His double bass drums were not only pioneering for their time, they are still potent. This fucking double bass has more punch than all the clicky death metal 300bpm bullshit because it was used tastefully and with style. He was a drumming god :(

Well said, it is so true and so many people forget the significance a drummer has to a band's overall 'feel'. Two other drummers who had the same impact with their bands were Phil Rudd with AC/DC & Hermann Rarebell with the Scorpions - no other drummer in Motorhead, AC/DC or the Scorpions ever made the songs sound the same... I guess the Clive Burr songs never sounded quite the same with Nicko, but Nicko is ace so hey....
@keefriff99

Mikkey Dee is an amazing/brutal drummer, but when he quit King Diamond and joined Motorhead it was a mistake. He was already the heaviest in King Diamond, I thought. Philthy just gave Motorhead that perfect speed metal/punk/thrash sound without getting all technical, and melodic like Mikkey.

It's a bummer about Lemmy being sick and Motorhead not touring for awhile, so maybe Mikkey will rejoin King Diamond for his upcoming Fall tour....? Haha, I doubt it, but it would be badass! Mikkey left, because he envied King getting all the credit and spotlight! Which sadly, is true. King and the band is still in a way underground , and its a shame how Michael Denner/Timi Holm/Mikkey Dee, and especially Andy LaRocque don't get that much credit in the heavy metal world!
