It was the darkest 2 weeks of motorsports that month in 2011. 1st Dan Wheldon in Las Vegas and then Simo. May them rest in peace.

I was married to the most amazing Thai lady, sadly I lost her to cancer, I still have her 46 'The Doctor' T-shirt in my bedroom window to show the world her strength, just like the greats. We sadly watched this happen live and we were also big fans of SideShow Bob aka Simo 58 and his raw talent, he was a pleasure to watch and to watch him grow through the classes. I remember we cried our eyes out watching his funeral as if it was our own family, my wife and I. Love live Simo 58 and all those amazing folks that bring us such joy and entertainment, will never forget you all... xxx

His immediate family lost their family member which is tragic. I always felt bad for Rossi having dealt a fatal blow to one of his best friends. He must have been devastated even though there was nothing he could have done different.

10 years later and it still feels like it was yesterday. Marco Simoncelli will never be forgotten.
@chamindujanith63372 жыл бұрын
The sad thing is he had a lot of potential. Only 24. And was getting very close to Stoner, Pedrosa, Doviziozo and Lorenzo in every race. In his last finished race he finished just 2 seconds behind Stoner in Philip Island and ahead of Dovi and Pedrosa. RIP Simoncelli 😥😥
@DoubleMonoLR11 ай бұрын
That's not "the sad thing", how much potential he did or didn't have doesn't really matter, he had a full life ahead of him, which would've included a lot more than just racing. These kinds of comments also imply that it would be less sad if a rider has less potential.

@jholmes82 None!! He was always a very erratic rider and caused lots of crashes. Was good but nothing special - never won a motogp race, so let's not get sentimental and say he'd have been a multiple world champion - he wouldn't!! Unfortunately this fate was always likely to be awaiting him

Was on UK time and due to having young infants twins, was awake early, and after a feed got the kids and the wife back to sleep and quietly watched the race.......can remember the smallest details of that early morning. Wasn’t the first loss I’d witnessed as a racing fan being an avid TT fan, but was one of the hardest. A terrible loss. A year after, I moved to Singapore and the Malaysian GP was a short trip I made every year. The love and respect that circuit shows every year for Marco is very special. Godspeed Marco. One of a kind ❤️

as the head of medical in an international racing series, it is normal to talk english
@DgtalBreakz3 жыл бұрын
He handled it pretty well, I believe his position forces him to publicly speak in english quite often, so I dont think it was an issue for him. Obviously, talking about death is no joke, so my point is that I dont believe what was difficult for him was transmiting the message in english, but simply saying it due to the nature of the message itself.

i still remember this day like it was yesterday... i was 10 and i was on track with my brother and father. we do karting so it was a classic sunday training. we were on track when the tragedy occourred. then during a pause we decided to go to the circuit's coffee to get some water and watch some laps of the race on television. we entered and everybody there was looking sad. then i watch the screen and i see the red flag and the commenter's tone of voice was way more serious than i had ever heard. but at the moment i didnt realize what happened, and as a kid i was afraid to ask because i knew it was something serious. on the way back i asked my father and he told me. i remember that i felt more angry than sad but i didn't know why. i just felt that i had to go back on track, for him. i still do karting but i never felt the same when driving again like that day.

Firstly, Edward hit marco's back. The hit turns marco's hands and head lift up. Suddenly, Marco's hand ran over by Rossi's tyre and Marco's head get hit by down body of the bike. The crash turns Rossi's bike had a bump jump and broke Marco's helmet and Hand. It's weird this slow motion video shows everything

AGV or any other racing helmets are for standalone crashes and impacts, not any helmet in the world can resist the force of a bike hitting at 180km/hr.
@muhammadshofwan5309 Жыл бұрын
In modern GP helmet there is a feature of Emergency Quick Release, the function is to (you guess it) to put it off easly, it helps the medical team to make a quick reaction if the rider is unconcious after a crash. In Marco's case, i'm afraid there is something to do with this emergency feature. Marco's head was being hit by Colin Edward while he was in +150kph and unfortunately that impact accidently engage the emergency release of that AGV. I think that's one the reason why the helmet was off from Marco's head

In the medical world we call this a Trauma Code. Code = Cardiac Arrest and Trauma = some type of external force or mechanism causing injury. Survival rates are less than 2% for these patients. Many medical entities have protocols in place to manage these patients with the least evasive processes and then executing orders from physicians to cease all resuscitative efforts. These patients unfortunately just don’t make it. If super sic miraculously survived he himself would have asked why he was allowed to live. He would have had no real chance at life again. R.I.P super sic 🙏
