Easy way to help with buffeting is buying a windshield “spoiler” or extender. Really cleans up airflow. Bought that on my africa twin and suddenly i could tour for about 8 hours or so without having real problems with airflow

When the fuel light goes on, I went 50 miles at 70 mph (I had a small gas can strapped to the back of my T7, so I wasn’t afraid of getting stranded) and still didn’t run out of gas!! The craziest longest fuel reserve I have ever experienced on a motorcycle!

Having owned and ridden a DR650 for a while before buying my T7 sure helped a lot feeling confident on it. There's not a single place where I took my DR where I didn't take my T7. Loving it!

Great vid mate! Quick tip for the ABS switch, if you're pulling up for a short time you can just rest on back brake and deliberately stall the bike at standstill, the ABS will remain off when you restart the bike 🤙🏾 Great vid mate!

Anyone who want to ride a twin cylinder off road needs to do themselves the favour of riding an enduro bike for two years beforehand. Factor it into the cost of owning a T7. It will completely revolutionise your adventure experience. Trying learn on a T7 is insanity. None of the guys everyone admires (P.T for example) learnt on an adventure bike. There are so many thresholds you’ll never cross. But a couple of years on an enduro will allow you to develop the skills needed to use some of these big bikes capabilities. And then after all that, buy a 690 so you never have to ride a 200kg adventure bike again.

I just brought a T7 world raid and what an awesome machine it is and for those who own a T7 Yamaha do the screen extender which works really well. I'm 5'11 and on my T7 world raid the wind clears the top of my helmet. I was doing 65mpg with my visor up and had no problems with any buffering.

5'7"/170cm here. Lowered the seat by about 3/4"/18mm, bought Daytona "booster boots" with a 1"/25mm higher heel, and lowered the bike with links by 18mm. Now the height is perfect for me. Also I'm going to remove my SW Motech crash guards and install the Camel ADV bomb proof front fairings. I'll reduce top heaviness and total weight that way.

Bought the bike, went offroad and got really scared of the size of the bike and to ride it offroad and to drop it. Went on a 4 days enduro training (with ktm exc 250's) and that changed the world. Got back on the tenere and got huuuge trust in this bike. If you can trick your head to that you're riding a light enduro bike, your t7 will acutally feel light and easy on the trail (with some training for sure).

I got mine last year and I’m totally in love with it. It has everything you need and even more.

All these peeps saying they're too small need to get used to tall bikes. Ride a WR for 6 months and you won't worry about the height of anything. You don't muscle a bike around, you finesse it.

Pol is about 6 ft 7 and 110 kg of shredded athlete muscle, never think you will ride like him unless you are built like that and have insane skills

I sold my Africa Twin to buy a Tenere my mates gave me so much grief until they rode it. Its 50kgs lighter, thinner and easier to manage off road as I am a shorty 174 cms. Thou it is not as refined as the Africa twin on the Highway. I can also commute into Melbourne on this 48klms one way easy as. I did the Safe 2 Ride with Paul and dropped my Africa up one of the hill climbs out of a creek in the rain. It was an awesome day, I am going to do it again on my new Tenere. Keep on riding catch you on the trails.

Thanks for your review and thoughts on the T7. I considered one of these for my re-introduction to riding (hadn’t rode a bike in 24 years), and I wanted to explore dirt since it had been 32 years since I rode a dirt bike. I ended up getting a Suzuki DRZ400s this spring instead as a “trainer” bike to “get back on the horse” essentially. I think I made the right choice even with the limited range on the DRZ (100 mile range), as it has been a great reintroduction to both riding, and a great bike to train for more technical dirt/rock riding this spring/summer/fall here in interior Alaska. Sadly my last ride of the season was Oct 1st… as winter is now fully upon us here (6+ inches of snow and freezing rain the last 7 days). That said, I am thinking at least one more summer run on the DRZ, then I may consider an upgrade to the T7.

I'm 5'6 so no stranger to not touching the ground. have ridden for 13 years and had street bikes as heavy as 750 lbs. And the moment I sat on a t7 I knew it was too big for me. Too bad a cause I love the look. But I'll get something else for my off-road bike

Trying to decide between this and the Tuareg. I can’t find a single review that favors this over the Aprilia. But I can see the Yamaha is rock solid reliable

This video confirms that my purchase of KTM690 Enduro R was a wise one. With a better power to weight ratio, and 159kg wet, it blows the T7 away.

I just bought my first dual sport a 2023 Honda 300l rally. I sat on the Tenere 700 and I felt the tipping point which you and others were mentioning, It felt a little to top heavy for me. Yes I need to add a lot to the Honda but that's the fun part about building a motorcycle to your liking. I would like to do some light day camping and exploring.

I started with an 650gs, then an Africa Twin before building out my dream T7. Your review is the first of many I've seen which perfectly characterizes the T7... Top heavy, easy to drop and hard to pick up. My 1100 Twin was WAY easier to maneuver, especially slow speed technical. Keep a little speed, and T7 dominates. Def not a good first time adventure bike. I don't recommend rear shock lowering links as you risk tire contact with the underside of rear mudguard. It slows the bike and will hurt your tire. They may work better for street only bikes but off road you have too many sudden elevation changes and constantly braking for the big ones because you lack clearance for your back tire will quickly spoil a great day on the dirt. Did it on my wife's XT200 and soon changed back to OEM links. Just saying..

complete noob here (4th year riding, 1st year off road), i did the thing....i bought the T7 last year new, dropped it of course, cursed it of course. LOVE the damn thing ....of course. I wont stop learning and i am stubbord and wont learn on anything else. I feel that once i will handle this, i will be able to handle any bike

If you can get a hold of natural comfrey leaves (known as knit bone), the absolute best and fastest way to mend soft tissue damage or broken bones...also comfrey is readily available in a cream at pharmacy

I think is the best and most honest review of this bike, especially from a non advanced rider's point of view. There is so much hype about this bike that props it up way more than it should be. Not that it is not a great bike but it lacks in many areas, however, that is reflected in the price. If I created the perfect T7 it would have the Acerbic larger tank, upgraded brakes, Cruise control, rider aids, more comfortable seat and and I would put a Tractive suspension on it. Sadly, it would make the bike a $17k bike.....which is why I bought a Desert X for $17k. If Yamaha would do these things to the T7 I would pay the price and love the reliability. I realize that many wanted the simplicity of no electronics but to have an ADV bike that is meant for long travel CC is a miss.

I am 6'2", 270lb with gear, and have almost no offroad experience. Current bike is zh2. I just want to explore dirt roads in my state and still keeping the street bike.

Pol Tarres has definitely done a good job for yamaha to market these machines. One thing to remember, though, is that he rides a 1 of a kind T7. His weighs about 180 something like 25 kg lighter than a stock bike, and a lot of that weight was shed up top. I also have no idea what his gearing is, but my guess is that it's probably not great on the highway. Not trying to bash the T7, in fact I'd love to own one someday. Just be realistic though, it's a 200+kg bike, you won't ride it like a bmx.

Being 1.70cm, I’d definitely need a lowering kit for this bike, but then again, all adv bikes are quite tall. But since we are emigrating from the Netherlands (where you really do not need an adv bike) to Portugal I really feel I need to trade in my Vulcan S for a more off-road capable bike, and this Teneree just looks amazing and I already know I love the CP2 engine. Nice video mate.

Tipped over yesterday on the exhaust side . Haven't ridden in many months and finally got some free time . Did a little slow speed stuff to get familiar with it again . Found out the rear brake was gone from the start so I stayed on 35mph streets or less . Not sure what or why the brake isn't working , probably the fluid or something but the shop is getting a phone call in a minute . Very fun bike but it will get a stablemate like a TW200 for easy fun take in the truck and hit mountain trails etc .

Good vid. Take a look at the HP Corse Short Exhaust. it goes inside the mount. I put the full exhaust on mine, no cat. I have Ohlins STX 46 rear sprung for me and front fork internals and spring

All those pro riders like Torres,birch etc,they all have years of trials/enduro experience ,Pol Torres,s bike is stripped right back to bare minimum for weight so he can race it also.

I am 5'9 and I have softened the rear suspension and have been riding it like that for 3 years, no problems at all. Take everything a "pro" tells you with a grain of salt. A lot of it is just hearsay and not factual. If you weren't meant to soften the rear suspension, they wouldn't put a knob there to do so would they.

Its a great review and some great points and much better bike than the big ADV bikes out there and something many people need to know is you do not need the big heavy powerful bikes they are absolutely useless when put on the dirt against the lighter nimble less powerful bikes which will eat them up, i might have to just go hire one for a day as its very hard for my specific skills to get a good understanding of the bike and the way i use a bike coming from racing motorcross - doing hard enduro racing and living life on dirt - apon writing this i went across to aireman - motology youtube big motorcross racer and adventure rider here in Aus in WA who answered all my questions

the rear frame is already finished. I don't like welded rear frames.Especially with the exhaust holder. That's just as stupid as indicators in the handguards of the new 1300 Gs

I own a Aprilla Tuareg 660. Lifting these narrow middle weight adventure bikes is a pain. They lie very flat on the ground if you don't have anything on the bike. I did a, for me, challenging off-road trip and had to pick it up 4 times and after that I just said yea lets go home not sure I can pick it up a 5th time. After that I considered taking bags with me even if I don't need luggage just to stuff it with something soft and light just to give it some starting angle. I concede that I lack skill and experience but man T7, Tuareg and Transalp really do lie down flat.

With enough talent, any bike can be marketed to us mortals. I bought into it and will not lie to anyone about what this bike is for. If I'm cruising, I'd rather be on my Goldwing,. If I'm dual sporting, I'd rather be on my WR250R. If I'm on single track, I'd rather be on my YZ250x. If I'm sport touring, my MT09 fits the bill. I wanted to love the T7 but I can't.

Well when I was young I had a DT50 then a XT350 then a CBR600. Past 20 years without a bike I had a Shadow 750 and an R1. Sell those and bought a MT-09 SP 2021 and now I was thinking to trade the MT for the T7

I wish I were younger, but at 67 years old, the top heaviness of this bike is a major red flag.

I have had 50cc 125cc and a ktm 690 sm and im thinking about getting a tenere and only - is that im less then 5 feet 8 inches. so its maybe a struggle but i shall see when i go test drive one of these.

You are going to drop it when it tips. You're a smaller man. At 6'1" 265lbs, I don't drop mine. Full exhaust saved 14lbs. Lithium battery another 5. Very used to the weight after 5k miles. Doesn't feel heavy anymore. Rear crash/grab bats help.
