It will drag if you go up or down a inclined driveway. I dragged the hitch while double towing and the hitch is only sticking out a foot from my 5th wheel. That thing is sticking out like 3 feet which is ok if you only drive on flat surface but that’s not going to happen.

So smart! How do I get my hands on this idea? I’m pulling a Cricket mini Golf cart, what’s your thoughts? I also have a fifth wheel

Also selling the plans implicates him for liability, good luck!!

If the plans are not followed to the letter and design the liability will fall on the maker.

How hard would it be to put one of these on a 550 Ford SC class? Motor home being 4 wheel drive.

This rig would work on very few 5th wheel or bumper pull campers. The average tongue weight on the majority of rear-mounted receivers is only 300-500lbs. This unit has to weigh at least 200+ lbs by itself. Then even a lightweight Dual Sport bike is going to weigh 360lbs and up. Now, take into consideration the down-force every time you hit a bump or dip in the road. That weight will increase exponentially! I wanted something this simple for my KTM 390 Adventure bike. Researched for weeks... but the only viable choice was a trailer. Ended up ordering a 4'x6' Swivel-wheel trailer. The calculated weight at the receiver is 245lbs, and dips and bumps will have minimal effect since the weight is distributed between the receiver and the swivel wheel.

Can you tell us what you used for material. We have one we are trying to figure out how to do the same thing with. IF you could forward that info that would be great.

Not being able to see how you actually fabricated this platform and attached it to the frame I hope for the people's sake that will be behind you in a Vehicle that you reinforced the I beams that the Trailer sits on. Those I-Beams have only 1/8" thick web and when we do modifications like this we add 1/4" X 6" X 4' steel plate to each of the two I-beams and bolt them together. Those I-beams will crack due to fatigue with extreme side and Vertical loading on them. Looks real nice though.

My ttt doesn't have I beams it has tubular frame

Did it have any adverse effects on the towing of the trailer ? Such as adding bounce or causing sway because of the extra weight behind the axles ? Looks really nice !

Well I'm no engineer, But I am a Licensed plumber, And I also extended 3 ft. bind my Rv for a tool box, in-house Battery, solar batteries ect. I also extended my hitch and I will be manufacturing my own wheeled trailer hitch so it will help with wight and my Tow Dolly.

"As a structural engineer" you should know that the trailer is only rated to carry a specific load regardless of what you attach to it. The tires, axle and frame are only rated for a specific weight. In addition, if one modifies a vehicle and that vehicle is involve in an accident, understand that there is sure to be a lawyer questioning the modification. With that stated, if you're offering this modification as an individual be very careful. I would seriously consider forming a business and having the proper insurance before simply posting such a video. I wish you the best in your endeavors and hope my comments help you.

Depending on weight depends on the overlap distance of the c chanel.Doesnt take a engineering degree is you have common sense.lol

Would love to know what university gave him a degree in engineering. 800 lbs x 3 ft = 2400 ft/lbs of torque over every bump. When you examine factory welds on the frame, you will see they are inadequate for these loads and torques. I had a standard approved hitch welded to the frame by an experienced installer, pulled a trailer with below maximum tongue weight and had factory welds fail resulting in the entire hitch breaking loose. The loads were far less than those in this video.

University of Chicago, but no degree. Joined the marine corps in my 3rd year instead of being drafted. No welds, all oversized bolts. We did two trips across the country on some bad roads with no issues.
