I could listen to this talk about bike reviews all day long. He has probably rode every performance bike out there. And he is so honest with his reviews. Seems like the kind of bloke who would give you the time of day down the local pub and just chat about bikes.cant say anymore really what a top bloke.

Once again, Michael Neeves demonstrates why he is arguably the best road tester out there. No bragging, no hype, no reading factory specs without really knowing what they mean. So few people out there can even begin to use a bike like this to anywhere near it's potential. Still, it's a wonderful exercise in excess! LOL Ducati riders in Italy preening! Imagine that!

Very honest review. Having owned v4s panigale before and now the V4R. I felt that the R changed directions better, and with the right rev range, came out of corners more stable than the v4s. I could get on the power sooner with the R. This is the best feeling panigale IMO yet, again having owned every iteration.

I’m really glad to see this, having watched your original V4R video about a million times. People tend to ignore the power and torque charts when comparing the V4S and V4R, as well as the tech specs noting the same 6% power increase for each model when fitted with the race exhaus. The V4S is actually stronger than the R in low to mid rev ranges. (The headline figure of 240.5 HP for the V4R requires a greater than $500 splash of oil as well as oil changes every few hundred miles.) I think the main differences are the suspension and the way the V4R engine so eagerly spins up to insane revs (just like its 40-plus pound lighter Superleggera V4 brother). It’s very reminiscent of the World SBK version, and I am sure it is very rewarding to ride for those few who can take advantage of all it has to offer. Oh, and then there is that new lightweight dry clutch.

I owned a 2019 V4R that i only owned for about 18 months due to a serious medical diagnosis that indicated I would no longer be able to retain my driver's license. thank God the diagnosis turned out to be incorrect. I am considering buying a 2023 R but I don't like the sound that they detuned it with the software mapping. I very much liked the beast that the '19 R was and i like to use my right wrist, my brain and my ass as the throttle map (a former AMA Expert license holder in GP 350cc Road Race). Fyi, i paid $64K for my '19 R with the track kit included.

As great as the reviews of these bikes are in covering the performance; I wish the long term reviews cover reliability and cost of ownership because most if not all Italian bikes have had reliability issues or complex maintenance schedules for the extreme models such as the V4R. It would be nice to know what you are signing up for in the long term, in my opinion. It is more or at least as important as the performance

@@Vforfreedom I guess since they do make money, they don't care so long as people buy these machines. I truly thought it would be limited to 500 or to previous owners like you said. I guess if people have money, Ducati won't deviate from selling these kind of motorcycles to just about anyone.

Great Review and Probably spot on. I have literally 8% of Neeve's talent so how can I even have an opinion. However is is insane now how bikes are so utterly powerful that we now judge how good they are by actually how capable the electornics are able to reign it all in. So people cream their pants about insane BHP numbers, But in reality the electronics resrict and govern it all anyway. In fact you prbably only actually get this things full beans when in 3rd gear and above at 12,000rpm. Soooooooo unless you're on a runway or a GP circuit with a phenomenally long straight. It's all utterly pointless. ANYWAY its still cool as all hell. Would I buy one.... YES Could i ride it ...... BARELY.

Less than 1% of panigales sold are ever taken to a track. 1% of those track toys are actually ridden to their limit. Which is kinda why I want Ducati to build a Hayabusa competitor. Big displacement V4. Huge power and torque. And a straight line monster (where 99% of the Panigales are ridden)
@sp00ky1969

@@larryhouse3776 I’m 99.86% certain that you made those percentages up. I see a lot of Panigale on track. At Brno a couple of weeks ago there was another SP2, two new V4R and a lot of other flavours of Panigale. There was even a Diavel setting respectable times. 😂 The nice thing about the limit being so high on these bikes is you can go pretty fast without having to test the limits, which is confidence inspiring.

How about riding/ driving something that can do everything you want it to do and always have something left?, that's surely not a bad thing and are you meant to try and buy something dialled back to your ability what happens and when your ability increases..

I think the point is that you’re past the speed limit by the time you grab second gear. There’s a lot to be said for riding a slow bike fast versus riding a fast bike slow. I drive an old 964 and much prefer it on the road to my previous 991.2 GTS, which I found boring on the road because it was so capable and fast. The old 964 has about 250hp and is huge fun on the road at sane speeds. Similar for bikes - I have a SportClassic for the road (about 85hp) and it’s great fun - my SP2 is for the track and it’s a lot more fun there than it was on the road.

If I had the 39 grand for this bike I would be more afraid of riding it at posted speeds on the road than at my personal limit on a track. Imagine a distracted cage driver T--boning you at 30 MPH and totaling the bike.

but who has the money? back in the days I would see ducatis so often it was like any other bike brand, but now even the base and el "cheapo" panigale v2" is a very rare sight to behold on the roads in Sweden. But so are the other new modern superbikes as well :D Imagine if we got an v4 599cc panigale and being super light. I would be on that in an instant if the price would not be incredibly high that is, which it probably would be.

He overplays the humble low key authentic reviewer, in reality he is a bmw salesman. People eat up his nonsense like he is the only truthful being to walk the planet. The bike is sick full stop. ( i have the 23 v4r) also have th s1000rr. No comparison. We are so lucky to be able to buy such amazing bikes these days so be grateful and appreachiate the performance. sure some cant use it but who cares there are many who can and do so keep em coming, faster lighter and gorgeous !!

Compared to the 1098 it looks overstyled. Ducati sport bikes have looked a bit cartoonish over the last few years, in my humble opinion. Nothing wrong with the way it goes, though.

My 2020 Yamaha XSR 900 "stock" has more torque than this Ducati from idle to 4,000rpm and the same bhp to 6,000rpm. Tell me why I need to buy an overpriced Italian turd when I can have a bespoke Japanese made UJM retro that is the equal up to 6,000rpm. And yes. On public roads I absolutely cap my redline at 6 grand because of the penalties of exceeding 6 grand on public roads on either of these. Cheers.

@@schmuppetify I just told you both of them are road bikes. They are NOT BSB, WSBK or Moto GP bikes. In Australia OUR road laws are now at the stage where exceeding the posted limit by 45KM/H is now an immediate arrest and bike/car impound coupled with a massive fine and loss of license for 2 years! Cobber? A 2007 Toyota Camry can do 120mph+ so where does that leave you? Where does it leave any of us? It's called the track. Mine's called THE BEND in South Australia. Where do you choose to exceed 130mph nowadays mate?

I used to ride sports bikes what fells like a while ago now. 20 yrs since i got a job where i couldn't afford to loose my licence. These bikes are kinda pointless these days. Roads in the uk are bad at the best of times. Everyone has a dash cam and can report you for whatever you may have done to piss them off and the chance to open up are pretty few and far between. Your better off getting an older 600cc so you can wring its neck a bit than one of these.
