Hi Joe:) I bought this bike exactly a year ago after two decades of road/track riding so I’m also new to the off-road scene:) what astounded me so much about this bike was that when it falls over, and it eventually will when you try more challenging terrain, it’s so easy to pick up and it’s completely happy to fall over too😛 as a road-bike rider, dropping your bike is heart wrenching but I dropped this bike in my garage taking it off the paddock stand and nóthing happened😛 meanwhile I’ve fallen over with it plenty of times in mud, gravel… it’s fine😛 so reassuring that you won’t break a peg, gear lever, everything’s designed to take drops. And the low fuel tanks make for a low centre of gravity which makes it a breeze to pick back up. My mates always step off their bikes when I fall in challenging terrain but when they get to me I’m already back in the saddle ready to spray them with mud 😁 enjoy this beast! Love from Belgium:)

Thanks for the comment. Great choice in bike and tyres. What’s the riding like in Belgium? I’ve dropped mine a few times and I completely agree with you haha

@@freedom-machines I’ve only been riding offroad for a year, it’s mostly illegal in the sense that you can’t go with an engine-powered vehicle in most nature-surrounded areas but I try to be friendly to bypassers and wave and slow down around people walking… haven’t had bad experiences :) I’ve noticed giving a wave or a big nod and slowing way down is unarming to most:) on the road I have two decades under my belt and you have to really fend for your own safety, car-people are very unaware of their surroundings here😂

Great choice of tires. I’ve run these on my 790 adventure R for the last 12 months, and they are brilliant on road and green lanes, especially the rock and slatey stuff here in Wales. Only sloppy mud track is their downfall but that not what they are for. I run mine 35 psi road and 28 psi off road . I carry a mini compressor pump and takes minutes to re inflate .

Thanks for letting me know about the psi I will give that a go with a mini compressor 👍🏻

Good content mate, nice one. I've been looking at the KTM range to do green lane/road riding, thanks for the heads up on the tyres. I only have road bikes at the moment but we should catch up sometime for a ride out. You was so close to a bikers meeting point at Riverton barn.

Thanks Mark, was I really? There’s plenty of great bikes in this space but I love the KTM. Yeah absolutely, that would be great 👍🏻 are you on IG?

I have these tyres on my Honda CRF300L. It is admittedly a very different bike but I'm very impressed with what these tyres can do, both in the dirt and on-road. I've ridden through sand, mud, clay and tyre will tractor through. It won't get you through fast, but it will always drive forward. Rocks and gravel are no problem either. The only limit to these tyres off road is grip at the tyre's extreme edges. You'll notice this mostly when climbing out of a rut at angle as the bike will want to kick out at the back. But it does so very predictably, so with a little bit of adjustment, you'll get used to it. This limit off-road quickly becomes an advantage off-road though because you can really throw this bike in corners as if it was on a street tyre. You can lean.... and then lean some more! What impressed most however, was when I got caught in torrential rain riding through some very fast and cold roads in the mountains. I've been on more road-oriented tyres and even those didn't grip as much as this tyre did. It's probably due to the Michelin's soft compound. I've done around 1700km on these, about 60% on-road, and wear has been good.

Thanks for the comment, super handy to hear your thoughts on these tyres. I’ve hardly had a chance to ride since filming this video. It’s going to take a bit of time to trust these tryes. I’ve probably only done 100 miles so far. I love the Honda cfr300l though, great choice 👍🏻

When going offroad, deflate Wilds down to 1.0-1.2 (front and rear) and you'll get much more grip. You could try deflating them ever more, but your KTM is rather heavy so you may pinch your tube, or the tyre may slip from the rim. On road, pump them back to Michelin's 2.2/2.6bar pressure and they'll work perfectly.

Hope you find an experienced group to have regular days in the dirt, don't know your area so can't help, nothing like a bit of mud slinging to build off road confidence, I'm lucky enough to be living on the border of mid Wales, as for your tyre choice goes Spot on, I use Mitas Enduro Trail E-07, very similar to the Anakee, you will soon get use to the drifting at high speed and ecellarating out of a bend, as with road tyres they will make your heart miss a beat when riding over manhole covers,... No Starbucks where I go, I take a Brew in a flask and a Mars Bar, If on your own up in the hills make sure you tell someone where you are going as you may not get a phone signal, just saying, you will get all of the necessary safety information when you go for your off road training,... There aren't many of us that ride through the cold and wet seasons, salt and cold hands being top of the list, I have fitted H/bar Covers, or Mitts, with my heated grips im Toasty, Hey I am a retired OAP with health issues after all, I also wear a one piece plastic waterproof suit, surprising how much it stops all of the cold drafts that you tend to get with the fancy expensive gear,... Just do what ever it takes to enjoy the Freedom of Motorcycleing. OAP Wales UK.

Very excited for some training in spring, back to Wales for that. Can’t beat a decent brew in a flask! Still need to sort some heated grips but I have some heated gloves on route. Thanks again 🙏🏼

I put a pair of these on lately, now that I can't get the old desert tyre in my size. I think they made the anakee as a replacement. They're not bad. I had my tenere in a forest today meeting up with some mates on their trials bikes. Just rode in and parked. They gripped ok in the muck despite the road psi

I had the annakees on my old vstrom they never seemed to wear out very good tyre. Now i have a kawasaki versys 1000 with more road based tyre .Over the Yorkshire border you have near enough on your doorstep loads of great roads up past Burnley to Skipton and beyond Devils bridge acroos over to Richmond and Ripon And over to Harrogate cafe 59 on the A59 plenty of places to go .Search for biker cafes and you will be at somewhere different every weekend

Tyres looks great - I was thinking about either these or the Mitas E-07/09 for mine but leaning more toward the Michellin. I am in a similar boat to you.. New rider, looking to get out on some soft to medium trails but also spend a lot of time on the road so the the Michellins seem perfect. Im down in Wiltshire way, loads of lovely places round here, green lanes and country roads alike. Hit me up if you ever venture down south. Would be good to go for a ride out - Few of my pals round here are shit hot on the routes to take so i just follow them blindly majority of the time but im sure we could figure out some routes - They're everywhere! Also have Salisbury plane on my doorstep which is miles and miles of offroad riding. some more rugged then other.
