Not sure about the 24-30k kms per year logic. Petrol cars cost ~ ₹8 per km whereas EVs cost ₹1-2 per km. So even in the worst case scenarios it takes 50000 kms to make up the extra cost (including savings from service costs). Considering mass market owns cars for 5 years on average, one needs to drive not more than 10-12k kms per year which equates to ~1000 kms per month. I’m an EV user for the last 3.5 years and you can trust me with these facts

when are you due for battery upgrade - what will be the cost , factored that in ??
@iGuruCrazy
@iGuruCrazy Ай бұрын
@@sanshirs so far in 4 yrs and ~50000 kms, battery didn’t degrade much. And one should never think about battery replacement or cost as it’s done only when something is really wrong or the capacity is way below 80%. Battery warranty is anyway 8 yrs and 160000 kms which is well beyond my usage limits. So I’m least worried about battery.

Bought the XUV400 EL Pro two weeks ago. Have owned and driven a Tesla model Y for over a year so I have lived the life of an EV owner. The space inside is just very practical and the performance of the car in “fun” mode is adequate. It makes a lot of sense to drive this car here in Bangalore with adequate charging infrastructure. Finally, I actually like the light steering wheel for a city car like this. Really helps be nimble in this stop start traffic. Where I feel they still have to do a lot more is the QA on the units. My drive mode switch was faulty from the time of delivery and is still not fixed. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt however i am patiently waiting for them to fix it with new switches. The OTA with CarPlay and adaptive reverse guidelines are also still just promises with no ETA Adrenox is no where close to being a finished product in itself, for me, this has been the biggest let down. ( remember my reference is a Tesla)

Karthik sir the way your spot-on about 400's traction control and wheel spinning problem is .....Uff!. Here's the story. One of my friend got a XUV 400 from the first batch last year. One night he got into an accident with a Range rover. I'm like its a different league car...why? He said the acceleration was so exhilarating he felt confident racing that car. Exactly like you said he ran out of control in a corner with some sand, hit the range rover and they both hit the divider, half of the XUV 400's body got damaged bad (I'm surprised how it got 5 stars, front axle and 2 wheels popped out). Range rover got only 2 of its panels damaged. He was in shock himself, he said in the first 2 months it seemed in control but something weird happened that night of the accident.

Thanks a ton guys! I came across this video at such an opportune time that I can’t believe its true. I took a TD of the XUV 400 just yesterday (26.08.24) & fell in love with it. Of course, I had done my background research but there’s only so much that we commoners can analyse an automobile product (unlike the experts that you guys are). I had almost decided to bite the bullet but after listening to this video, I would definitely like to wait for the “EL Pro Max” update to jump on to the EV bandwagon. Thanks once again ❤

Hi, so I was seriously considering the EL Pro 39.5 KWH. I have beenn driving for about 11 years iin Bangalore now, and last 2 years have been Tigor EV, so I am familiar with EV driving too and I love how effortless and smooth yet powerful the EV driving experience. So I'm very tempted to go for another EV. I do have some questions - When you say XUV 400 feels incomplete even after the 2024 update - is there a safety concern in using the fast/fearless drive modes in city or on the highway? And if I understand correctly, Fun mode is more than adequate/punchy for the city, but on the highway it may limit your overtaking opportunities due to the cap on top-speed. But if your highway driving style is not rushed, but more laidback and if you overtake only when there's enough room and time in a steady/linear fashion than bursts of speed, would you still feel there's an issue/limit in using Fun mode on the highway? Or is there again a safety concern on using even the Fast mode on the highway, even if it's for overtaking? And in the city if I want to overtake in quick bursts (when I'm rushing to beat the traffic/signal etc) does the fun mode have enough power for that without a safety concern?

10/10 for the quick summary. One thing I would point out is that the text prompts are way too quick to just glance at what's written in them. Look around the 15 mins timeline. Maybe a small tip would be to split the screen to show both the hosts and the info at the same time.

Never been a fan of these car makers although they have improved a hell lot lately. I am happy with my Toyota for now. Will wait for more choices in hybrid cars in the future hopefully in 2-3 years time. Hybrid revolution is coming....😊

For people who HATE tata because of prior service experiences this is actually a viable option. I think it's gonna be more of a workhorse car than the Nexon. The Nexon with all its bells and whistles doesn't not inspire confidence from a durability stand point. This to me does ! Although it's an unfinished product, many might not care about the unfinished bits.

44:55 The top end XUV300 Turbo Petrol AMT costs about 70k less on road Maharashtra than the XUV400 EL Pro single tone 39.5KWh. That's about 1500/month difference in EMI. Or about 15 liters of petrol (that will take you about 200km on the Turbo Petrol) 250km in 1 month is all it takes for it to become economically viable in month#1. How do you say that it will take 100km/day? And remember that this is for a larger car than the XUV300. Do explain this one.

Mahindra's NMC chemistry vs Tata's LFP chemistry which is better as per your vision?? I also heard that in Mahindra's upcoming born electric cars they are using BYD's Blade Technology Batteries. Have to see. In blade technology batteries there will be a gap between each battery cell with which if one cell gets effected it doesn't pass on to the other cells.

@HkJ3708

In my view Mahindras NMC is better than Tatas LFP because , 1. Mahindra uses the battery of Farasis Energy which is a brand in worlds top 10 battery manufacturer list. Whereas Tata haven't yet properly reported the company they use. 2. Nexon EV has a large number of battery replacement got within the last few months where none of XUV never did a battery replacement. 3. If Tatas LFP is of a good quality why can't they offer a good period of warranty like BYD does. 4.LFP is a testing technology it's still not that stable as NMC. So BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Premium cars of Tesla,Volvo,Kia,Hyundai all uses the same NMC as Mahindra. After these scenarios I think XUVs NMC is obviously better than TATAs LFP. But still actual LFP technology of BYD which is gonna be used in future BE series of Mahindra can be better than current NMC of XUV400

@@HkJ3708Tata uses GotionGX cells Battery replacement is a last resort solution for errors which can’t be resolved at dealer level, since replacement offers fastest turnaround time for issue resolution because dealer cannot open battery due to tool and worker lacking Nexon EV has sold 100k+ unit so obv purely statistically, even if both xuv and Nexon have equal issues, more number of nexons will be affected BYD LFP is gold standard of LFP Next CATL Qilin LFP Tata LFP is nowhere close to them, that much I agree BMW Mercedes etc make performance cars for which LFP adds extra weight which is undesirable Further, for these luxury cars, cost is not an issue for their buyers but for budget cars it is. Most of these western EV makers have colder climates where NMC works fine while for hotter climates, LFP is suited due to its higher operating temp range of 60°C compared to NMC which is good till 30°C only

EVs need more mainstream coverage, there is too much propaganda about hybrids being better. No one talks about having to do maintenance of an ICE and BEV (battery replacement) on a hybrid. Hybrid batteries are NMC chemistry which has lower charge cycles and will go bad faster than a BEV because it will cycle more than a BEV given the small size. And it will still cost a few lakhs to replace (even though the size is same as a electric scooter)

Why is it propaganda? We should discuss differences in opinion. 🤷‍♂️

@@motorinc because literally one company has hybrid tech in India and this company was Anti EV in Japan till 1 year ago and also heads the Japanese OEM association. Look up NEDO and a poorly conducted study sponsored by them and done by "Engine" Research Institute from IIT K, which says that TCO and life time emissions of EVs can never be lower than Hybrids. Japanese industry is paying money to promote hybrids through PR like that. That's why I am calling it propaganda. They have no competitive advantage in EVs. They are loosing market share in the top 2 markets because of this and Want to protect in the 3rd largest market. Also are more manufacturers going to provide Hybrids? Everyone is talking about brining new EVs in 1 or 2 years imported or assembled in India. Sorry if it sounds like rant.

slightly off topic, but what is your opinion about DCTs currently in the market (Hyundai/Kia). Are they reliable for say 15 years?
@motorinc
@motorinc 3 ай бұрын
15 years - hard to comment on that. The newer generation DCTs are better. We see a 10 year lifespan as a reasonable worry free phase.

Really nicely done Much appreciated.. I have purchased Mahindra 400 the newer version and pretty much everything you said subject up, except for the fact I was really disappointed with the music system that was really pathetic in this stage and it does not allow you to mirror your phone or watch videos even with the android auto, Play and CarPlay, and all that so could you please elaborate on that and is there like an easy fix to it? Can you like change the system?

Late to the party but I am someone who drives 80 kms minimum a day for 6 days a week with a cng vehicle. I don't think the premium charged by Ev's make any sense because the cost of ownership is so high as compared to the car I own, it doesn't make any sense to me. Given I live in Gujarat, I usually don't face queues for CNG pump at all for the 95% of the time. Would surely a comparison cng vs EV on cost metrics sometime in the future.

Booked the 39.4 kwh battery pack model and waiting for delivery. Believe me, it is way better than previous version. It is way more comfortable than Nexon for a person of my built. I was never in for EV vehicles but after driving this and looking at it’s practicality I went in for this. Plus at this price range we don’t get much of a vehicle except shoddy maruti and hyundai vehicles. I somewhat like the basic stuff which really works in long term. It has cruise control, traction control, rear AC vents, sunroof, 6 airbags, wireless charger and not to forget a very usable boot. Rest I hope this decision is not wrong as it is my first car 😅

Low was also used by honda amaze diesel automatic 1.5 i-dtec and it means that it won't go to higher gear and in mahindra it means Low speeds and if you try to go high speed it will just leave you stranded when ever you leave the accelerate peddle with that pull of regen. As far as the previous owners are concerned, I have many friends who have bought the "pre feature version" the good part was that they got a heavy discount on the top end variant at that time(long range model) many of them got it for around 16.5 lakhs including the fast charger and fair deal of accesories

A while back there was a media blitz of many prominent channels doing review of Nexon Vs 400, all of them recommended Nexon at the end but it was quite evident that they were really promoting and making a case for 400 by giving it more air time in the video. You didn't just give an honest review but also talked about EV purchase dilemmas which needs a deeper conversation. My everyday commute is 70 km, 5 days a week, will EV make sense?

Here is one topic I would like you guys to talk about. The lack of 7 seater SUVs with side-facing third row seats that come with an automatic transmission. Why is this important? Because I own a TUV 300 AMT version and I'm finding it incredibly difficult to replace it. Side-facing third row seats provide an independent door for third row passengers to get in and out of the car without disturbing second row passengers. When you have a single passenger on the third row containing side-facing seats, that person gets to stretch their legs like they're on a bed. In conclusion, I would say that unless you put tall people in them (you shouldn't be putting tall people in any third row to begin with), side facing third row seats are superior to front facing third row seats. An automatic transmission option on such a vehicle provides added convenience. The only vehicles that offer side-facing third row seats anymore are the Bolero, Bolero Neo and the Scorpio Classic and unfortunately, none of them provide an automatic transmission option anymore.

Had no major issues on it and it being diesel still gives 20+ kmpl milage as well!🔥 The interior is still in pristine condition, the quality is unbelievable in the sense that it has lasted in such a good condition for this long! Shame to see such a capable company leave a developing country which has such high potential. I unfortunately am not able to find the brochure online anywhere but I might have the physical copy of it lying somewhere since the time I bought it 😂 if you anybody wants it, do reply I’ll scan it and drop a g-drive link.
