Motor Catamaran Amsterdam

This catamaran was built by Martijn Boon from Andijk - The Netherlands. Martijn is a welder and machinebuilder who also likes to design and built special things.
His idea was to built a stable boat with a high sittingposition that could
cruise through the dutch canals with a relative high speed without causing big waves.
This boat is built of aluminium and powered by a 3 litre V6.
It is doing well since 2002 and it is funny to see how people are amazed by it.

Zoiets zie je niet veel op het water, heb verschillende jaren terug ook zoiets gezien in het streekbos. Moet er nog ergens foto's van hebben. Ging flink snel, dacht toen dat het om een proefvaart ging. Heb hem nooit meer gezien tot k een keer op de schaats dacht tr zien in onderdijk. Kan dit kloppen?

That is a beautiful boat, but how fast? In most of the Netherlands any kind of speed is illegal. Boats that are on full plane typically have almost no wake. Many PWC's easily go up to 90-100 km/h. They have no wake at all unless they have to go slow by law.

V6 3 litre. What overkill. With that much power you could ski behind it. If all you want to do is go no faster then in the video, then 10 hp would be enough. JD

This boat is not built for real high speeds The aluminum construction is very solid for a long boatlife. This makes the boat heavy. The nicest cruisespeeds are between 14 and 35 km/hour. At 35 km the engine is running half power. Above 45 km/hour I get a shower {nice wen it's hot] Under 10 and above 18 km/hour there is almost no wake. Plans for future are mounting hydrofoils under the front for lifting the boat and reducing drag. I think the boat can be made much faster very easily..
