BBR Heavy Duty Shock Spring Install on Honda CRF125F (FB). A complete installation guide.

Жыл бұрынThe BBR Motorsports Heavy Duty rear shock spring is a must have for the Honda CRF125F (Big Wheel) if you plan on doing any serious riding, or are a heavier adult rider. And if you install the stiffer shock spring, you should do also install the stiffer front fork springs as well. Also from BBR Motorsports.
The installation of the shock spring is not that straight forward. I ended up also having to replace the rear shock U bolt on the end of the shock shaft. Also called the rear shock foot. I installed the Diamond Minis shock foot extender, which threads straight on and adds some length to the rear shock, raising up the rear of the bike a bit. This mates well to the Pro Circuit upper fork clamp that I am also installing, and this will raise the front of the CRF125FB.
All great mods, and all important if you are a taller, heavier or faster rider. Its a great setup. Stay tuned for the complete build on this motorcycle. Its gonna be impressive.

Too remove the shock foot you tighten the locking nut down to the shaft and then you can hold the shaft from spinning when you try too lossen the foot. If the end is peaned over too much you can take an oscillating muti tool with a metal blade and cut it off. It is possible that yours might have been overly peaned over at the factory but I didnt have a problem with mine.

I had zero issues installing mine just unscrewed it nice and slow nothing stripped and everything went back easy. I did you a sprint compressor from tusk cost me 30 bucks but saved me a trip to a dealership where they’d charge me enough to justify buying a vonkat shock which I did anyways so I can compare them.

What month was your bike manufactured? Mine is june 2022 but its still listed as a 2023 with the updated graphics.

I am not sure. If it uses the same shock it would, but you would need to look into that.

I used a fine tooth hacksaw blade. Cut a very thin piece. Was not too difficult.

How did you cut it off? I'd pay to see that video. I can't even get that foot/shoe whatever you call it to even budge. It all spins as one piece. When I grab the bolt with a wrench and put the foot in a vice I get nothing. It feels like it's welded together.

It wasn't easy for sure. I almost took mine to a machine shop. But I did manage to turn the shock foot off and past the pressed end of the shaft. It was not easy and had to buy a new shock foot from Diamond Minis. If you run into too much issues, you probably need to take it to your dealer or a machine shop.

@GOATbro I ended up grabbing the shaft with a vice and tapping it off with a screw driver and a sledge. It came off finally, but I couldn't thread the new piece from diamond minis down as far as I'd liked to because I think the threads got damaged a little bit. Either way, it's on now and feels alot better than before and I like the fact it sits up a little higher too. Thanks for the tips and the video.

So whats the verdict do you like everything with the heavier spring and the extended foot? I have all the same stuff just waiting to put it on was curious what your final thoughts were compared to stock. Im 5'11 210 lbs so really hoping for a little less sag

It's a major difference over stock. It's necessary for larger riders for sure. I am very happy with the setup.

@GOATbro_Australia thats good to hear I really like the bike just wish it had less squat from the factory. I also put a crf230 kickstand on way better than the stock one if you havent done that I recommend it
