World's best motorcycle pants are RHOK (search Ebay for them) I think Tony Stark has one of these as well.
mykarz: "...those scooters actually came as an optional accessory with i think it was a civic or accord in like 82-83. They were built to specifically fit in the trunk of that car, which is pretty cool in my opinion. Only however many cars that were sold in that time span that had those scooters added, are how many of those that exist. Its a super rare little scooter, so you're lucky to see one."

"Excelsior Motorcycles" (UK) made a similar motorcycle in 1942 called the "Welbike". It was made for the Parachute Regiment during WW2, to take with them when they jumped out of an aircraft. The bike hung below the soldier on a long line, so that it landed before the soldier did. It weighed about 70lbs, had a range of up to 100 miles, and could reach 30 mph.

Some of the motocompo's came in 4-stroke and you are right they came in the back of the 82-84 Civic hatch back's along with a 1/2 gal gas can that you kept in the back for the moto. The intent was if you run out of gas you could carry the can while riding the bike to the gas station, fill both up and return to the car with gas.

I think that is what came in the back of a Honda City. Parking in Tokyo was usually quite a distance from your final destination so it was a last mile vehicle.

It's basically a scooter, like a spree 49cc, but with collapsable components to make it smaller and portable. I've thought about doing something like this. I think it would be a blast to travel the world, and bust one of these out and just go, then when you want to hitchhike or ride the bus or fly, break it down.

This was sold as an accessory for the Honda Today and City which are kei cars (660cc or smaller) in Japan. The City's cargo area (it was a hatch back) was designed specifically to hold the bike. It was sold 1981 to 1983. You can sometimes find them for sale in the U.S., mostly in Southern California. They made about 50,000 of them.

I got one of those Hondo todays with the bike in the trunk, in the trunk of my 79 Lincoln Continental Town car in case I break down, because I believe in redundancy, lol. Let me look in the trunk under the spare tire and see if it's still there. Sorry, couldn't resist.

***** LOL. Actually, the idea behind the mini bike is that many people commute into large cities. They may have to walk more than a mile from their parking space to their office, however, many office buildings have motorcycle/bicycle parking on the sidewalk right by the front door (or you could store this under your desk - but I imagine it wouldn't smell very good). It isn't really a emergency use type of thing. Many parking lots have sensors that will tell you exactly where the open parking spots are on your NAVI system, so this mini bike gives you the option of just choosing the first open space you find near your destination.

James Wyatt Well maybe so, but out here in the sticks where I live it would just be something to ride to the parts store to get parts to fix your car or truck, of course you need to make it quick and not be seen riding such a girly bike, lol. Most people around here ride Harley Davidson.

The Motocompo was an option for a Japan-only car called the Honda City. It was a tiny commuter or 'kei car'. Traffic and parking going into major Japanese cities can be so bad, you might be lucky to get a parking space 3 miles from work- and the Motocompo would solve that problem and take you the rest of the way.

This was made only three years, from 1981-1983 and sold only in Japan. It was made to be used with the Honda City compact car. The intent was to store it inside the rear of the car and use it for short excursions and the car itself for long trips. It never sold well, however. The unit itself weights about 60 lbs and is made to be easily loaded and unloaded. Due to a strange Japanese law at the time, these were limited to 15mph/30kmh.
