Rear suspension fix, how to fix rear shock on the Engwe Engine Pro folding e-bike

Nitices the rear shock bareley moved when vinny was jumping on the bike, in this video I show how to fix the rear suspension to make it work properly and not bind up by putting longer bole on hinge point, cleaning paint off and using locktite or RTV on threats of shock and just finger tight, this will solve your rear shock issue. Also put rubber strap to the fender because lower fender bolt was tight where it was supposed to slide.

Thanks, there is another way to get the suspension freed up. I believe I put a link in the description but it's basically just disconnecting the front lower bolt behind a pedals of the fender and leave the other ones connected. It's an easier way to do it

@@MotoCheez I wish I could save photos here I would love to show you Phase 1 of my bike. I have the upgraded model of the Engwe Engine Pro. I don't think the rear fender connects anywhere other than the 2 silver metal arms and the rear swing arm.

yep I made 1/4" shim off a old pin added it to center pin, put lock tight on and now works great

All you have to do is unscrew the fender screw, which is the third, wrong one at the bottom. It's the one closest to the pedals. You will immediately feel a huge difference in suspension performance.

I saw that slotted hole which was bolted tight, the side brackets were solidly bolted and prevented it from pivoting

@@MotoCheez Unfortunately, that's not enough. To the test please remove the rear fender completely and you will see that the suspension will work nice

I put #10 snap washers on the screw side that fit inside the bracket holes. It adds about 1mm to the length of the pivot pins. I also used loctite on the screws.

The easiest fix is unbolt the bottom bolt on fender behind pedals

You could take the lower bolt on the front part of the fender that hooks behind the pedals and disconnect that and it's easiest way to get that rear suspension to work

I think is an error with screws on many montage at the factory, because the size is very close but not the same. Thank you for that, I'll buy one in few weeks and do the same of I have the problem!

I had the exact same problem on a different ebike from a different maker, dont think they really understand the point of the sleeved bolt, could do with being a couple mm longer and some nylon washers

Any idea where to find replacement bushings for the rear pivot points? There are plastic pivot bushings in the rear two mounts (where the links attach to the swingarm) that wear out.

The bike is built by the shop he bought it from, not necessarily built by Engwe. That's why I always put my own bikes together.

Try the bmx handlebar mod it transforms the bike more comfortable and controllable .

I had the same problem with my engine x here in the u.k. I bought 2 86mm m8 axle bolts from amazon and that solved the problem. The mudguard on mine only drops down so far and doesn't attach to the bottom of the frame so I don't have any problems there. Bit of a crap flaw by engwe but having said that I enjoy riding mine. I was wondering whether you can run these without hall sensors as these can fail especially if you use full power a lot that generates a bit of heat within the motor.

This video helped me fix the rear shock on my Vitilan i7 which has a similar frame to your ebike. I couldn't figure out why the coil shock was so stiff and had almost no give. I loosened the bolts a little and suddenly the rear suspension started working. Thank you!!

Can you make a video of what you did? I also have a vitilan and I recall watching a KZfaq review of the bike and a older gentleman also made the comment of loosening something but he didn’t show how to do it.

@@t0nyT The two screws that he points to at 00:22 and 00:31 seconds in are the two I loosened. They were torqued down too much from the factory.

@t0nyT I have not had any problems at all, One guy said the bushing started wearing out where to pivots are that you have to loosen a little bit for the rear shock

Question for ya, I tried to upgrade my shock to dnm aoy36rc but can’t get shock on. Won’t compress, same suspension but can’t fit shock into mounts without compressing shock as frame is in the way! Ugh. Can you help?

I'm not sure because I did not change the shock, but if it doesn't fit I don't know if it will work.

With the upgraded version of the Engine Pro (yours is the older model), the lower part of the fender doesn't go so low and isn't bolted to the frame, so there shouldn't be a problem there. I don't know if they fixed the suspension though.

I dont get it? What was the fix? Didnt you just unscrew and screw the bolts back? How did that help the suspension to work better? Or did I miss something?

In the description I did a better fix which was take the front bolt out of the fender that hooks to the frame low and yes you have to loosen up the pivot points of the shock assembly longer bolts would be the better fix

I just got my engwe engine pro, took it for a ride yesterday and when you go fast the rear fender rattles like crazy. Is it because of the suspension? I checked everyting and all the screws and whatnot is tight.

@@MotoCheez no yet, but is this the issue? I was think of removing the backfender entirely. I saw your video assembling the bike, mine does not have 2 skrews holding the fender by the rear suspension, I only have one.

@@MotoCheez the engine pro is more accesible but the x26 looks strong and heavy. Is good for 5'6 man? i can buy the engine pro today but need to wait couple more days for x26. I just like the x26 because i think is more luxurious and might save me in a car accident

If you can fasten it there with a washer, many just remove the lower bolt behind the pedals

i noticed that the center screw it's creating a lot of noise when i push the suspension, i tried to remove to grease it but it's very difficulty to get it out, seems sticked inside the hole and need a lot of force

There's 3 screws total that hold fender on, just remove the bottom front screw that's behind the pedals, leave the other 2 tight. It'll allow the suspension to move freely

Yes, it's just the bottom screw on fender. With all 3 connected the suspension doesn't work properly. There's other people out there saying to do same

It slides up and down. I put the easier fix video in the description it's basically keeping that bolt on and taking the bottom bolt of the fender off and then it just moves up and down

Most common reason fender accidents happen is cuz the lower bold connecting the rear fender shouldn't be there. Its the reason your higher one ripped off.

Pre-assembled then: every bolt loose. Pre-assembled now: every bolt tightened to max torque so nobody can sue us for disintegrating mid ride because nobody finishes the assembly. 😁

Yea but alot of it is that shock is garbage that came on my m20 i put a 650lb rear coil shock wait better then that that shock os like 20$on aliexpress

That is too bad that they did not size those pins correctly and having the fender slip up and down is a poor mechanical solution.

I put a revised fix in the description, apparently they were supposed to be shipped with the lower fastening bolt for the fender not installed so it moves up and down at the lower point
