As usual, most folks who leave negative comments have never spent any time on a Sypder. I have a Spyder and a motorbike so I've got the best of both worlds. I can honestly say that my RS is just as much fun as any motorbike I've ever had. In fact in most cases it's more fun simply because of its balance and wow factor. The quality of this machine is excellent and I'm happy I bought it. It doesn't matter what machine you drive, I think some bikers are just narrow minded. Harley Vs Japanese bikes etc just enjoy your ride and hit the road!

We just got one of these for a bit of fun in winter, it doesn't replace a sports bike but when they're tucked up for the bad winter moths we hop on this and doesn't matter how much grit is on the road.

I rode two wheels for 37 years, five different motorcycles, before going to the Spyder. This is not "A bike with training wheels" as one idiot put it. It's a different riding experience, and definately a great solution for older riders or those with disabilities.
@endurotruckererniedesjardins8 жыл бұрын
I agree it's greet for a wife that can't keep up to a experienced rider. or a old guy that has a real hard time with holding up his goldwing and ain't ready to retire from riding something. is it a bike. no not at all. it don't ride like a bike. it don't steer like a bike. it don't feel like a bike. it's the fee fee machine real bikers laugh at and ask why would anyone lower themselves to a thing like this. not a fan

Ernie Desjardins I have a Ducati monster 1200s and get sportbike riders that tell me my bike is garbage. I also just bought a sounder. It's a fun little machine but it is not the same as a two wheeler and much more fun then a car.

Ive owned an RT Limited 2012 for 2 years now as well as owning and riding my HD1200XL. I have had so much fun on my RT that I recently traded in my HD and purchased an RSS. YEHAAA!!! I am having even more fun with this RSS(I say RSS stands for Really Super Snotty)when I'm in a red headed Bonnie Raitt moments. Ive had HD riders tell me Spyders aren't bikes, but I believe if what ever bike is ridden makes you happy, life is good! So grin on baby!

I have one and have ridden about 2,500 miles. I agree I would like to see a front brake. After 15 years on sport bikes, that is definitely one gripe. I love this thing, but it isn't a substitute for 2 wheel riding, but it's the next best thing.

I'm 17 and I want this. There's something about it that I like. I like that it brakes like a car, and I don't have to worry about it tipping over if someone pushes it. I'm not sure on what model or year I want. The Spyder caught my eye from the commercial, sorry but no 2 wheel motorcycle has dont that.

The ride feels more like a high performance sports car than a motorcycle especially when you make turns,it's like being on rails. The can am rs is very stable. The element of danger is still there because you have 3 wheels instead of 4.

Point of gravity: to high! unlike the T-Rex (where you sit INSIDE the machine) you sit ON the spyder and can't maneuver from side to side like you would on a motocycle. Size : ur unprotected on a motorcycle like a spider but the motorcycle is has wide has your shoulders so its easier to insert in tight spaces in case of emergency like when there is no place to brake ...
@stephenbovender474010 жыл бұрын
I ride my 2 wheeler solo cause I can act like a fool on it w/o worrying my wife. However, she is always ready to ride on the can-am. This thing is still in its infancy, give it some time, I know some die hard bikers that are switching to them or just adding them to their entourage. Its just getting going, and it has found its niche. It should only grow. Dude is right though, every where we go, people always stop and look at it and question you about it, dont get that on my 2 wheeler at all.
@mal-wx6tu8 жыл бұрын
Its the same for me, and people who have never ridden before, pickup on things like the frunk, the frontal protection, that no 2 wheeler offers, as well as the stability control system, when you explain it to them
@Jayt7506 жыл бұрын
I'll stick with my Tuono V4 Factory for now I think

The real negative is cost (especially now). The new, 2015, F3's with windshield package and backrests & such can run over $25,000... There is a bigger engine 1300+ cc's and claiming 115 HP. But the storage space got almost cut in half (in the nose cone); so if you wanted to travel a bit you'd probably have to go for the optional hard saddle bags (more dough)... I believe it is as many have already said: "...this is for those that can't shift, have balance issues, or other physical limitations". For the money I could have a Harley and a sport bike (and not take up any additional space in the garage...
@calebroach40089 жыл бұрын

I will have to correct myself; To drive the Spyder you need a car licence, or a B1 Licence (with a B1 licence you can drive three or four wheeled vehicles with an unladen weight no more than 550 kg).
@4435751410 жыл бұрын
So these are supposed to have automatic transmissions just like a car right? One problem I see that no one talks about is that these things are wide and would take up as much garage space as a car. You aren't going to just park it in a narrow space next to the car and against a wall. Plus you might even have to move the cars out of the driveway just to get it out to the street - if you only have a single car width driveway.

can someone explain why these things cost as much as a used 5th Gen Camaro V8? i went on cycle trader looking for a used one 2010 to 2012 and they cost 15, 16k and up just as much as the same year model Camaros. Can-ams are cool but way over priced.

+Alec C I don't think so. I've been riding mx since 1980. I got on a spyder and this thing sucks. my honest opinion is I really hated it. my knees and hips hurt like crazy after fighting this thing. if you think it'll feel like a snowmobile. kinda ya but not as forgiving. the only way I'd buy one is if there's no other way for me to hold up a 2 Wheeler.
@mal-wx6tu8 жыл бұрын
You dont need to fight it, just steer it naturally, dont countersteer like you obviously are, I own an RSS, its more forgiving, than any 2 wheeler in all weather conditions.
@ind34711 жыл бұрын
Re the negative comments from those who haven't owned or riden these machines. I own a 2010 RSS, a 47 Indian Chief, a 06 BMW K1200S and a 2010 SYM 125 scooter. Each machine is fun to ride depending on your mood & all draw attentention where ever we go. If it wasn't for the Spyder's semi auto gear box and trike config, my wife would not ride. They get non traditional motorcyclists on the road which is a good thing.
@metroasian11 жыл бұрын
In California, you don't need a motorcycle license to ride one! Just do a Google for Spyder Rentals in the Bay Area. I believe CA and DE are the only two states that allow this. Obviously, California has the best riding weather and scenery :)

$18K - You got to be kidding. I don't think it's worth more than about $5K or $6K. About the same as an ATV. Actually I was thinking of one for my wife who used to ride a motorcycle but is somewhat disabled and has problems with her knees and legs now. She would need more of a relaxed car-like seating - or at least seating like on a cruiser with forward leg positions. Also a nice big wide seat - and not a machine that requires body leaning to make a turn. Usage would be limited - just like a motorcycle up here in Northeastern Ohio.

I've had mine for 3 years. if you've ridden a sled you'd feel right at home. Remember, there is NOTHING motorcycle about a Spyder except the twist throttle so get that outta your heads before you test ride one. I can tell you that the friends I have with motorcycles will NEVER go out to ride like I do with my Spyder in the spring because of the sand on the roads. They are dead meat on 2 wheels and they know it! I ride mine all year around here in VT. After all,"it's a sled for the street!"

I would crash in the first corner. I'm used to turning the bars right to go left. I never realized how little power and performance these had. It would be a much cooler and more fun machine if it had a high revving 1200+cc inline 4. I'm giving thought of cannibalizing my Kawasaki ZRX1200R and using its parts to build a reverse trike or standard deltawing buggy for the streets.
