That was grand. As a life-long Guzzi fan, I would say it has been a very long time [1976~LM1.?] since the company produced anything remotely so attractive, and exciting. One could reasonably say.. Not before time, but still, even at my age I am off to see one soonest. Well done all at Guzzi. WF

I'm 65 years old. I've been buying and riding motorcycles since 1970. You said that you need to be careful deciding to take long trips because of vibration??? Really??? Son, I've ridden BSA Victors, Triumph Bonnevilles, Norton, Ducati singles, and Yamaha XS 650s. You have no friggin' idea about vibration. I rode my XR 650 R dirt bike From Kentucky to Santiago, Chile, South America. 2+ months of riding 10+ hours per day. Every mile, with a sheep skin thrown over the 2X4 sized motocross seat. I own an '09 Stelvio. It vibrates. If you young guys are so soft that you limit your rides on this Guzzi due to vibration, you really need to grow a pair, or take up a different hobby. Jeez, it's embarrassing to hear this crap from young people. You kids are so soft.

I just came back from test riding one. I think that review is very good and very accurate. I tested it in the street mode. It was quite mellow for 850cc machine but very torquey. It felt very light and stable at low speeds but, it was little tall for my 5'10". I think it comes with lower seat option. Being so stable, I almost forgot to put foot down (I can tiptoe on both sides in the same time.) It never felt heavy when leaning and flat-footing on one side. It felt comfy sitting on it. Very natural stance. There was a LOT of vibration in all gears and at all speeds. I rode up to 75mph. In 6th gear at 75 it was running at 4500 rpm. That's very comparable to my Super Tenere 1200 but, that is where S10 starts to stretch legs while I wouldn't push this one passed 100mph. I think where this bike shines is doing lots of dirt riding. It felt really good standing on pegs. Mellow torquey engine and decent suspension would be excellent combo for little more than just dirt road. Probably not for expert adrenaline junkies but for low to mi-level skill level to enjoy different scenery. As for road only, there are many other bikes that are much better fit. Air cooling, easy access to engine heads, should be easy to maintain. Trans fairly smooth but, needs lil getting used to it like on any bike. Maybe too overpriced at around $12k but it is the only bike in this category with the shaft drive. For me personally, the shaft drive may be the most compelling feature.

touching the ground is a beginners folley. you don't need to touch the ground with both feet to ride a god damn motorcycle. what a stupid metric by which to judge a bike. gain confidence. lean the bike over and use one leg... thats proper. could you imagine if they made motocross bikes that you could touch the ground on? good lord...

@@oliverdurgen5953 Spoken like a true moto retard. Unlike dumbasses of your kind, people have real lives and responsibilities other than riding. Lot of info packed into 8:20 duration. More reviews like this please! This seems like a great bike, but I'm not sure I'd want to be on a Guzzi in the middle of AK or Africa or something. I believe the fuel capacity is 21 litres, but if it is 23 litres, then all the better for it. How is the seat height adjustable +/- 10mm? I think the monotone version looks more refined, although Ronald McDonald would prefer the multi-hued example no doubt! Not fussed on the tube type tyres (after years of riding tubeless). Repair of punctures "in the field" won't be as easy or convenient. Thanks for the review.

Interesting, I would like the other way around. The adventure tires on the single colour bike. I took the bike for a test ride at the shop, I think it was nice. But I am 191 cm and thought it was too small for me. But could change the seat to a higher one, 850 mm. But they didn't have that to try. But I think I would buy it, but need to try the higher seat first. It looks really nice, and there's not many bikes I think looks good. And there's no chain, a cardan, love that! But then there are tubes in the tires. Seems can not find the perfect bike :) My other option is the Suzuki vstrom 1000.

All new internals in the v9 block. 80hp from an 850cc air cooled motor is pretty high strung though. I imagine its got a good oil cooler in there somewhere keeping it steady. They probably had to do it to make it compete at that price with bikes with alot more than that still. But at 50 this bike wouldve had alot of underpowered comments and if they put the 1300 in it, it wouldve been way too heavy. Makes good sense.

First model year of a newly designed italian motorcycle. If it didn't have some kinks it would be the first in history. And "vibes at speed" is pretty vague. My bike "vibes at speed" too, its called a motorcycle lol. You wanna talk about vibrations ride any Harley ever. It actually is just a characteristic of the tranverse v-twin just like a single has its certain vibration, and v twins in general actually because they are inherently unbalanced. Certain rpms youll feel it more.

Thanks for an informative review. Like the bike but too expensive by about £2,000.

The dealers are now knocking £1,900 off this model. A bargain, may now buy one.

Doesn't this bike come with crash bars as standard? That traverse twin could be a nightmare if this bike is dropped, since it is meant to be dropped cuz it's an adventure bike, this isn't a sport bike that isn't meant to dropped, advs are meant to be dropped..

I guess you could call the Royal Enfield Himalayan a retro adventure bike, but definitely not a real competitor to this lol.

Maintenance costs and long term reliability, though...😥

David & Elizabeth Moto Guzzi nowadays is far more reliable than years ago, this “new deal” of modern Guzzis is keeping up with the others no problem, it’s not worse than Triumph, for instance. Vibes are normal for a V engine mounted like that. I had the chance to visit the factory in Mandello del Lario (I live nearby) and it’s really quite impressive, a great mix of “state of the art” machinery and expert craftsmanship. ❤️

I’ve got a 40 year old Guzzi and a 1-year old R1200GSA. The Guzzi has never had any mechanical issues, minimal maintenance costs, and to be honest anything that goes wrong I can fix myself because the engineering is so simple. I take my GSA to the dealer and pay whatever it takes 😃 Both brilliant bikes though!

Why would maintenance cost be an issue? Shaft drive, pushrod OHV with cylinders heads easily accessible.
