In today's video, I want to discuss engine braking in MotoGP 24 and compare some of the engine braking values

In most situations EB basically replaces using the rear brake(the more EB the less RB and vice versa). If you add too much RB on top of it that just locks the rear and you can even hear the RPM drop as the cylinders are starved for fuel and the engine "chokes". The balance of EB and RB is also track and bike dependent. Interestingly enough, Miguel Oliveira gave an interview on this exact topic back in April. This is what he had to say: "“In terms of the rear brake usage, we try to keep it to a minimum, to let the engine braking work more effectively" “We work hard on the corner entry, so we use that to keep reducing the speed when we need to. Of course, you cannot keep much pressure when you’re in that [entry] phase of braking into the corner, so that’s where we especially use the rear brake."

“As long as you’re comfortable, you can find time” couldn’t agree more, such good advice. You and I have identical setup preferences, I guess I have no excuse to be slower 😂 Outstanding video!! #stayace

If you use High EBs like EB5 it’s recommended to avoid using the rear brakes as much as you can Then If you use EB-1 use as much rear brakes as you can

i use engine brake 3 on most tracks and i also decrease the slipper clutch a notch or two because i like a tiny bit of oversteer especially going into those hairy hairpin U-turns lol. 😊

that is decreasing braking performance though, isn't it? I use EBS 4 and slipper clutch on 5. Give it a try

This has been the most helpful of the guide videos so far. I think my biggest hurdle now is figuring how to get a good launch. Nothing seems to be working at the moment.

Great content. I use EB-2 And it’s because I like braking and turning with the rear a lot. That’s my riding style. For riders who use very little to no Rear brakes higher engine brake will be fine

I'm actually really liking this game now, i didn't like it at all at first because i jumped onto the insane MotoGP bikes right away and was just all over the place, plus idk any of these 'new' MotoGP tracks... when did they retire Laguna Seca and the likes from the motoGP lineup? lol how old am i? i found a section in the menu for 'nostalgia tracks' and there they were! how old am i?! lol❤ ...

Hi DrAce, I have a question for you in regard to the rear brake. So from playing around if I apply the front and rear brakes together (I’m in Moto3) and apply a fair amount of rear brake in corner entry, it causes the bike to understeer and opens the trajectory, this is even more exacerbated in wet weather but that’s another topic. However when I apply a tiny amount of rear brake while upright then only front brake all the way to apex the bike bites more on the front causing a more closed trajectory which is better in my opinion. So my question is - when do you feel is the best part of a corner to apply the rear brake? While upright at first stage of braking or much later around the apex area rather than all the way? Thanks for the video mate

I do like to apply the rear brake under heavy braking and lift off until the apex sometimes, but it really depends on the corner. I do like to use it a lot, especially the smaller rear brake disc. You could try that

Dr ace. I’m pretty fast in career mode. Online I’m 10 seconds slower than most players and it’s all down to breaking. They break far far later than me. And somehow get it stoped, I don’t have a chance to even. Slow down when I break there
@DrAce46
@DrAce46 2 күн бұрын
I think that will come with practice mate, keep trying to be a little bit later on the brakes until you feel comfortable 👍🏻

@@DrAce46 do they Tyers make much a of difference? I’ve noticed on 47c day and I choose softs, they don’t go red or anything with heat, is it a grip thing? Do the break disks make much of a difference?

Stop using the rear brake so much when EBS is on 5. It’s not the engine braking that is the issue but you are not adapting to the change in the bike. It’s like running no AW and then complaining the bike is wheeling because you aren’t modulating the throttle.
