“I’ve been stabbed twice I been shot twice, been in prison twice, and look where I’m at now, riding a motorcycle for Jesus, and we’re doing a retreat today to send disabled kids to camp. How? He’s got a purpose. He’s not done with me yet.” Tim Lawson rides with the United Methodist Motorcycle Association and is just one of the many people who have found peace and a new purpose in the group. Organizers Eddie and Patty Gill call their Oklahoma-based ministry “Million Miles for Christ” and have spent four years riding and reaching out to those who might not otherwise know Jesus or feel comfortable in a more traditional church setting. Eddie says, “A lot of people are just dying to be asked to come back to church.” The bike rides also give Patty a chance to be mobile despite having multiple sclerosis, and she is grateful for a chance to “be out and about and do something for God and for other people.”
