A Place Further than the Universe, I related tremendously to the desire to do something more with my life. The next week, watching the fantastic chase sequence, it triggered something in me that pushed my youth into motion. I started to become more open with people, making new friends while traveling around to events and places I have never been to. I started to become more successful in my job search, proven by how I now have a confirmed start date as a Mechanical Engineer in a few weeks at one of the largest machine tool manufacturing companies in the United States. There is no other piece of media that has helped stir my life in such an impactful manner. A Place Further than the Universe is really something special, and to me it is my favorite anime of all-time. I'm really excited for my own adventures to come. Thanks Geoff for making this video so I can further revel in its glory, and I really liked the timing of Haru ka Tooku with your end card ;)

I have been watching anime since 1976, and this anime has already made my top 10 of all time. It is THAT good. Storytelling, character designs, quality animation throughout, character development, great intro, it is all there. Makes you laugh out loud, makes you cry, makes you mad... this is truly a masterpiece. I would go as far as to say if you introduce friends to anime through this show, they will get hooked, but cursed with continuous disappointment as well as very few shows will measure to the level of artistry this show achieved.

one of the things i love about this series, is that its a MODERN 21st century adventure thats grounded that is relatable and achievable within the target audience especially considering young teens to young adults in there twenties are trying to find themselves and make something out of their life by traveling/exploring the world meeting new people and gaining new experiences. I hope anime do more modern adventures that can replace our escapism fantasies of isekai. Forget game based world already theres plenty of adventures to be had in our own world.

@JonnyJ TRP, Saying it's "Good" is underrating this masterpiece. I had doubt about it too, but all you need to do is watch the first episode, take the first step, then you will realize that you have reach the last episode and wanted more. There is no show that has made me shed my man tear every single episode. There are tears of joy (mostly caused by Kimari's stupid but kawaii actions), tears of touching, tears of inspiration and tears of sadness. You won't realize that you will shed tears for the most mundane stuff like.... (a little spoiler alert) . . . . . .unread emails.

I watched this show because I wanted some light-hearted entertainment from cute girls doing cute things. NOONE prepared me for the heart-wrenching ending. I was sobbing like a little baby. The writing in this show is unparalleld in my opinion. 8:34 I may not be the only one who noticed but dang the metaphor in this shot. Megumi's shown as if she was in a cage trapped and isolated while Kimari finally breaks away from it. This scene really embodies what Megumi didn't know that she feels.

I've watched a lot of painful anime in my time (Anohana, Made in Abyss, Your Lie in April, Monogatari (you know which arc), and more) but A Place Further than the Universe is the first anime to outright make me bawl. A no warning gut punch that crushed my heart. And I love this show so very much for it. A Place Further than the Universe is the best of the season, and an easy contender for of the year. Better even than Devilman. Yes. Better than Devilman. Fight me.

This show is so good! SO GOOD! One reason I watch anime is to find the best of the best in hours of mediocre and forgettable garbage, and after laughing and crying through so many episodes, I knew that I had found an unforgettable gem. THIS is a truly amazing anime that does everything right! It deserves legendary status and is as good as FMA, Cowboy Bebop or any other anime that gets listed as a 'must watch'. I LOVE this anime!

Whenever I tell people who haven't watched a place further than the universe that it's my favourite anime, they normally just look at the description and laugh. But what they don't know is how special it is to me. I will always remain my favourite anime becuase sometimes, anime doesn't need unrealistic magical elements to make it magical. I've always in my life had this urge to just..... Do something. Everyday is like the other, I don't want it anymore. Someday I just want to, whitout a plan, go somewhere with someone and experience something I will never forget. And once I watched a place further than universe, honestly I wasn't expecting much but it really made me realise all the little things that I always forget and I really related to the main character. It made my urge to do something extra ordinary even higher. Even though I live in Japan, my family has never been able to go somewhere special, we don't live in a very big city either. I've always wanted to see fuji San someday and camp with my friends. My goal right now is to complete my studies so that I can complete my only wish in life. To do something that I'll remember for the rest of my life.

It took me a year. One whole year to start this anime. Honestly, I was scared. I knew that is was going to be one of my favorite anime of all time, I knew it was going to hit right in my heart and punch it like a boxing bag. I knew that if I watched it, I was going to feel forced to move, to break the motionless life I've been having for a while and the simple thought of that scared the shit out of me. I attempted to start it a lot of times, and I always chickened out. But I did it. I watched it, from top to bottom. God, it hit me harder than I thought. Not only it made me cry, but it broke me. In a good way. It showed me how truly unhappy I am with my current life and that I can't keep living like that. It made me see that I need to break the ice that I've been stuck in for years. That I have to stop thinking I don't have goals or dreams or things to chase. To stop lying to myself to just sit comfortable and not needing anything new. I just finished the last episode like half an hour ago. I wanna re-do my entire life with this same feeling I have right now. With this new found force that makes me want to achieve what I want, no matter how difficult it may be, or how stupid some people might find it. Its what I want, and I wanna go get it. Since I can't restart my life, I made a promise to myself: I will stop living for the sake of living, and will live to achieve my dreams

Not much I can really add to this. I went into the anime, after I first saw a preview of the opening and thought, "hehe cute. I like the gag where the one girl pretends to eat their friends.. I'll have to check it out." Starting from episode 2, I found myself finishing an episode right when it aired, and already counting down the time until I could continue watching. I can honestly say, no show has moved me in such a constant matter as much as this one has. By episode 12, I was saying to myself.. "Yup.. new favorite anime. But I'm not making it official until the finale". It has now become my favorite anime. I know I'm just some rando commenter, and my opinion does not mean as much as MB or other anime reviewers.. But if you like a show with a strong drive and you're okay with a tear or two...hundred... Watch this show!

This show hit me especially hard. The one thing about shows about tight friendships that develop like this over time tends to make me as a person feel the greatest strains of bittersweet. But this one had the extra fact of being about girls who decide to go on an impulsive trip to a faraway land. In highschool, I decided to join my friends on the grad trip to Ireland that year. So much of the small parts of these episodes spoke to me. The running around and preparing. The working hard and to the last minute (literally just made the deadline for the last payment). The packing and the cheers. The school meetings and parent talks. The running around the airport, the ...just so much. So much of this felt so real to me. IT hit me hard. But...the biggest issue I've had is that I can't discuss this with anyone. I've tried to get folks to try it, but yes, they brush it off as a cute girls doing cute things show without trying it. I can't talk about the parts that made me laugh, the amazing comedic timing, anything. This is the show that truly makes me regret having migrated unknowingly out of the anime community. I thought it was stronger, but everyone else seems to have left is behind. I don't know what to do about it anymore. Sorry, I know this video isn't the place for this, maybe, but this show has affected me in so many ways and this melancholic bitterness is a part of that. It doesn't change my love for this show. I will do what I can to showcase that love as loud as possible; I will buy the dvds. I will buy the nendroids (please good smile gods). I will do what I can. I just wish I had people irl to ...to...love it with me. I want to cosplay this with friends. Sorry, I'll end this late night tirade here. Bleh. Watching MB and Digi's videos are the closest things I get to any sort of real discussion with anime, so...I'm doing what I can.

Boyishdude Actually use VRV, which includes CRs library. Other than dying whenever Dragonball had a hyped show I didn't have a problem with it. VRV didn't have that issue (dying whenever DBS got a hyped episode).

MikuOlliet ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ ¯\(ツ)/¯ then you are just an idiot. I've been using Kissanime on my iPad for several months and I don't need to get it replaced. So you are basically just spouting bullshit. Anybody with braincells knows that you shouldn't be clicking on ads EVER on the internet, so if your PC got viruses that is your own fault. Beyond that there are things like No Coin and Ad Block that you can turn on for whenever you use Kissanime. As for CR, its not worth a purchase. Its site runs like shit every time a season starts, it has third party anime exclusives (which are illegal under US Law), its anti-competitive, it has questionable visual quality, and the subs aren't always good.

I started watching this show when 4 episodes were out and religiously followed the Tuesday releases all the way to the end. Pretty much every episode managed to make me cry like a bitch and yet somehow feel stronger and happier for having seen it. I left the first season feeling a greater appreciation of my friends and like a better friend myself. I cannot recommend this show enough.

I feel old saying this, but I really hope this anime inspires more teenagers and young adults to travel more. I've had the good fortune in my life to have traveled to so many different places in the world. But so many get caught up in school, work, and material stuff that they never work toward traveling. They get caught in a "never enough money, never enough time" cycle and dont get to experience more, especially in Japan. The times I've traveled are some of the best times in my life, and I really hope more young people get to have those same life changing events happen. I hope it inspires people to save up and work hard to go on these kinds of adventures.

It was such a great surprise! When I first learned about this anime I thought it would be just a fun adventure between the four girls, I did not expect so much dept ad such a beautiful execution. This anime is just really REAL and HUMAN. And the way the story is told truly makes you feel part of it. You laught when they laught and you will cry when they cry. like really. I cried like a baby. I know grown up dudes who cried like babies watching this. It's absolutely beautiful.

Within the first couple of episodes I realized it was going to be more than that, and now, at the end, this is easily in my top 15 anime ever, and probably top 10. It really should become a classic if it can keep getting exposure.
