And "Shout At The Devil" STILL KICKS ASS!!!! I could listen to it right now and STILL be amazed by how great this album is!!!! One thing I like about "Shout At The Devil" is that Motley Crue were drunk out of their FUCKING MINDS when they recorded it!!! They were partying their ASSES OFF on that album, which makes it so intense. So this album is worth BLASTING LOUD, and making your ears BLEED!!!

Hmmm, I may have been there that night. I used to frequent LA clubs and take pictures, then solicit my photo services to the bands. Not sure which show of Y&T's it was but my gf and I were there to see Y&T. The lights go out and boom, Vince Neil is on stage with a new band. My gf was a friend of Vince from his Rock Candy days (they played at her house once). We met up with Vince after the show and he tells us about this new band Motley Crue. So we started building up a portfolio of pics of them. Then after a show at the Whisky we met up with them and presented our portfolio. They loved the pics. So much so that it was either Tommy or Nikki that said, "You're hired! You guys are our photographers!" Well small problem. By now they had signed contracts and had no control over their marketing. As the ole saying goes, "Missed it by that much." Still quite an experience. Used to also shoot A La Carte and Naughty Sweeties.

it's absolutely bizarre how, with this video in particular, not even some remotely low-gen version circulates... it's the same heavily generated copy everywhere, with the same glitches in the same spots... the master, or a VERY low-gen copy exists in the hands of the folks at eliteworks, not sure what they're hanging on to it for, but you'd think if they were using it as trade bait for other hoarded shows that eventually SOMEone they traded with would leak it to the masses, or it would end up being sold to a boot label that would release it... i guess it's just a waiting game until such time as that happens...

***** I think so too. He's convinced that The Who wrote this song, etc, that he's going on and on about it. He probably has nothing better to do than make up shit like this, just to get reaction. If The Who really did write this song, it would have been mentioned years ago, long before internet was even thought of.

Mick retired though with the tour already booked. They can't just cancel. It's not like they're replacing him because they want to. They had too to keep going. Based on the circumstances, it's fine and understandable.

You should hear the original self-released version of TFFL on Leathur Records. It’s much better. More raw, with a different mix, different vocal takes, different guitar parts, other parts that got edited out later on, and a whole song that got cut from the Elektra version (Stick To Your Guns). It also has a different track sequence that works better. When they signed to Elektra it was completely remixed and re-sequenced by Roy Thomas Baker, and even a few parts were re-recorded with overdubs added. The Leathur version is the way the band intended it to sound. I had the original vinyl for years until 2003. You can hear it now on the “Music To Crash Your Car To” box set.

@@Brewzerr My friend (Greg) recorded a cassette-copy (of the "Leathür"-vinyl) - for me; and (in high-school) I was the guy to see - if any-one wanted it duplicated. // Literally - no-one had heard it before // I'd xeroxed the 'Elektra'-cover, and it came out black-&-white - like the original (minus the track-listing order). (A big deal - until it was re-issued.)

Makes sense. An unknown band butchering a song that is too far out of their range of talent isn't going to go over very well.

Blind Terry Tucci so you’re saying paperback writer is harder to play than Wild side? Harder than Kickstart my Heart? Harder than even Dr. Feelgood? No. This song was easy to play for them. So NOT out of there skill range. The Beatles made great songs. All of which are pretty easy to play.

It was their 2nd ever gig. People were probably just trying to figure out exactly what the f**k it was they were witnessing. This was 1981. Not too many bands back then had pineapple hair and covered the Beatles.

Allan Coffman would rent good stage equipment for them in the beginning. He thought if they had really nice equipment and looked like an established band it would get them to the big time, which it did.

Nikki has said in an interview that he stole a Gibson les paul from a store in the 70's which he later sold to buy a good bass which i am guessing is that Gibson thunderbird bass.

I’ve read nikki’s book about his life before he became nikki sixx. He actually talked about how he stole A LOT. Almost everything he owned was stolen. He was stealing from work, from cars, from shops. His wife was even shocked when she read about it in his book. She called him a thief haha

I love Motley, but even The Beatles themselves butchered this live. Too hard of a song to pull off without three good singers. Thankfully they picked Helter Skelter to cover instead...
