I get asked this 1000 times a month! Seriously lol! So many people go hey I have a AF80 Crank I just bought and since it's 40 mm stroke............. What? how you know it's 40mm stroke exactly? Well it says af80........ Sigh!
What people don't understand is the Rod stamp is just a value giving to the rod! Not to crank stroke! Has zero to do with rod stroke! So I hope this video clears up some of the BS out there posted by 100s of people over and over! It is bad info passed on to the next person that sends it along the chain. I see so many trying to make a nice build and then realize there stroke length is way off and they can't figure out why!
when ever you buy a crank You need to look At (stroke Length) not rod stamp! There is so many 36 and 38mm cranks out there with rods you all think makes it 40mm stroke! You buy them and don't even realize you just bought the same crank you thought you upgraded as a result!
So I hope this video clears up some of the common misconceptions out there!
