This is great advice. The other day I saw a video of somebody practicing a Gymkhana drill which I tried to emulate today. Fell down once, oh well, that's what crash bars are for. Then I got a bit more aggressive with the throttle and the brakes. I've only been riding since summer 2020 with long winter brakes in between and I dare say I'm not doing too bad for that. In hindsight though (I've watched all your previous Level 1 videos in the playlist now) I made so many mistakes. Using a lot of clutch all the time, lot of dragging the brakes, counterbalancing instead of leaning into the turn and so many more, and, of course, what you said at 03:28 really hit home, that's exactly what I did today, yeah, and I guess I didn't even fully know what I was doing. Next time I'll break it down, slow it down. Thank you!

Thank you for watching and for your comment. In the drumming world, technique is dissected to a very fine detail. Even down to which muscles are being used in the hands, wrists and forearms. I brought that perspective with me to the motorcycling world and it has paid off big time. It’s all about practicing in a way that will help your muscle memory retain the movements and help them become automatic. Take care!

Deliberate practice is the term in cognitive learning. So true to break it down! Thanks for these vids!! You should do a clinic in the NJ/PA/DE/NYC area! Lots would attend!

I'm actually going to be developing an in person course this year. Still in the planning stages but eventually, I intend on taking the course on the road. I would LOVE to come out to the East Coast to teach it. Hopefully, it will happen sooner than later. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

Honestly, all of the patterns I use I get from Japanese videos. If you’re interested in some advanced routes, there are new routes posted every month at M-Gymkhana.com as part of their World Competition.

Hi, John. Yes, these are things that I picked up from years and years of practicing drums. I started playing when I was 13 and it taught me how to learn and how to practice. When I became a motorcyclist, I just applied the same methods and...it worked! Thanks for watching and for the comment :)

Wow, after watching Kintaro san's videos and practicing I made a huge improvement! A light bulb went off and it started to click! My body position was all screwed up before. Not perfect yet but it's coming together, thanks!

@@LexcoMotoGymkhana i'm currently practicing/studying to pass A1 license exam, what you guys call motogymkhana there, here in europe our standart driving test) I'm having hard time to drive thru 8 correctly (to not touch borders edges). We practicing on static 2nd gear, and i'm afraid to tilt/lean/steer motorcycle with body , cuz i'm afraid that motorcycle might fell on asphalt on low speed like a bycicle during low angle
@LexcoMotoGymkhana

It depends on what you mean by "low speed". If you are traveling below 6mph, then it would be appropriate to counterbalance (lean your upper body to the outside). If you are traveling a little faster, then counterbalancing is not needed as you will have enough physical forces to keep your bike balanced. One of the early videos I made is called "What Moto Gymkhana is NOT". Check out that video because it might help understand the difference between low speed techniques for street and Moto Gymkhana techniques. They are different. Low speed techniques would be closer to what Fast Eddie teaches on the 'Motojitsu' channel or The Motorman from 'Ride Like a Pro'. Lot's of clutch/friction zone, lot's of rear brake, big head turns and lots of balance.
